What am I missing here? Youtube has everything twitch has, plus all the great stuff that twitch doesn't.
>>103221710Even for you Jay, this is some low quality bait. You're better at Apple threads. Stick to what you know.
>>103221710Branding I guess. Twitch beat Youtube by being the first to popularize streaming. It's also more focused on that niche and there are one or two important features that are not killer features by themselves, but are still in the rudimentary forms on Youtube.I mean, if you just want to post photos, you can just post on Facebook, you don't really need Instagram to do that, but that's not the case.
>>103221710Google need to add twitch emotes fr no cap ong
>>103221710YouTube is too busy killing itself
>>103221710I think it’s because people go to twitch to watch streamers, so you end up with a different kind of community. People go to YouTube for various things and might stumble on a stream
>>103221710>What am I missing here?that youtube lacks a working chat feature?
I'm a streamer. Perhaps I can give a little insight. YouTube lacks plugins and stream software integration, lacks a chat function it has chat but it's not good, you have to use their stupid stream key and should you experience a small issue in say OBS, it will deactivate said key killing the entire stream, it lacks one of the most important things in all of streaming: collaboration. I can just stream with another streamer. The moderation is better on twitch etc. lots of other really important things. It's also why TikTok is killing YouTube. Plus YouTube forces ads down your throat. Twitch has ads but it's not like fixed or forced. I can pick to run ads when I get up to take a shit rather than it randomly disrupting my stream and thus pissing off my viewers.
>>103221710Livestream discovery on YouTube is extremely lacking, it's hard to browse live streams there compared to Twitch. Killing YouTube Gaming was a mistake, they had something going there.
>>103221743I can't block twitch ads, so I don't like watching shit there.
>>103221950How's ad revenue? I heard it was complete shit compared to bits and subs.
user experience sucks and theres a different target demographic that has been widened over the years.
>>1032217103 reasons1) youtube is shit at telling you someone is streaming2) discoverability, while crap on twitch, is worse on youtube3) chat on youtube is dog shit so if you wanted to chat or have chat interactions its unuseable.
>>103221710Youtube doesn't carry over the dick suckers records. They can't feel good about giving somebody thousands over the years starting from scratch.
>>103222380>3So the same as twitch you stupid fucking retard. You aren't there to chat you fucking idiot. You're there to suck the streamers dick. That's it. No conversations only dick sucking.
>>103221710Youtube has a really abysmal browsing compared to Twitch. You can't use membership emote in other chats.Lack of extension support. No dedicated page for live channels you're subbed to.
still can't fucking rewind live streams on twitch. you have to dig up the live VOD, if there even is one, see what you want, then back all the way out to the live stream.
>>103222380All stream chats with too many people +100) in it are just pointless imoYou can't have serious, deep meaningful conversation when everyone is spamming and it's impossible to read
>>103222070nta but ad revenue on twitch is a LOT better now. You can easily make as much money in ads over subs/bits. But obviously it depends on how many viewers you have. If you have 500ccv, ads are going to be a biger chunk compared to if you have 50. The general trend is smaller streamers will have more subs per viewer than bigger ones. Means more people are paying directly and they're not watching ads because they're subbed.I don't know the ins and outs, I'm not a streamer myself but my gf is and I absorbed the knowledge through osmosis.
Lot of twitch users are loyal to twitch.
>>103221710Twitch is gonna die off eventually due to all the internal drama and poor business standards, not to mention the ads. Youtube needs to work on its chat, otherwise it wouldve been far ahead at this point
>>103221710Gamers are retarded.
>>103221710Youtube has no streaming culture
the only streamer worth watching is in youtube
>>103221950>the moderationYou mean having bots ban people for trivial things? 99% of the timeouts I see mentioned from even semi-cool people like charborg are someone making a reference to that missing malaysian airlines plane during votv (where the entire bit and point is to have some conspiracy nerd shit about ayys going on) because it's "le edgy". Also chat is retarded, and every integration mentioned is just some obnoxious zoomer meme popping up to signify that retard mcshiteater just donated or subbed.
>>103223053This. Twitch found a niche but at the same time it didn't develop into what they hoped it would. Their site is also garbage to navigate and they delete old content, no matter how good it was. It will forever stay a niche site because of the decisions made how to run it.
>>103222005Skill issue doesn't begin to describe it.
Youtube's search is fucked and when I point this out I have had retarda tell me that it's my own fault for turning off history and not personalizing the algorythm.I am fully aware that Youtube still maintains dome form of watch history, but that is excuse for the butchered search and discoverability
>>103224964>retardaI'd like to think that that's the word for a group of retards, like phenomena or plethora.Either way, you're right. I've had YouTube on in the background for 15 hours a day for over a decade so I can confirm that even with constant tuning, it still sucks. Both the search and the algorithm.
>>103221710Youtube has stricter censorship and since everything runs on bots, they are very fast in suspending channels. You also get 3 chances to fuck up, but in reality someone else could easily try to fuck you up and get your channel deleted forever easily if they wanted to.
>>103221710Youtube wants to be Netflix really bad. The moment half of the feed are video essays you know something has gone wrong. Youtube was never a place for pseudo retards to read wikipedia articles for 40 minutes.
>>103225427'ove me some vidya essays
>>103221710From the little experience I have with watching streams, twitch seems to have nicer interface and integrations and stuff.
>>103222461depends on the person, 100+ people the chat is still slow enough you can springboard off people, its when you have what 1000+ that shit genuinely gets too fucking fast to read unless you do something to slow it down, but twitch generally updates instantly, youtube updates in bulk making even a slow chat feel fucking unuseable. >>103222461watching 100 messages pop up one at a time and flood when something hype happens is better on twitch then watching youtube instantly dump 100 messages at a time in bulk with no smooth scrolling up for them.
>>103222476ads just took a 95%+ hit due to the political streamers bullshit.
>>103223053youtube hosts the biggest streamers world wide, its just in the west that youtube didnt get streamers because twitch is relatively decent.
>>103221710Twitch has been dead for years. All the activity that you see on it is from bots.YouTube is no different. They've both been dead as a real platform for real content makers for a while now.
>>103222005>I can't block twitch adsI can. It's an IQ thing.
>>103227517That may be, but I can't be bothered. It's not that important to me. If it doesn't work with the standard ad blocker, I just won't visit the site. Not like I'm missing out on anything worthwhile.
>>103227469Over shit moderation instead of political streamer bs.
>>103227601Perfectly reasonable, I rarely use it myself. But in case you ever change your mind, I'll spoonfeed: https://github.com/pixeltris/TwitchAdSolutions
>>103221710The YT streaming shit just seems poorly thought out and organized. I don't even know how to browse YT streams, where do I go to see who is streaming, how do I browse by category or something, how do I find something I'm interested in? Even when a channel I'm subscribed to is streaming, unless the stream is randomly placed on the front page it seems retarded / difficult to access. I have to notice it's happening and then go to the channel and the stream to actually reach it.I have no idea what the fuck is going on with streaming on this platform, but it seems extremely cumbersome and badly organized.
Hello I used to work for Twitch. There's a few reasons Youtube keeps fucking up:1. Youtube is so much spaghetti code that getting anything to production takes forever.2. Twitch's advertising is worth much more than Youtube's is. Where Youtube uses volume to compensate, Twitch's advertising slots can be worth 5-10x more to an advertiser simply because it's highly targeted and unskippable.3. Twitch has developers that make an Amazon product that encodes live video. All of Kick encoding runs off of this and makes a metric fuckton for Amazon. Twitch doesn't make money on paper, but if you look at Amazon ad revenue and AWS revenue, you'll see that Twitch made huge impacts in both. People who say "Twitch doesn't make money" are morons, I've seen the rev.
>>103227469Btw it's because of this jew dan saltman. He said he was going after twitch advertising and he did it
>>103227469Who?
>>103229668Yeah okay so why doesn't Google just make YouTube.tv and do exactly what twitch is doing? Separate streams from the normal site and it's gg.
>>103221710Twitch became to streaming what youtube was to video streaming. It's like going to a place that sells suits and going to walmart who happen to also have a suit department. Both might be equal quality-wise but people that care about suits will not get theirs at walmart.
>>103227469That would be a good thing. Unfortunately, it's not true.>inb4 picrel is a faggotYes but he's right
Youtube refuses to add some sort of directory for easy access to livestreams. Youtube gaming was it for a bit but they never really did anything with it and thus it diedI doubt they'd ever make one though, the amount of little kids on it would make it a CSA heaven
>>103221881Twitch is speedrunning that too.
