if the keyboard has support for japanese, or emoji's, there are like 10000's of letters. and every emoji probably needs to store a string for looking up the emoji. if the keyboard has it's own font (probably not, but it might cache it), that could eat a lot of space as well.Also they are storing your history to give better autocomplete, which probably uses a bunch of space over time.
