Only speakers have soundstage. It's created by room reflections. Soundstage in IEMs/headphones is pure schizophrenia. You can get brainwashed into hearing soundstage in them but it's not related to anything objective and it disappears over time. If the tonality is vastly different from what you're used to it can also manifest as soundstage, for a time.

AliExpress sale is here, so my urge to consoom is getting to me. I'm quite happy with my Artti T10 I bought months back, with micropore tape and EQ it impresses me with pretty much everything I play, they respond really well to EQ. But of course, I end up getting bored with headphones and IEMs, and always want to try something new. I was thinking either EW300 or EA500LM, but are those more of a sidegrade than a direct upgrade to the T10?

My budget is up to $150. I like the "techs" of the T10, I think I'm looking for an even better detail monster, if that helps.

How can it move evenly if it's clamped around the rectangular perimeter? It'll obviously be more free to move in the center than by the edges.

EQ is mandatory for speakers because of room modes.

Pad condition alone can change the sound of headphones by 10dB. The same headphones on different heads can differ by 15dB, even after you subtract intentional interaction with your ear anatomy.
>>
>>103156850

Interesting, I have been using pads with the foam completely out on the inside edge for over a year, new foam should arrive because of the 11.11 promotion, will compare them then too.

When I play this track on IEMs the sound goes around my head about 5cm away from it. On headphones not only is it inside my head but I can't even tell whether it's supposed to be in front or behind me. I estimate that headphones only play 30% of audio.

The right side of my mmcx cable is breaking (I think the cable not the mmcx connector). Any recommendations this one is silver plated I'd prefer a darker less noticeable silver or just black. It's slightly under 1 meter something longer than that would be better to get comfortably under a jacket. At max maybe 20 yuro but preferably around 10.
>>
>>103159232
If you were comfortable with shitty earpods then maybe you’d like the moondrop block although I don’t think they’re water resistant.
I loved my pair of moondrop quarks 1. If you have an android with actual USB-C then quarks 2 should be great and they’re very low profile comfortable and will sound better than earpods.
Soundpeats clear are TWS stems good tuning fit similar to airpods pro probably.
Might be one of your better bets.
>anything TWS will be planned obsolescence but who cares if they’re $20 throwaways anyways right?
>>
>>103159638
most standard cable lengths are 1.2m. look up openheart cable on aliexpress, select an mmcx one. note that there are specific mmcx for sennheiser ie-series / akg n5005, so don't buy those listings unless you have those iems. they are fairly good about putting red warnings specifying the cable type
>>
>>103159638
and if not openheart, there are many hundreds of nicehck cables. avoid cloth / fabric covered ones, they have much worse microphonics (transmit noise when brushed / rubbed against)

Truthear Hexa. $80. Good isolation thanks to single small vent of the bass DD. Neutral DF-derived tuning close to the new meta. For monitoring purposes it's very good.
>>
>>103166012
this except the Nova
it's better then the Hexa and can be had for $100 right now. probably less after coupons
>>
>>103166030
Nova is Shartman and has huge shells, which in case when the fit is not ideal will cause more issues than Hexa's simple medium-sized shells
>>
>>103166224
he wants something to monitor an instrument. a neutral Hartman curve will do way better then a colored Hexa
the shells are pretty big but they happen to fit me perfectly so maybe I'm a bit biased
>>
>>103166240
nova is luckily not that bad in 5k shout since it's the only part they changed to match the DF more closely, but the tranny tuck is still there and it's a retarded remnant of Shartman OE target (which is quite good) when it was adapted to IEMs as the IE target using wrong assumptions, anyway while a gentle tuck can be beneficial, Shartman's recessed tuck simply sounds artificial
>>
>>103166282
Harman OE is bad.
>>
>>103166293
you have it backwards, harman over ear is alright, while harman in ear is not great
>>
>>103166303
No, over ear is bad. Too muddy.
>>
>>103166293
still less ridiculous than IE

point on the graph where the 'tranny tuck' is

Not really. There are real humans that need that much 5kHz, especially with deeper insertion. 200Hz region is non-negotiable. Listen to real speakers. Headphones need even deeper dip at 200 to reach anything resembling hifi.
>>
>>103166338
real speakers with forward woofers sound more like IEMs with sloped bass, the tuck is as artificial as having a subwoofer, setting its volume too loud and making it sound disjointed
>>
>>103166355
Subwoofer is mandatory for hifi. You cannot have smooth bass if you only have a single point source of bass, even if it extends to 20Hz.

only to supply actual woofers, not to overpower them in low-end and let it live with its own life

Just extending woofers is senile and gay. Real shelf for real music.
>>
>>103166434
that area sounds pretty flat when I tone it out
>>
>>103166486
not the worst case of a troon tuck, pos like variations have it much worse, but still is not just a tuck but also a recess which makes reverse slope of the mids
>>103166467
if you like it for listening to the music, that's okay, but recommending it to the anon who wants pos for monitoring his equipment is straight up retarded
>>103166240
Hexa may be a bit colored with bass and air boosted, but always was, is and always will be more neutral than shartman which is anything but neutral, if anything it's much more V-shaped than neutral

>if you like it for listening to the music, that's okay, but recommending it to the anon who wants pos for monitoring his equipment is straight up retarded
That's literally what studios use.
>>
>>103166544
the 'recessed' area sounds bright to my ears when I tone it out
it could be a decibel lower imo
>>
Only people that think headphones sound good have an issue with the tuck and people that think headphones sound good are all deaf.
>>
>>103166571
only Etymotic ER4SR is certified for studio use, FR-matched per channel and guaranteed to sound identical regardless who uses it, but it's not even used that often, as studios use far-field monitor speakers most of the time and near-field ones and headphones for more critical tasks, if there's a subwoofer it's matched and aligned to woofers' volume

If they mix like that they didn't read Toole and their mixes are ass.

My sliivo cable is nice and good quality and doesn't tangle, but it's kinda heavy and it's digging into the top of my years. Any cable upgrades for this feel?
