Why does dropping from fp16 to fp8 get me double the iterations per second on a 3090?Yes, I know 8 is half of 16. But, my understanding is that the Ampere generation of cards doesn't have hardware acceleration of 8 bit floating point ops. So my expectation would have been so that the weights get upcast to fp16 at compute time on this card, leading to saved vram but no speed benefit.
