I just bought an A35 because I needed to have a functioning device, but I will say this. Glass backs on phones seems like a preposterously bad idea because glass is fundamentally an insulator. Phones already have an issue with heat dispersion. So by the time you can feel the heat on a phone that's shrouded in glass, the interior is probably cooking.

Fingers overlap the bezel and touch the screen. It's an annoyance. They're also super fucking expensive to fix compared to a traditional screen. Ended up buying a cheap case on AliExpress (which ironically has 100x the case options that every other retailer does for this model) just to raise the sides up. Got a neat Junji Ito case for mine for like $1 USD though. Pic related is the design but the cameras almost completely fill up her spiral and the case covers everything but the lens. Oneplus phones look great except for two things:

1. OxygenOS looks like a iOS knock off. For Western audiences having knock offs is embarrassing. It looks gaudy and people don't want to be seen with it in public.

2. This is a problem with chinkphones in general (Xiaomi, Huwaei, although Xiaomi has improved this with their Mi 13, 14 and 15) but the ugly camera grouping. That large circle camera housing looks really bad. Go for something minimal like Samsung or refined like Apple. The current camera housing on the 12 but particularly the 13 screams chink. Looking at older OP phones like the 7 and 8. The phones looked really really good. As in you wouldn't be embarrassed to have on in public even if it isnt an Apple phone or a high end Samsung.

I find it weird that nobody markets a USB-C flash drive in the form factor of a dust plug. I understand it would be limited in scope, but you're telling me they couldn't fit some memory in one of these?

Though, side note, having a dust plug in the form factor where it actually has an aluminum plug, in my opinion, makes it worthless. I only see value if the plug portion is short compared to standard USB-C. Because otherwise you have a stake sticking out of the phone where, if it ends up eating an impact, you're at risk of breaking your charging port. Soft plugs make more sense.

I had one and I changed the display resolution to hide the stupid notch and it worked out well but it was ultimately too wide to use and the lcd meant I had black bars on top and bottom of the display.
Also the native camera app refused to open with the resolution changed.
It also overheated if I used it for too long. I just stopped using it after a month. I had another battery for it and I did really enjoy being able to swap battery when one died but it just emphasized that the battery DOESN'T last even one day

To some extent I think that's the case with all phone companies. Why have ultrasonic fingerprint sensors almost exclusively been used by samsung until recently? Why does no one use the big sensor that that one vivo phone used? Why do none of the big boys put effort into improving the "invisible" camera technology so they can get rid of the hole punch? Why are charging speeds so crippled with some brands? I'm guessing all of this is to hold off improvements so the next gen has one new thing they can brag about. I noticed that I probably don't use phones as much as normal people do, basically just for forced smartphone apps (i.e. authenticators), to "scan" paper documents (take photos of papers), no real gaming, professional use or even listening to music. However, my first proper smartphone had its screen slightly cracked for years. My second, more expensive smartphone (at least at the time, OnePlus 8T bought for 440 EUR in October 2022) got completely fucked once (cracked in half, unusable), which cost me 200 EUR to fix, then the back glass got cracked, cost me about 60 EUR to fix.

I'm looking at Blackview N6000 or Blackview N6000SE at prices 182E or 133E respectively. Guess the only big difference between that two is that SE has half the RAM (8 vs 4 GB) and half the storage (256 vs 128 GB), but that shouldn't be important for me. Supposedly, the battery lasts long, it's small (which is a plus/something I'm looking for, something that doesn't take much space in my pocket) and most importantly, the marketing states it can survive a 60m fall / being dropped with force from 5 meters. So hopefully I won't end up paying +260 EUR because of physical damage.

So, is it a good deal at that price?

I've got myself a brand new Pixel 8 in a box here and I'd like to install GrapheneOS on it. I'm in Europe and there's no carrier attached to it. Will I still need to go inside settings to enable "OEM Unlocking", or should I just assume I'm good to go?

I want to buy a new phone, mainly for recording video.
Considering the Sony Xperia 1V or the upcoming OnePlus 13r
Will my videos look substantially worse if I go for the 13r? Is newer better?
