>Not sure what private trackers are all about?
A private tracker is a torrent website that provides the same functionality as a public tracker but is invite-only. Each member share common goals: collecting, preserving and discussing media.

>Yes they are.
>>Why?
>Because the amount of invites giorgino hands out requires him to de facto be KGs official recruiter. The guy recruits like a hundred people a year. Even high ranking KG members get little more than 1 (ONE) invite a year to hand out to peeps they deem worthy to join the Crows ranks.
>
>He also has multiple accounts, which is evident by the fact that the account he invites you with is a porn uploading account that has completely fucked up numbers (e.g. he has hardly any uploaded data despite having thousands of uploaded torrents, which means he uploads the torrents using that account and likely seeds them using another one).
>
>If he wasn't de facto staff, why would he 1) receive so many invites to hand out to people on PTP, RED and a bunch of other sites and 2) be allowed to have multiple accounts? giorgino invites are /pure/ invites. This is factos. Deal with it.

Is this true?
>>
>>103208943
Previously you just had to be UHD on HDB and send the .in admin a PM to get invited.
But I don't know if that's still a thing. You should read in the Usenet indexers post on their forums.

Honestly, BLU closing was probably the best thing to happen to ptg.

>the worse thing to happen to ptg was OT closing
Somehow I feel that PTP/BTN/HDB recruitment put a huge damper on posts in here too. I know that I stopped frequenting after that at least.
Was fun to shitpost about holding horses though, but the novelty quickly wore off.

>instead of a stupid loli that gets deleted half the time
Yeah, hopefully the pics can stay up this way instead of being pruned.
But it does seem like jannies are trigger happy when it comes to deleting even slightly suggestive thread pics, unfortunately...

Even though this isn't the thread for this, but, I really don't see what people see in usenet. It just kind of seems like a scam considering anyone can join the indexers. Since anyone can join them, you'll essentially be stuck with copyright bots automatically removing content from time to time. It seems rather ubsurd that there isn't any vetting of newcomers; I guess that's probably the only way for indexers to make a decent income.

True, but not really. The requirements for HDB are laughably low on that one tracker no can join. Thats pretty funny
>>
>>103215364
Yeah really.
It used to be that if you got PU on What you could start being a normal user on any tracker you actually want to use.
Now with some exceptions everybody that wants in needs to be an uploader.

>>103215358
>doesn't want an influx of currys to infest his indexer
Isn’t it an Indian usenet indexer?
>>
>>103215348
>no exclusive content
Most of the exclusive content on HDB is dead, it’s not sustainable.
>>
>>103215271
I think a lot of users actually pay for .in too since it's $10/lifetime and iirc the free limits are lower than omg, so he's willing to lose money over this as well. Or perhaps .in is like good private trackers, so ostensibly not for profit and currently very well funded. I think it also has to do with the main recruiter passing away and engine9 having to take over; perhaps he got tired of having to screen every potential invitee so thoroughly. .in follows the same invite policies as cabal so that screening is necessary.
>>
One of my friends wanted to get into private trackers so I gave him an invite to mam since he liked reading books.

He never set up a torrent client, only logged in 3 times, and now his account has been deleted.

The hilarious part is that he asks me to find books he can't find himself and he is also on my Plex server.

Am I really that autistic for thinking private trackers are easy?

>>103215637

>>
>>103215562

Simply leaving a PC running (to keep torrents seeding) is already too much trouble for most normalfags. I wouldn't call you autistic for thinking that private trackers are easy, I'd call normalfags like your friend retarded for not being able to do simple things like that.
I never gave my friends invites but I did tell them whenever TL has open signups, some of them actually have an account on there now but most don't really use it that much. One even got disabled for inactivity but it happened when they had open signups again so he just made a new account right away without problems.

>RED is not a music tracker. Well, it is, but that's not its primary function.
>RED is a stepping stone to the real private trackers. A place where you can get your feet wet with ripping/uploading media, and get an understanding of how the world of private trackers work.
The sad truth. Oink and What were music trackers for people who love music. RED is a tracker that just happens to have a lot of music on it. Many of the users treat it as a dumping ground for trash that auto-snatchers grab so they can level up and get to other trackers.
>>
>>103219126
We've been over this a million times but with how easy it is to rip lossless music off of streaming services, there's no reason for trackers like RED or OPS to exist, much less one with as stringent of an economy as RED.
(You) can download tools to rip from Deezer or Qobuz and rip all of the music that you could ever dream of. The only exception is music not on those sites, in which case you can find it on Soulseek 99% of the time. If it isn't on Soulseek then it most likely isn't on RED either.
We're actually in a music piracy renaissance if you really think about it, pretty much every album in the world can be downloaded for free without any of the restrictions put on you by private trackers.
TV/Movies/Games/Anime require more effort than just clicking a download button on a modded client. Which is why people join RED, in the hopes of spamming enough uploads to make it to the other (much more important) trackers.

why are people so stingy with requests, especially on ptp
only 12tb for $260 usd dvd?
>>
>>103219619
Is that really stingy? $260 is what, 15 Blu-rays or so? 12TB upload is worth the download of around 1333 encodes at 0.6 min ratio.

>POODACTED going 6+ days of domain renewal + radio silence + damage control on other trackers

Unrelated to the above: yes, we've shut down the tracker since we're working on some backend changes and it's easier to work with things without the constant pummeling of our servers with tracker traffic coming through.

I have no significant update at this point in time, sorry. We're making progress and things are looking positive. My best guess would be that we are online later this week, but I can't guarantee that. It would be nice to have things back online before our site's birthday so we can celebrate along with OPS with their 6 year birthday. Happy birthday OPS <3

hello fellow red grinders. how can we capitalize on
this red downtime? I was thinking on preparing some torrents to race when red is back and get some good uploads considering that a lot of recent release albums red wont have. But what discourage me is that I dont know if I'm gonna be around the exact time when red is back up (I have other things to do in life and even if I was around, I don't know if I can beat the scripts lords (all my uploads are manual), specially on uploading famous or semi-famous new albums. So I'm afraid of wasting time preparing torrents that others will upload first. So I was wondering if its best to just do what I used to do which is cross checking the red library (when the site is up) with the stream library for underground albums and uploading them (with no rush) without worrying that someone will beat me to it.

Only just realized Redacted was fucked. I was only on What for a really brief time so I can't recall if they also didn't use a point system. Redacted not using a point system to mitigate means I can barely use the site at all because all I do is download obscure shit nobody gives a fuck about, outside of freeleech tokens (which fucking EXPIRE which is also complete horse shit) I only log in to make sure the account doesn't expire.
If it dies I hope we get another phoenix from the ashes like what happened after What croaked and whoever is running the new site is reasonable.

I never really have gotten into rubbing elbows and playing the Private Tracker Game, I've always really just downloaded what I want and tried to seed for as long as possible. First good trackers I got into were AnimeBytes when they did an open sign up and TorrentDay from a friend giving me an invite. Another friend got me into OppaiTime and AwesomeHD and from there I just kept good ratios so I could get invites from the forums and I have the whole spread now. This is all from just seeding constantly enough to accrue tons of points to remain stable, the only one I'm dicey on other than Red (.4ish ratio, fuck everybody I have EXCELLENT taste) is PTP but that's just because I don't watch too many movies.

What is another good music tracker? Is Apollo still around? I remember hearing about them at some point. Whenever I need to get something that's popular I'm good enough getting it off of Ru, but What/Red are where I've gotten almost all of my obscure shit. I was able to get the vinyl rips of That Handsome Devil's first EP that had an uncensored version of Dating Tips on it alongside another song of theirs I'd never heard before off of Redacted.
>>
>>103223302
>AnimeBytes
fug. haven't logged there for a very long while
i wonder if my account kill
>>
>>103223345
I've lapsed a couple of times but was able to get it reinstated through IRC fuckery so you should be okay.
I would have lost that account, too. I share some accounts with the guy I got a TorrentDay invite from (lost it because of bad ratio so I just use his account now TD doesn't give a shit, current ratio is 20tb up and 12tb down) and after I fucked up my ratio on AB I just gave him my login. A year later I logged back in and I must have had a ratio over 2 because he watching shitloads of shojo romance shit and never stops seeding.

I set it up for friends and family to test, but I think I will start using it not for getting stuff from trackers and usenet (I will still do that manually because sometimes the best version differs from the common rules), but for the renaming and metadata benefits in jellyfin. Jellyfin I find still tracks anime and some old films poorly and radarr and sonarr help a lot with that.
>>103225555
I did a separate sonarr for anime because the scoring is slightly different than in the main and so it would be easy for my users to choose anime and point it to an anime specific instance in jellyseerr. Is it worth to pay for Usenet while I'm in all top trackers?

I've seen a lot of black friday deals for usenet indexers and news thingy (sorry not familiar with usenet), is it worth to pay for those while I'm already on all of the best trackers "PTP, BTN, HDB, BHD, AB, KG, TVV..."? I don't really have any gaps in content that I look for, there's not a movie or a tv show that I want and I can't find, and I don't mind the seeding or the ratios requirements since I'm using an 8TB seedbox which I'd still be using even if I got usenet.

Would usenet add anything of value to my experience? especially giving that it would be another expense added to having a seedbox.

RED is based, unlike Shitddit which is just cringe

Are they unironically retarded? Okay, they lost the domain. Maybe they forgot to pay or decided not to renew it because it was too expensive. But come on, at least put up something temporary. RED is dead. Maybe there will be a new site with transferred users db, but for now, it’s gone.

>Are they unironically retarded?
After BLU and this, you should already know the question to this answer. Safe to assume all private trackers are run by retards and could vanish at any time due to some stupid mistake.
>>
>>103230234
And then people just disregard trackers that aren't the top ones cuz >muh not that good
A small tracker is preferable to no tracker, friends
>>
>>103230296
Just cross-seed and cross-upload to help build up the smaller trackers. Centralization benefits no one.

>poor retention
As far as public trackers go, Nyaa has by far the best retention. You can pretty easily find decade old torrents that are still seeded.

What can you expect from neons?
>>
Considering the current state of trackers being run by people who don't seem to care if their tracker is a house of cards, I'm glad I diversified my options by getting back into Usenet a couple years ago. It really seems like every cabal tracker could just disappear at any moment.
