Very nice!

I use Firefox + arkenfox

He used to work for Apple, so he is an iChad. But in all honesty, he was using Linux a few months ago, so I wonder why he switched to Mac.
>lead dev cant into C++

He isn't rewriting it to switch because he can't into C++, it's just because C++ is an outdated unsafe language and swift aligns well with Ladybird design while being modern and safer :)

>Ladybird
Firefox struggles to keep up with web standards despite getting millions of dollars for being Googles bitch, Ladybird has like 7 devs and they don't even support Windows yet (in other words, ~80% of users CAN'T use their browser).
While it would be very cool to get a new independent browser that isn't Chrome reskin #234, I don't see Ladybird being good enough for a long time, we'll be lucky if it becomes usable in the next 10 years

why would browsers need to keep with standards? is there like a law?

Somehow in half a sentence you made me go from being excited for Ladybird to despising it. Congratulations.

I mean, it is modern when compared to C++, that's for sure.

Firefox has been dependent on Google welfare since 2004, before then they were on welfare from AOL of all companies.

LibreWolf has the exact same telemetry enabled as Firefox, always has so no idea why people even use it. Just longer time window to get patches.

Market demand. There are smaller web browsers that only support a subset of the current web standard, but no one outside of techies with niche interests uses them because they can't do what people want from web browsers anymore. You can't watch videos online without JavaScript and PHP support, which already adds a lot to the workload of making a browser, and that's not even getting into what it takes to play web games anymore.

The era of using external plugins to add functionality to web browsers is officially dead. Apple and Google killed it when they dropped Flash support. Now in order to build a browser that people will actually use, it needs to be at least competent at doing everything that Chrome, Firefox, and Safari can do, and that's a tall order.

He's right.
And every Chromium fork is also just Chrome with some slightly changed config settings.
