>listen to music on expensive, completely "flat" headphones and then flat speakers too>everything sounds lifeless, borderline harsh and mid emphasized What the absolute fuck. So reality is actually sounds absolutely horrendous?
Yes.Music gets produced with the average playback device in mind and most use shitty playback devices so in turn shit sounds awful when played back on systems that show the truth.
They're mostly for mixing/mastering or if you want fine fundamental control over frequency response when EQing/post processing
>>103234734because you're used to having your music destroyed by forced EQ thats why high end systems have hardware EQ sperates so you can tune it yourself and get that Dre BASS BOOM that you crave
>>103234734It is incredibly rare to find releases that are mixed with flat headphones in mind. Pretty much every big artist will listen to their master on popular buds and headphones and try to make the track sound good on those.>>103234838>tune it yourselfAll music is "pre-tuned" in mix and master you are basically never going to EQ a track that is flat. The only thing you do by buying head flat headphones if the intent is to use them to listen to music is waste money.
I think it's crucial to always crank it up to the max and use software to level it down when you're a programmer. If you don't do that, you're a little shit in my eyes.
>>103234734can I get a qrd on flat headphones and how to get one?
>>103236321If you don't really know anything about them chances are you don't need them
>>103234734Listen to real music.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Abk1jAONjw
>>103237620wtf
>>103234734Only acoustic music (from baroque music to folk) is meant to be listened on flat headphones and flat speakers.Flat is supposed to reproduce accurately the sound of acoustic instruments.
>>103237620https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VcQP1HXN_wactual real music, and use the samson sr850s thank me later
>>103234734I like flat equipment because it's easier to EQ from flat to whatever sound profile I want, than it is to EQ from one sound profile to another. Especially considering that flat is harder to achieve and most equipment that isn't flat has weird peaks and dips that you're not going to be able to EQ out fully.
>>103239528>Only acoustic music (from baroque music to folk) is meant to be listened on flat headphones and flat speakersThis is also why I want flat. Turn off EQ and acoustic stuff sounds amazing. Then put EQ back on to pump up the bass and scoop the mids for pop.
>>103239859Yes, that's the best way to be able to enjoy any type of music.
>>103234734Turns out bass is funFlat speakers are used for mastering
>>103234734Yes, flat response is a dumb meme if you are not producing music yourself. It is desirable for mastering and that's all.If you're just listening for enjoyment, you are better off getting something that colours the sound in a way you enjoy. My favourite headphones ever were Grado which are incredibly far from neutral, they make everything sound warm and airy.
>>103240219>Grado>*shouts in Australian*
>>103240231? Grado is an American brand
>>103239647Way more experimental and interesting than I expected at first.
>>103234734Bro this is placebo effect. Your brain can't tell the difference.

>>103234734>fell for the flat response meme >didn't learn about EQautoeq.app
>>103234734I am depressed therefore I am a realist.I listen to music on Beyerdynamics headphones because the truth is ugly and I accept that. You're obviously an iToddler that needs airpods, so I suggest you buy that.
