Is there really literally any distros worth a damn that aren't these two?
Debian for servers and stuff that needs to be rock solidand arch for DIY shit.
>muh mint
Just use debian?
>muh gentoo
Arch is DIY enough?
>muh Ubuntu
It's just debian
>fedora
Professional? Sounds like you need something that just performs.... use debian
>manjaro
Archinstall is simple, use arch
>>
I use macOS and I'm employed.

What if I want something that is not DIY but still up to date?
>>
>Just use debian?
Or just don't?
If you want something stable, just use one of the Red Hat derivatives.

Otherwise, use Arch.
>>
OP you are a pretty stupid individual.

Arch with archinstall is not really DIY. System is ready when installed. You just configure it normally like puttnig the software you want on it.
>>
>>103234507
Why? Most users don't need more than a bog standard desktop distro. I recon 90% of Linux users can get away with these and maybe one or two other distros.
>>
>>103234358
RHEL because contacts and support
>>
>>103234698
>Why?
Because you're an attention seeking faggot looking to cash in on the "muh debian and muh arch is all anyone needs" meme. You don't want a good faith discussion, you want upvotes and (You)s from the anti-corporate contrarian cult. Neck yourself.

what dud cirporations ever do for me?

I literally started that meme

Is there any point installing Arch on a laptop that barely gets used? I think debian would be a better option

Go for Ubuntu LTS

I don't like Ubuntu so I'll settle with Debian. I have arch on my desktop since I'm always on it and can update whenever.
>>
arch/artix/endeavour for decent glibc desktop
fedora for "i have no time to configure" glibc desktop
alpine for enlightenment
>>
>>103234358
Debian or Fedora, not Arch. Arch is a niche distro that isn't even supported in as many architectures as other distros are. It's just 30 dudes writing automated packaging script that couldn't even handle proper signing so Valve gave them a signing server out of pity and Arch stated they were working with Valve now kek
It isn't minimal, and their concept of simple is ideological instead of pragmatic.
>>
Why anyone pushes Debian is beyond me. Who wants to run old packages and kernels?

Even arch isn't so good as given its bleeding edge it can have problems upon updating, you never know.

For my usage? Yes. For everyone, no.

Debian unstable better maintained.

People have different needs.
Fedora, Ubuntu and Gentoo are important distros.
