the pc i had was running windows 95, so i set the cables to master boot for the win98 and boot'd up. the new windows started but was loading many many drivers and not going into user space. i was planning to format the win95 hdd after migrating windows.

After 10 years of using Linux exclusively I switched back to Windows because I couldn't be fucked dealing with it anymore

Knowing full well how shitty HP is, I bought an HP Pavilion Plus 14 just over half a year ago because of the specs, but I must have missed half of them on the way. It's such trash.
It has telemetry drivers. It's fucking embedded into your fucking soul. Microsoft allows them to do this awful shit. It has next to no BIOS settings in case you might break it. The processor is quite cucked. Forget about undervolting anyways. You want to have the laptop airflow actually obstructed with a surface that will make it 10-15C hotter on full load because otherwise, even on idle, you'll have a really annoying high pitched fan noise that cannot be fixed and "it's normal".
To make things worse I actually didn't need a laptop. It's sitting on my desk all day anyways. It hasn't been outside once. I could just have grabbed a miniPC. I'm using an external display, keyboard and mouse. It's so fucking stupid. I'm so fucking stupid. Why did I do this??

The first time I tried linux on my first custom built PC when I was 13 in 2016 was solely because I didn't know how to pirate Windows but (somehow) knew that Ubuntu was free. I switched back to Windows immediately upon finding that out but after 3 years and a couple incidents with Windows Update rendering my system unusable in ways I couldn't fix at the time I was willing to give loonix another shot since Proton was a thing by that point. 5 more years later I can't say I'm the biggest fan of Arch but every issue I've had with it thus far has been fixable without reinstalling my entire OS.
