I wanna buy sim-level hardware for arcade racers and I'm wondering how viable this is, especially for emulation.

I do check out a sim from time to time but mainly for flight. For ground racing, I much prefer the arcade-style racer and by Arcade I mean something straight out of the arcade like Daytona USA, Initial D, or Sega Race TV. These are all playable to some degree on emulation (Mame, Console) or a compatibility layer through something like Tekonparrot but I was wondering what is recommended in terms of software to get these things working with force feedback and general functionality (IE to make it feel like a wheel and not just an emulated analog stick, minimal deadzones, etc).

The hardware I'm looking at is a Fanatec CSL DD.

i think you might have better luck asking on /v/ desu

They will only talk about games if I I can find a racing sim with chocolate girls that have fat tits and the game is also Gacha.

Anon, buying such an expensive setup makes 0 sense when the games you want to play never emitted any useful force feedback signals at all (except maybe Initial D). You could try looking for software cope mods that enable some sort of force feedback, but it's gonna be absolute shit and even then you'd be wasting your money buying an overpriced overpowered Fanacuck wristsnapper wheel that is meant for more realistic sims like rFactor or iRacing.
Just buy a used Logitech G27 and you've got more than enough for those games. Don't buy direct drive unless you want to play actual ground racing sims.

Nah, /v/ is basically coomer reddit. I'd tell OP to ask /ovg/ instead but it's just a sad circlejerk with no info on the topic at all.

Alright assuming that the force feedback sucks, what about deadzone configuration. Again, don't want it to be like a glorified analog stick.

That's the fault of the game, not the hardware's. But yeah, the G27 drivers have deadzone configurations, maximum steering angle, FFB adjustments and pretty much everything you need for both arcade and even simulation if you're a beginner.

Would the direct drive variant of logitech's software be worth checking out if I get into Sims later? I'm asking because I'd pretty much have to buy used to justify some of these prices. Whatever has the best software or driver support to get me "into" the game.

Fanatec's direct drive CSL system with the 8 neuton meter model (no wheel or pedals) is 200 bucks rn which is kind of a screaming deal.

Just get a sim rig with hydraulics and a VR headset like the pimax crystal, best sim setup. Monitors are lame.
>>
just buy the standard g29 or whatever.
you'll know when to upgrade

If you want games with actual force feedback you gotta play sims. Dirt rally 2, WRC, Assetto Corsa series, richard burns rally, etc etc. Arcade games just do not expose ground/track/car conditions to the wheel.

I didn't know the Fanatec DD was so cheap now, but you have to keep in mind that they recently went bankrupt (I am not shitting you) and that they are kikes that force you to buy their $300 pedals and $100 shifter.

I started with a G25 and it was good enough for me to play real sims for at least 2 years, then I got consistently faster and ended up upgrading to a direct drive wheel. But keep in mind that these wheels require either a 30kg desk that doesn't move at all or a dedicated metal rig you mount them on, because they are beasts that engage your entire back and core muscles when they're at their peak torque, and they vibrate like mad fucks. Direct drive is very fun, but don't underestimate it, and don't go into it without having tried a normal gear/pulley steering wheel first.

If you want a slight improvement over the G27 (don't get the G29, it's way too expensive and does pretty much nothing new) you can get a Thurstmaster T300RS.

what

cannot add much other than there are ways to calibrate the force feedback of a wheel, and it makes a ton of diference. at least for me.
not all games suports it tho

Oh shit that might be why it's so cheap I had no idea.

See, now you have me thinking about saving some cash and grabbing all their shit on a fire sale. I am aware of how much of a monster 8 neutonmeters of force is, my plan is to build a dedicated sim station with a flight stick setup as well. Flying games is my main goal but I might grab all this shit asap.

CSL DD is a great wheelbase, but force feedback will probably be a challenge and motion feedback is not even possible with some sims. Arcade racers are meant for controllers. They also probably don't play nice with tripples.
Apart from that, motion feedback sounds a lot cooler than it actually is. It's got pretty substantial delay.

Fanatec CSL DD.
Fanatec is shit tier consumer slop. Get a SIMMAGIC Alpha

You will enjoy your hardware for a year and then you will get tired of it and want something else

It's not a bad idea to ask /v/, or even /o/.

i has a csl dd, v3 pedals and the fanatec shifter. the shifter feels a lot like the old daytona arcade one if thats what you're looking for. sim hardware is just xinput/dinput for the most part, so it should work with whatever emulator assuming the emulator supports the input. the gear is hard to sell if you don't like it, so id suggest trying a g29/920 first to see if u like it first. they are pretty easy to sell.
