I've been using a 2016 HP pavilion for games and work since 2017 and it's finally starting to show it's age. What would be a good replacement? I've been to a few stores but the ones they have in display are all significantly smaller and less powerful than what I have now.
>>103206933>and it's finally starting to show it's ageIn what regards?
a laptop from 2016 is easily sufficient even today for everything except gaming as usual. for every other task your laptop should be knocking it out of the park
>>103206933do not consoomif you want to game, just buy a tower for it, much more bang for your buckand after that just keep using your laptop as-is, perhaps with a battery replacement. a 2016 laptop is more than enough for office work.Source: my 2014 laptop is more than enough for office work.

>>103210709>lower battery life with a startup warning about my batteryI get this in my 2017 hp laptop (can't remember the model, but it has an i5 8265u)

>>103206933You should probably just buy another HP Pavilion. I bought one earlier this year after a lot of research and found it's one of the best bang-for-buck models there are, it was also the cheapest model with an OLED screen available, which is nice.I'm guessing your "gaming" needs are probably similar to mine, I'm only interested in older stuff, not AAA titles from the last couple years and it runs them fine, maybe you need to sacrifice on graphics a bit on slightly newer titles but so be it.Only annoying thing I find is the HP keyboard layout retarded with all the extra buttons to the right, but I think I'm finally used to it after six months. I assume you're already used to it as well so it makes sense to stick with it.I would look for the cheapest deal you can find on a HP Pavilion and see if you can beat it with a laptop with better specs.

I guess I'll just hijack this thread:I'm looking for a laptop that I need for nothing but basic browsing, movie watching, and one very specific piece of software that requires that I have a Windows laptop (instead of for example a chromebook). What's a good (and preferably cheap) laptop that's good for that, not a specs overkill, but also has good built quality? Crappy trackpads drive me insane. I'm not an audiophile and I know not to expect too much from laptops, but I'd also prefer speakers that don't clip constantly.

I'm happy with an M2 Macbook AirIt was my first ever Apple product. Bought it used.If you don't specifically need Windows or a very powerful machine I don't think there's anything as good.
