Regarding Claude 3.5 Haiku performing better than Opus (which we know is horseshit in practical terms), I just referenced Anthropic's benchmarks and in some metrics Haiku does seem to perform slightly better on paper....the main difference here is gonna be though that you won't be able to guide haiku nearly as well as you will be with opus. So while it could perform better with some single turn no effort 0-shot prompts no follow-up, that's probably about it

If you were willing to spend hundreds of dollars going on several dates with whores looking for free food, I don't see what the difference is here. If anything it's cheaper. Go get a job, then set up openrouter and use gpt o1 (if you don't care about its positivity bias) or use sonnet 3.5 if you do. Sonnet is enough for most people but you can still give opus a try if you can afford it. Limit your context to 10k then go up from there if you think it's not enough. At the same time you'll need to learn to prompt to deal with memory problems because even if 200k context AI won't remember things unless it's repeated in a subtle way or if you make lorebooks to jog its memory. Imo the best way to save money is to talk to the bot every other day rather than every day.

The model doesn't really adhere to shit it supposedly "said" in a prefill if it hasn't been instructed to do so. It'll straight up ignore entire fake-CoT prefills unless you have an actual system or user-role instruction telling it to think before responding, ideally specifying the format.

I have the best results with pixi and camicle, momovivd too, but even then I have to modify them with PHI prompts reiterating length guidelines at a minimum

o1 is absolutely better than Sonnet 3.5 for coding. This isn't even a debate. It is a fact that o1 is better. But once again, you can get that out of a model when you pour more resources into it like OpenAI implementing CoT into o1, which costs so many more tokens per input/output. o1 is basically taking your prompt, giving an output, analyzing its output, re-feeding the prompt and output it gave to itself, and iterating upon it to make it as accurate as possible (at least to the level that OpenAI has trained it)

Yes, I've noticed this as well. o1-mini is one of the weirdest fucking models ever because it is clearly a tiny model that shits its pants if the context window gets too long, but it manages to be better at coding compare to o1-preview in a lot of situations. Not always though. This is because OpenAI optimized o1-mini for STEM reasoning during pretraining. Look at the o1-mini model card, pic related.

So yeah I notice that o1-mini is "better" at coding than o1-preview in some instances. It's really fucking weird. And it's not always the case, sometimes o1-preview comes in and solves o1-mini's fuckups for me.

What I like to do in the OpenAI chat UI is start out my coding problem with o1-mini, and then have o1-preview take over if the conversation gets too long.

I honestly am so fucking intrigued by o1-mini because its such a small model and poops its pants after just a few conversation turns (especially if the initial prompt has a bunch of code in it), but its so fucking smart still. Bizarre model. At times the smartest coding model you'll ever use.

"Censor" refers to "overcensoring or unjustified refusals", stuff like how to kill a process, or crime-themed creative writing. He doesn't do ERP. Notably 3.5 Haiku is the only Claude model beside Claude-1 (100%) to score over 20%.
