Yesterday Firefox, which I use on a Samsung Galaxy phone, suddenly decided to download a file called analytics.html while I was browsing Twitter. I instantly removed it (or at least thought I had) and downloaded Malwarebytes for Android and ran a scan which didn't detect anything.

This morning however I surprisingly discovered the same file (whose size is about 200 kb) again in my Downloads folder. Should I just delete it again or is there a way to somehow safey learn about its contents?

I try avoiding shady websites and only install well-known apps from Play Store. The only add-on is an adblock.

I am trying to accomplish something like this:
>build images with packer and ansible/chef/whatever
>bring up the VMs with terraform, key pairs get generated using terraform TLS provider
>public keys are written to GitLab CI/CD variable so they can be later retrieved

Let's say I want to make some changes to the VMs, run some ansible playbooks. I need to verify the public keys. I want to retrieve them from the GitLab CI/CD variable so that I am not susceptible to a MITM attack

thoughts about datetime filenames? I always use YYYY-MM-DD HH:mm:ss in text. since Windows doesn't let colons (:) in filenames, I usually went with YYYYMMDD_HHmmss in filenames. now I started to think it's not very legible. you could restore the hyphen for the date part, though I'm not sure about what to use in place of the colon.

Had been rebooting and rebooting everytime I try to start windows, I installed 2 kind of windows both legal and illegal, and still turning off and on.

I can go in in safe mode,
I can use Linux on it because I tried with one USB,
It doesn't make any sounds beep or something,
I updated bios,
I clean the bios,
I clean the PC changing the paste,
Is not the psu,
Is not the ram(tried both and each one different spaces),
Is not the USBs,
Is not the screen.

But this sad shit had been restarting over and over, I am getting insane, tried with different bios config, maybe I left something out.

check the solder joints on the microswitches for the bumper itself. they could be cracked or something

or possibly the microswitches themselves are just sticky rather than the larger actual bumper

maybe try plugging it in and shorting the bumper buttan trace to a test pad on the controller. i havent taken apart an X360 controller but I know XBone ones do have test pads. it should be a little silvery circle with fine print saying what button it goes to, and there also should be one for the buttons' common ground. they should look like picrel but again on XBone controllers they're clearly marked with actual button names

doing that will let you know if the actual little switch has failed in some way, if it works with the test pads but not with the big plastic bumper. if the switches work, you probably just installed the bumper wrong. if it doesn't work, idk, you could look for another of the same part but if you already have a second controller to cannibalize it might be easier to just swap the big plastic shell parts to that other one if it works at all. and new controllers are like 20$ anyway

I need a new laptop, and want to try out the macbook pro. Looking for a machine that will last me at least the next 6 years or so. I feel like the m4 pro would be more than sufficient for 99% of my use cases (mostly web development), but I don't like the 512 gb ssd, nor do I think the base ram is sufficient.

An m4 pro with 48 gb memory, 14 CPU cores and 20 GPU cores, and 1tb ssd is ~$3,000.

An m4 max with 64 gb memory, 16 CPU cores, 40 GPU cores, and a 1tb SSD is ~$4,200.

inb4 this is exactly how apple design their pricing ladder and all the iToddler shit, I'd like some feedback on whether it's worth it to dish out the extra grand for what is realistically a far more powerful machine.

At the end of the day, a $1000 difference is really nothing given the amount of use I'd be getting out of it, but on the flip side, if I got a lower spec one, I'd likely upgrade much sooner (say after 3yrs vs 6+), and I don't consider 'future proofing' to be super valid given the rate of power creep with both computer hardware and software.

>1. everywhere it says that you shouldn't persist keys and should generate a new pair every time you have to encrypt something. but if you lose the private key doesn't that mean no one can decrypt it later?
for modern automated computing, you have a digital certificate that is regularly renewed and is used to generate a new key based on some immutable but constantly changing public thing. traditionally the current time.

>2. how can two clients use different keys to decrypt the same message? (like in a chat app)
a lot of complicated math that is explained incorrectly if not outright deceptively by fuddlore. the reality is that what you describe DOES NOT happen.

you have two keys, K and J. K can encrypt something, but J decrypts it. The thing encrypted with K cannot be decrypted by K. The same is true of J; it can decrypt K-encoded messages but stuff done with J is not decrypted. these keys are a pair. it's less that a key has two locks, and more that your package is locked with a lock the recipient provided you, and only he has the key. (to stretch the analogy, the lock was already open when he mailed it and you just clicked it shut)

They are separated into "public" and "private" because in actual use, if you distribute both keys, both sets of messages are compromised.

So you keep K a secret, and give J to everybody. That way, THE OTHER PARTY can encrypt stuff FOR YOUR EYES ONLY with J, but only you have K to decrypt it. If you want to send something securely to someone else, you ask them "Hey what's your J" (or better yet just look it up on their website or something, or some systems have a repository of everyone's J in that system so you don't have to even bother asking; Outlook or w/e just does it for you)

this method is also used for signing stuff; if you use the keys in reverse, you can say "here's the cyphertext of what I sent you as encrypted by my K (the one i keep secret); decrypt it with my publicly accessible J to know I in fact sent it."

Completely up to the site owners to play cat and mouse games.
If and when your ILLEGAL RIPPING TOOL just so happens to work on a site, it means the site owner doesn't care or doesn't have resources to change his APIs all the time.
(Google for example does have resources and they do keep playing the cat and mouse game - breaking your download tool from time to time)

Do modern "OSs" really?
Bittorrent or probably some other download managers show progress, though not all applications have an "official" torrent (ie linux distros linking/making their own torrents)

Basically download managers or bittorent
Or change your browser/OS, one of these holds what you want
>>
>>103190237
No matter how smart your OS/program/whatever is, it can't do shit when the server doesn't give it info. It's about the HTTP protocol itself, you can't "fix" anything here - other than the server obviously. If you can call it a bug even, the server is just being "minimal and clean".

good evening bros, i have a question. I feel like it's a retarded idea but if it's possible I'd be very happy.

so I have a nintendo switch connected to my monitor, and when I want to play, I use the buttons on my monitor to switch inputs. I have the switch audio connected to my pc through bluetooth so I don't have to do anything with my earbuds.
SO I was wondering, is there any way I could capture the switch's hdmi output and show it in a window on my computer? Can a capture card or something do this in real time? without adding crazy input lag?

Not really. One in a few thousand vs one in a few hundred milli. Most Linux users have at least one natural crc32 collision on their system. md5 isn't good enough on ultra-large scale, but for most normal humans it can act as a high confidence identifier by itself.

Anyone encountered this bug before? I have no idea what else to do and the stackoverflow retards just decided to downvote my answer without ever telling me what was wrong with it.

I am running a SQL Server 2022 (v16.0.1000.6) instance on my Windows 11 machine which completely stops responding after the RAM occupancy surpasses 92%. Whenever the ram occupancy dips below that threshold the queries complete instantly. This is something that is happening to every single colleague of mine, with Win11 being the only commonality.

I used it before on a Windows 10 machine and never ran into any similar issue. I tried alloting a maximum allowed memory to the sql server instance and capped it at 2GB, but nothing has since changed. MS, or anyone else for that matter, also doesn't seem to know about this bug.

I am basically curbing memory usage with the use of my task manager, but have not managed to solve the issue otherwise. Anyone has any idea what could lead to this behavior?

Assumed your DNS queries to Google are encrypted: now Google knows your DNS queries instead of your ISP.
Assumed your DNS queries to Google are unencrypted and everyone in the route spies on the traffic: now your ISP, your ISP's ISP and Google all know your DNS queries.

>can't connect
What's the reason?
>no answer to DNS queries while everyone else gets them
Your DNS server decided to block you.
>gets DNS but "no route to host" while everything else works
Your ISP is broken.
From what I've been observing, north americans have super random access to the global internet for some reason. Only north american sites work for them but that's fine as they use nothing but those.
Is the site in China or whatever?
>gets DNS but absolutely nothing works
Your router is broken. It's on the Internets giving and getting DNS all the time but doesn't let the actual traffic thru.
>connection refused
Connection got thru but got a "nobody's here" answer.
>connection times out
For some reason your connection is getting filtered. Or there's just nobody there.

How to get Steam to actually launch games on XP or Vista?

There are dozens of guides to get Steam and its games working successfully, and this used to work for a while back for a few years after they dropped support in 2019. But recently, you simply cannot launch ANY game because they're all stuck in a "Update Queued" state, even if the games were up to date. Pressing the "Verifying Integrity of Game Content" option also triggers this and cannot be escaped. Copying the game files from a new PC's OS to the old one doesn't fix this either, and launching the game directly from the common folder doesn't work anyway because it launches it through Steam.

This is a true dead end for XP/Vista, because it seems Steam HAS to somehow connect to its servers and verify the game files, where the old shared build doesn't have any provisions for it. Unless there's a solution?

There was a leddit post that mentioned "spoofing" Steam by using a connection to a modern PC as a proxy, but I couldn't find the post and I don't know if it actually worked out or not.

fyi I already do have a W10 PC with Steam installed, but I want to get Steam working on the older OS laptop for personal reasons.
