Just make the jump from 7 to 10 LTSC

You have to upgrade from 7 to 10 2015 LTSB and then to 10 2021 IOT LTSC.

Performance wise, 10 IOT LTSC takes as much resources as regular 7. 10 IOT LTSC is supposed to be the successor to 7 embedded posready, so while it uses a lot more resources than that, it ends up being equivalent to regular 7.

MS does a good job with the 7 to 2015 10 LTSB upgrade tool.

You get modern software/hardware support + same overhead.

You can use a 7 transformation pack for 10 to get most of the 7 gui back.

11 IOT LTSC uses more resources anyway, so stick with 10.

I did this a few weeks back, it's working out ok.

Windows is fine for now.

He is actually right. In 2024, a just werks linux distribution requires pretty much no tinkering in the vast majority of cases to have usable desktop OS. Thats not the case for deadshitos however, since you need to apply a few different hacks manually to get similar experience to what linux gives you out of the box.
>b-b-b-but muh photoshop
You can't really run modern productivity tools on deadshitos anyway. In fact most programs nowadays will not work at all and doing anything other than shitposting / playing ancient games on it will be a challenge to say the least.

This might be an unpopular opinion but someone needs to say it:
Windows 11 works great and only costs 200 bucks. Stop fucking with these weird LTSB builds made for ATM's and PoS machines and use a real operating system. You can make 200 dollars with a few minutes of day trading or just working at a McDonald's for a few days. There's no excuse.

Also the bullshit 4 main different LTSC versions of W10 is why I haven't upgraded yet. I ask around what version is best and why and everyone says "idk lol". I need it for a Sandy Bridge thinkpad with igpu only. The other serious problem is telemetry, some say it can be fully disabled, others that it is impossible, knowing how jewish Microsoft can be, but also knowing some retarded subhumans struggle to install a cpu with like 3 ways of determining the correct orientation, knowing these things I seriously do not know who to believe here.

Manufacturers don't make Linux drivers for laptop mainboards. Linux just defaults to legacy power states and then uses more power and has less battery life. Plus every once in a while the kernel devs fuck up existing drivers, but that happens so much it's not newsworthy.

kubuntu if you want something that's a bit more fancy with extra customization options
an arch based distro like endeavor os can also work

pop os if you are going to be gaming a lot

What do I use to get the Classic GUI back? The last time I checked, it wasn't great, and you still had the ugly new Settings thing. Have they fixed this yet?
>>
>>103252497
i'm happy for you or whatever, but you're just enjoying the fact that governments haven't been bribed enough by hollywood to make torrenting seriously illegal. they probably know that such a law would just make VPNs more popular, which would give them less control than they started with. the situation changes when devices can cryptographically prove what software they are running, as it allows governments to skip the whole due process step.

Does windows 10 LTSC have a foolproof way of completely disabling automatic restarts?

If MS sold individual LTSC licences, I would certainly consider paying, but they are quite happy to activate it for you for free.
