Why do normies love this so much?

Literally just a convection oven with a basket
>>
It's more convenient as it pre-heats comparatively instantly, cooks quicker, and wastes far less energy
>>
>>103154500
Turns out a tiny convection oven is really useful.
>>
>>103154500
It's low effort for retards like me who can't cook.
>>
>>103154500
>normies
Okay, you clearly already made up your mind on hating them so why even ask.
To answer your question. It's small, uses way less energy, heats up instantly and can basicly cook everything perfectly.
Every kind of meat will be perfectly tender on the inside, any kind of bread or dough will be baked way faster, anything crisp on the outside tender on the inside
works perfectly etc.
And you can just out the basket in the dishwasher.
It Just Works

Nothing difficult about filling a pot with beef tallow and properly frying some shit
>>
>>103154561

>>
>>103154500

>>
>>103154565

>>
>>103154500
They can pretty much do everything that requires heating up.
And they produce basicly the best fries and in general everything usually turns out exactly how you would want it. I recently tried making donuts in mine and even those tasted as good as the usual deep fried ones.
>>
thats the whole point. its a convection oven that fits on your counter top. dont be that retard that cooks steak in air fryer. use a pan like a normal person.
>>
>>103154500
I don't have a microwave so I bought an airfryer mostly to re-heat food and the occasional french fries etc.
It's faster and saves energy.
>>
>>103154500
Every device called an "oven" that I had took a while to heat up and cook things. Every device called "air fryer" that I had blasts very hot air pretty much immediately and gets the job done much quicker, plus the food doesn't really come out quite the same in one and the other since the cooking methods aren't actually identical.

The name is a gimmick.
Ergonomics and efficiency is great.
It's cheap or at least should be.
Size is an obvious drawback.
>>
>>103154692
It hasn't. It's the same tech. They use straight-up toaster oven parts.

The modern fans are better designed.

I adore my air fryer. Before I got it I thought it was a total gimmick waste of time, after buying it I don't cook food in the oven anymore. It's easier to cook shit, easier to clean, faster, does a better job thanks to improved airflow vs my oven, and is cheaper to run. I had a little countertop convection oven in university, but it was still a large space that took a few minutes to pre-heat. Air fryer doesn't need the preheat, because the compartments are so small that it's just food and a small air buffer.

I have both. The air fryer works much better as a convection oven; it heats faster and cooks faster. The oven works, eventually, but takes longer and the results aren't as good. Oven just doesn't seem to get as hot.

These.
Also note: George Foreman grills were super popular in the USA ~20 years ago. One of the driving reason was b/c a lot of people (in the USA, in the lmao late 90's) didn't have stoves.
Let that sink in for a minute.
>>
>>103155059
They're pretty comparable. Air fryers have better heat transfer efficiency due to convection though, which tends to result in shorter cooking times.

It depends on what you want to cook. Making cakes? Get a toaster oven, because you can fit a fucking cake in it. Frozen tendies? The air fryer is just going to do a far better job at getting them crispy.
>>

I think the main reasons were, 1- being heavily marketed on TV, and 2- promising healthier food as it was designed to get the grease out.
>>
>>103155210
Sure, but the fan isn't positioned as well, and the higher volume of air required to be heated slows cooking. The fan in an air fryer runs a lot faster, things that are light actually blow around and shit. Not good for grated cheese.

>>103155596
I use a wire rack and a silicone liner, that essentially works as reusable parchment paper. You could just fold paper every time if you're lazy, cleaning the wire rack takes about 5 seconds with a scourer then I put it back in the basket where it dries off from residual heat.

>>103155647

>Literally just a convection oven with a basket
Most American ovens don't have a proper convection mode. To the point Americans call a real convection oven European style (with a heating coil on the fan).

Of course Europeans also like air-fryers. I'm going to guess because it's easier to clean it with the dishwasher.
>>
>>103155974
It's just easier than a regular oven.

Back when people lived in big families, the oven made sense, you cooked a meal for the family. Now it's all TV dinner frozen shit you can cook per person, and everyone is alone. The air fryer is the perfect gadget for the modern NPC.

> the process of air frying does result in the formation of certain compounds, like acrylamide, that are linked to cancer development. Acrylamide is classified as a probable human carcinogen. Acrylamide is formed when foods are heated to temperatures above 120 degrees Celsius (120°C) or 250 degrees Fahrenheit (250°F). During the heating process, a series of chemical reactions (called the “Maillard reaction”) involving sugars and amino acids contained in food results in the formation of acrylamide. Foods that are high in carbohydrates, such as potato chips, French fries, and baked goods contain the highest levels of acrylamide, but fish, meat, and vegetables produce smaller amounts of acrylamide when cooked.

The only people who didn't have a stove in the 90s were college students living in dorms and the homeless. Small appliances that let you cook in your room were popular with college students (today most student housing is luxury apartments due to easy to get loan money). Homeless might have a makeshift stove of some kind but weren't likely to have access to electrical outlets enough to bother with keeping a George Foreman grill in their hobo nest.
