The "dead resolution" that:>is the most common resolution on steam for 10 years plus>what most games are internally rendering at on consoles >most common res that content is streamed at>widespread support and scales nicely with 4k
What is the point of this thread?
>>103238448to complain about 1080p complainers
>>1032383551080p was never dead? it's ideal for viewing and plus the eye won't distinguish much better past it anyway so who cares.
>>103238355Anything beyond 800x600 is pointless.
>>103238494retarded comparison is retarded
>>103238355i wish ota tv would fucking move on beyond 720p already
>>103238448to spam the forum of hackers who trick people into rm -rf
>>103238478a bunch of people on reddit and this board think it is
>>1032383551080p is literally the only res that matters. you retards need to realize that if you see a thread on reddit with 10 thousand upvotes saying that 1440p/4k is now the current standard that just means you saw 10 thousand retarded redditors post a dumb shitpost, you did not see what the average person thinks or owns, there are 8.2 billion people on the planet, let's do some math.https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/8,189,182,152 - 10000 = 8189172152so in total 8189172152 disagree with 10000 people you saw on reddit. congratulations
1440p was a mistake. 1080p and 4k are fine.
>>103238850My problem with 4K is that it's too dense for 100% DPI at any practical size. Fuck fractional scaling.
>>10323835516/9 sucks for everything, 3/2 is just better, that's a fact.
>>103238448To pretend 1080p hadn't stopped being interesting or impressive 14 years ago.
>>103238998agreed
People were using 640x480 from 1987 until 2001 when Windows XP mandated 800x600 minimum 1024x768 recommended.
>>103238954I compromised with an 1440p monitor but if I ever go larger screen it's going to be 4K. I assume that with the right graphics settings I wouldn't even notice if fullscreen games are 1080p on a 4K monitor. Then when I exit a game it's crisp text and icons again.
>>103239389the loss in frame rate makes it not worth it to me. Not gunna spend a grand on a gpu either
>>103238355Don't care still downloading 4k remuxes
>>103238355>hourly poorfag cope thread
>still in 1080p lol
>>103238355Dude we've hit the upper limit of our fucking eyes. After a certain point it doesn't get better.
>>103240865you should get an eye exam
The only 1080p content I find acceptable is tv/movies. Because I don't have unlimited storage to hold 4k files.I've been using a 1440p monitor for a decade at this point, and mostly game on my 4k oled tv.The masses are poor gay retards, we know OP.
>>103238355it just works.
>>103241216For now but realtime REAL esrgan 1080p to 4K upscaling via a sub-$1,000 desktop PCs is probably only a few years away at most.
my television is still 1080p and I have no reason to upgrade. the only console I have is a switch so 1080p is enoughall the torrents I download are 1080p as well and only occasionally cast to me TV.if only there was a 1080p oled dumbTV
Counterpoint: higher resolutions at the same screen size stuff looks a lot better. 200+ ppi displays will be the future, we'll probably stop at around 300ppi (standard for printing).
>>103241216Darn, I was hoping you had created this from a blu-ray screenshot. Resrgan overcompensated too much for the JPG artefacting and fucked up the lines. On the bright side it only took 20 minutes instead of the usual ~1 hour on my 2200G beast. Not much to upscale I guess.
>>103242137have i read this comment before? Anyhow I would have a higher ppi display but i dont really wanna have to upgrade everything else as well. And they're obsessed with making monitors bigger and bigger
>>103242387>have i read this comment before?Maybe in another form, I've posted something similar before.>Anyhow I would have a higher ppi display but i dont really wanna have to upgrade everything else as well.Fair, we're not quite there yet when it comes to 8k. Especially gaming and workstation tasks.
>>103239045800x600 was the minimum because by that point everyone was using at least 1024x768, 640x480 was long dead
>>1032424508k? thats gonna take forever
>>103242729I mean 8k monitors and TVs are already a thing, just prohibitively expensive just like how 4k was 10 years ago.
>>103242739i just dont see the point, and most people already sit too far to really discern 4k res. Also keep in mind a lot of content isnt in 4k yet, especially antenna tv.
