I liked Unity. I hate GNOME. What should I use now on Ubuntu? This only for quick installations and shit I install on computer of computer illiterates. On my own computer I use an obscure bloat-free window manager.
xfce is nice
>>103224286Unity (Unity7) still exists, Lomiri (Unity8) toohttps://ubuntuunity.org/
>>103224286Your best option is probably XFCE, but MATE might be worth a try too.
>>103224286you only need 2 extensions to make gnome look however you want, instead you chose to be a whinny bitch. classic /g/, never change
>>103225730I want to make it look like this. Can you tell me how to do it?
>>103225781Use case for making it look like that?
>>103225781this is CDE. i don't think it's maintained so you'd have to fix a bunch of shit for it to build
>>103225651Correct.>>103224304>>103225723Unity has a dock, lenses, and allows for application menus to be integrated with the top bar, or window decorations. Moving a taskbar to the top of the screen does not make Xfce or Mate a viable replacement for Unity. Yes, there are global appmenu plugins for Xfce and Mate, but they do not work on a lot of distros. If you can get them working, you will still need to install additional software to approximate Unity's dock, but there is nothing like lenses for either DE.
>>103228974>application menus to be integrated with the top bar, or window decorations.I actually hate that feature. Causes nothing but problems.
>>103225781You can approximate this look with https://github.com/NsCDE/NsCDE
