black friday is coming/going on

the most controversial topic of the year is if OLED tvs still reign supreme or if we go with the new qdoled monitors, advicefags chime in
>>
>>103237532
Just bought a 48" LG C2 off of Marketplace for $650 with 140ish hours on it and couldn't be happier. Beautiful as a monitor.
>>
>>103237532
>OLED TVs reign supreme
never did.
>>
>>103239155
oled monitors didn't exist, everyone was using tvs until oled monitors came out
not poors tho, even though they were cheap forever

>>103239107
those were like 799 or 899 during sales now 2 gens old
sounds expensive
>>
>>103239572
>oled monitors didn't exist
>>
>>103237532
the best two oled monitors imo is the alienware 4k240hz monitor and the lgc4 42”
>>
Does there exist any 19" or smaller monitor that is 1080p, that is also not a portable monitor?

If not, is 900p acceptable for a 19"? I have a 22" 1080p and honestly it's too large for me. I'm probably the only person on the planet who thinks so, but I just miss when monitors were smaller.
>>
>>103240593
>Does there exist
Yes
>>
>>103240593
those are doodoo quality dawg
>>
I just need a cheap $100 23" IPS
Should I get a """gaming""" monitor anyway? Like it seems 90% of options are labeled that way. I have no idea what all the response times and "grey to grey" contrast ratio and viewing angles even mean. None of that existed when I bought my last one.
>>
>>103237532
Could screensavers prevent burn-in in oleds?
>>
Cheapest OLED TV will probably be the LG B4 48".
>>
>>103241426
Apparently so. Many TVs have them.
Funny that most linux distros dropped screensavers just in time for them to be useful again.
>>
If you want actual good HDR, then a 42" OLED TV is better than any OLED monitor.
>>
>>103237532
I sent back my OLED because it was purple not black when any kind of light source existed, plus the text fringing sucked. I managed to get over accepting it would be great for 3-4 years before burn in killed it but the other flaws were a dealbreaker. I got a miniLED instead and I'm very happy with it. With localdimming on it still has incredible blacks (never purple) and there's no text fringing, knowing it'll still work in 10 years as a second monitor is a comfort too. So from my experience I would recommend miniLED other OLED for monitors, if you're buying a TV solely to use in a light controlled theatre room then OLED would fine. For me it'll be miniLED until microLED or a real post-OLED technology without the flaws comes out in reasonable sizes for ~$1000
>>
>>103243273
I forgot to mention the flaw with localdimming, it's not good for dark shows with subtitles, so I turn it off for anime/Kdrama, still looks great but I would be biased if I didn't mention this flaw
>>
>>103237532
>be oled
>250 nit brightness
>burn in
>pixel refresh humiliation ritual every 4 hours
>just use a dark wallpaper bro
>just hide the task bar bro
>can't display gray colors properly
>black color looks pink
>text and thin lines have pink outlines
>color accuracy degrades over time
>>
>>103241426
it doesn't prevent overall degradation
>>
got a horizontal red line that's appeared and will change colour depending on what its showing. appears in the bios. is it over? it comes and goes.
>>
Probably going to buy the Innocn 32m2v if it gets any cheaper on black friday (not really a thing here). Currently using a 1440p 60Hz Dell Ultrasharp from 2014.

I was considering one of the new OLEDs, but I'm primarily going to use it for productivity in a brightly lit room which seems like the absolute worst usecase for an OLED. Proponents generally suggest "controlling the light" in your room which seems to be a nice way of saying "sitting in the dark", which feels like a huge compromise to have to make to use such expensive monitors.

>>103243273
This post has further cemented my decision
>>
Mini LED ones looks almost the same price as an OLED... Lots of flaws with low zone counts.
I want something at least on par with M1 MBP Display for PC
>>
All modern displays hurt my eyes so badly I can't stare at them for more than 2 minutes.
>>
>>103243548
What monitor? I heard of such lines appearing if you do not remove protection cover from the screen on lg panels, and disappearing soon after you do.
>>
>>103243899
I have the same problem, can't use any led monitors no matter the type - white edge, rgb, fald, with or without qd - everything hurts. Can only use ancient ccfl or oled.
>>
>>103244082
There seems to be very few of us around so I suppose nobody will ever look into it. It fucking sucks, man. I don't know what to do.
>>
dell monitors are very durable and remain useable even after damage
if youre an autistic freak like me that goes apeshit at video games and punches their screen in a fit of rage, invest in a few
>>
>>103243273
You didn't buy an OLED.
You bought a QD-OLED.
Of course it's going to be purple, that's one of the main reasons not to get one.
>>
>>103239107
you NPCs all have the same screens

>DUDE C2
>DUDE C2
>DUDE C2
>>
>>103244569
is there something wrong with that? OLED monitors are still stupidly expensive compared to TVs.

>Have AW3225QF
Strictly regarding what a monitor does (display graphics), it is god-tier. But factoring in maintenance (pixel refresh every four hours, occasional panel refresh), price, the power needed to make great use of it (i.e. an expensive GPU), and possible degradation (I haven't had it for long), I don't think I'd recommend it desu. Maybe if you're HDR gaming all day, or you just have a shitload of money and want the best you can possibly get.

With that said, there is one common complaint I hear about this monitor that is just completely wrong: The brightness.
This monitor is very bright. HDR mode hurts my eyes. It is night here and I'm at 4% brightness. In the day time I turn it up to 20%. Anyone who thinks this monitor is too dim should get their eyes checked.
>>
>>103244599
How's the HDR performance on this thing?
>>
>>103244624
I don't have much to compare it to besides my TV (LG C2) and, technically, my phone. But I think it's great. I was blown away by DOOM Eternal. Not like "Yeah this looks $600 better than my last monitor" blown away, but it was seriously great.
I should play more videogames
>>
>>103237532
Got me one of those C-monitors for like 80 bucks, and I'm happy with it.

Wastes less energy, none of the pixels are dead, AMOLED works fine and it's almost portable.

It's no touchscreen, but it's well suited to what I need.
>>
>>103244576

EAT SOME SALAD
>>
>>103237532
Not getting OLED until the RGB subpixel ones
>b-b-b-but y-y-you can't see the fringing
I can. Get better eyes and better standards, faggot.

good morning sars please redeem LG oled monitor. very good monitor mrmmm yers beaitfal picture
*bobbles head*
kindfully considering the monitor dont burning in
>>
Would love to get a recommendatio for two screens. I got myself a bombass rig during the year (4080S) but I'm still using that old Sony TV. Not sure but it could be a Plasma tv to add shame to injury.
I'm a developer (software and gamedev) and I also play with it. A collegue told me that there was a specific type of screens that made reading code more pleasant to the eyes.
>>
>>103243899
>>103244082
I don't know if it's the same deal but I had to turn the brightness down on my newest monitor to literally 0. Only at that point did it feel "right" to me and whites weren't eye-pain blinding.
It still feels a little too bright. I turned the contrast to 75 and set color control to "neutral". It's a little bit yellowed, "native" is probably better. This is an HP monitor, other brands probably have different configurations.
Obviously this isn't the best idea overall since now dark images are hard to distinguish plus the color control problem. But anything else is like staring at a tanning bed.
>>
>>103244797
Considering bouying one of these to code while on the road. Do you know if letters appears small?
>>
>>103240593
>I'm probably the only person on the planet who thinks so, but I just miss when monitors were smaller.
You're not the only one. I find it easier to concentrate with smaller monitors.

Samsung QD-OLED ODYSSEY G6 (1440p 27inch) for $560

y/n?
>>
>>103246607
Why would you spend that much money and not just get a 4k monitor why do you play on such a low resolution
>>
>>103241426
Don't believe their lies. They like to say "burn in is virtually impossible" and an army of online bots saying "mine never got burn in". It's obvious that it does. You'll cringe every time something red appears on the screen
>>
>>103247513
>why do you play on such a low resolution
no gpu can output 4k games so this question doesn't make sense
>>
>>103247585
Yeah sure buddy I've been playing 4K games for multiple years
>>
>>103247661
>480p internal resolution upscaled with DLSS & framgen
nice "4k" you got there

they didn't for any consumers in any stretch at all in the beginning with the lg tvs when they were popular

>>103240058
those are some of my choices...

>>103241775
that's what I heard atleast in full scene brightness idk....

>>103243273
those were also the first gen qdoled panels, now you have 4k 140ppi and better subpixel structure which cleaned it up more
the purple hue still exist tho, but can also be reduced if you buy the matte samsungs
>if you're buying a TV solely to use in a light controlled theatre room then OLED would fine.
I looked at qdoled in retail store and it was fine though, even with glossy, and woled tvs are better with light sources

>>103243395
>>250 nit brightness
it's fine
>>burn in
later
>>pixel refresh humiliation ritual every 4 hours
not if a good monitor that handles the refreshes and doesn't annoy you and can be skipped
>>just use a dark wallpaper bro
>>just hide the task bar bro
your choice
>>can't display gray colors properly
woled looks worse than qdoled there which looks fine I believe
>>black color looks pink
qdoled in light
>>text and thin lines have pink outlines
depends on panel and subpixels bra
>>color accuracy degrades over time
you think your panel will be accurate without calibration forever?

>>103243783
they are fine in light though idk
>This post has further cemented my decision
most of them have been resolved kinda

>>103244599
>or you just have a shitload of money and want the best you can possibly get.
everything else except oled is boring, lcds are not cheap enough to warrant them here either
>But factoring in maintenance (pixel refresh every four hours
as long as it goes on auto when sleep/idle it's fine

>>103245634
nobody know if they will drop it, also from LG so not sure if it will beat qdoled

>>103246607
it's matte if u want that
>>
Wait for CES in January 2025
>>
>>103243395
>250 nit brightness
More than bright enough, what is this weird obsession with wanting a monitor brighter than the sun.
