Wyze keeps getting worse. An app update lowered the quality of the cams, and every update they add more and more ads and I am finally getting tired of it. I want to host my own security cams and hd and be able to connect to my own ip and see alerts or live view my cameras just like with Wyze and Ring. Does anything like this exist that is free or open source that also has a phone app to go with? It doesn't need any of the fancy zone detection or facial recognition, just motion alerts and live cam view. Anyone else self hosting their own cameras? What system/apps are you guys running?

zoneminder is the old school option. Rock solid, just works. There are several newer options that have "AI" object detection but they take a lot more CPU and memory. There are many tutorials and walk throughs on youtube for setting it up.https://zoneminder.com/

follow up question: Are there self hosted security cams that don't require me to drill a hole in my door / walls? I own my home but that seems invasive as fuck to me.

Just ordered 3 PoE cameras that will be firewalled and enslaved by my Home Assistant setup. Enjoy your battery powered WiFi bullshit.
>>103225789You can always use glue or those sticky pads for picture frames.
>>103225789>I own my home but that seems invasive as fuck to me.Imagine owning your own home and not knowing how to do simple repairs and maintenance. You should learn home maintenance especially if you own your own home. Drilling holes and running cables isn't even that hard.
