So i'm finally getting to upgrade my first pc build's GPU and i'm having trouble deciding what to do with my trusty old 6600xt. Rationally, i could just sell it for a quick buck since I wont have a use for it, but for some reason, i'm feeling sentimental towards it since it was part of the build that sparked an interest for learning about hardware and software.I've seen some people on here display their old components, namely their graphics cards but I was wondering what else people do with their potential e-waste.
keep it, you should always have a backup GPU for emergencies, same applies to a power supply.
>>103237490that sounds like a valid option. would it be better to try and preserve my GPU vs superfluously adding it to a machine that runs fine using a CPU with integrated graphics?
it goes in a box until it's worthless and I have no systems that are compatible with it and then it gets thrown out before retro nostalgia makes it valuable again
>>103237490>you should always have a backup GPU for emergenciesnot unless your job or livelihood is dependent on on your computer. this mentality is what leads to people hoarding worthless shit like motherboards or IDE cables because "muh emergency". you're not a recording studio that needs extra old Mac Pros because your shit doesn't work with new hardware. The Best Buy around the corner will always have a $60 RX 6300 nobody wants if it comes down to that.
>>103237490>backup GPUuse integrated graphics. All AMD and Intel processors have it. >could just sell it for a quick buckdo it as long as nvidia 5xxx isn't released. I had a 1070 since early 2017 and mined hundreds of dollars of eth, played countless hours of games but sold it. It is better when your GPU can fulfill it's purpose further than sitting in a box until it is obsoltete
>>103237343ask a friend if they want it
>All AMD and Intel processors have it. all NEW AMD and intel processors have itFtfyAMD didn't have iGPUs 'till 7000 series
