Those who get a hard on by discussion their hobby, explain to me how important a PSU is to a beefy PC

Explain to it in porn terms, imagine my mom has a phat ass, does it have to be sturdy in order for it not to malfunction

its one of the most critical components and the one who can cause some of the most catastrophic failures.
so if you have a very power hungry computer you shouldnt cheap out on the PSU. also get a uninterrupted power supply so the PSU isnt directly connected to the socket in your wall.

I know, my Mobo flashed a white light I thought my rx6700xt was broken turns out it worked on my friend's pc

I've used a miner reject PSU with melted connectors for the past five years. It still works just fine.

I wanted to help, but then remembered that I shouldn't.

I use a 10 year old hx850i with my 9600x and 4070ti super.
It’s fine, I bought it used for $40 and got some cables for it.

Power supply nerds are parrots to hardware upselling marketing and hardware reviewers.
High end products have no value if there’s no reason to buy them over average options. And average options are perfectly fine. So instead of trying to give value to high end options, you devalue average ones.

99% of single gpu builds out there would be fine on a thermaltake smartpower 80+ white unit for cheap.

Or get a used power supply, old high end units or even relatively modern ones can be extremely cheap, and it’s because people don’t trust them as used goods, because for 20 years dipshit hardware reviewers have been telling you to never chance anything and just buy a $200 power supply for every single build.
They don’t want you to look at used hardware as a reasonable option.

And here comes some retard to reply to this post repeating some nonsense they read on the Linus tech tips forum.

Your moms fat ass is like the hertzian waveform coming from the wall outlet; "curvy but curdled". The stretch marks, pimples and textures need a dermatologist. That is the psu. You want a gold/Plat rated PSU like you want a 5 star dermatologist otherwise it's gonna leave scars.
>>
Somewhat counterintuitively, if you look at high wattage PSUs, you can sometimes find a really good deal over mid range ones. I think it might be because people see they don't need so much power so they don't shop at that range.
I got a 1200W 80+ Platinum for £50, cables included.

The only thing you need to watch out for is a failing fans unit on used PSU's and most of the time you can even fix those. This is where I want to wish pic related existed before I bought a psu 10 years ago now, but I'll be goddamned if I'm gonna pay probably 400 fucking dollars just for a logo. You could just replace the fan in it with a thin noctua fan and it would last basically indefinitely, which I might do next rebuild.

After three failures in the past I am never buying Corsair.

What models/wattage? I have a tx650 (bronze shitter) that's run like a champ for 9 years.

Would you pump that fat ass, figuratively. and you are saying someone with a fat cock (RTX 4070) could damage that ass (weak PSU)
>>103228479
High Wattage PSUs don't mean anything what means is good quality I think

>>103228380
Decent setup
>>
>>103228479
People don't buy used PSUs as a general rule. That and the flood of mining PSUs have caused a firesale for anyone not paranoid.

Down to chat with anyone like a post-mortem, I guess it's not about only the PSU and other compotents, but I'm especially intrigued by dudes who combine porn and my hobby

It would be extremely painful (for PSU).

They're generally more expensive, which I think is why people avoid them on resale.
The 80+ Platinum is the closest you'll get to a meaningful and testable measure of quality.
>>103228637
Yeah, it's great. You can cash in on the fear by buying used anyway. LTT's video on buying ex-mining rig GPUs is the only truly valuable thing he has ever produced.

Just ordered an4070ti Super. Putting it in my current setup will bring my total TDP to 464W so I'm wondering if my 600W platinum corsair PSU will handle it, or if it could end up frying my new shit. I do know its not ideal in terms of efficiency however.
I have a 750W gold rated PSU but i'm building in a SFF case and it would be a pain in the ass getting it all to fit, even though it is possible.
