Computers hit their absolute peak once USB 3.0 dropped. Since then, there hasn't been a single development worth a shit.
>>
I disagree.

your thread is wrong and incorrect

if we're just talking connectivity then thunderbolt really changed the game
40gb/s throughput including possibly multiple monitors, USB devices and power delivery (or just plug in an external GPU)
beats convenience of USB 3

USB 3.0 dropped during windows 98?
>>
>>103244270
Ok. I know this isn't the place to ask this. But since you bring up thunderbolt with multiple monitors, peripherals, and power delivery. Will a single thunderbolt connection power my 2 1080p 165Hz monitors, while running several peripherals and powering my gaming laptop? I've had a hard time finding an answer to the running multiple monitors questions.

>Thunderbolt supports higher bandwidth relative to DisplayPort in daisy chain, which allows for 4K@60Hz for two monitors, and up to six monitors at 1080p@60Hz
copied from BenQ website
I think it still depends on host machine TB 3/4 and monitor specs
generally speaking it should work, no idea about vrr or if response times are impacted by daisychaining
>>
>>103244270
my usb-c is doing multiple monitors fine enough, power delivery is also an option
also
>multiple monitors using thunderbolt when majority of M-chips laptops are artificially limited to 1 external monitor (or closed down lid fucking the temps up)
apple at its finest
>>103244147
>peak
>same shit but faster
>shows picrel of that one connector that is not backwards compatible
how about
>m1, the first actually usable arm processor and rosseta2 to make x86 programs work well with it
>usb-c, actually a good usb connector
fuck now when i think about it that's it, everything else is either same shit but faster or made worse on purpose
>>
>>103244561
USB-C is a connector, not the underlying protocol used to transmit data
if you wanted you could solder a custom connector that talks thunderbolt 3/4 if you keep to the spec (and pay royalties to jewtel)
also fuck apple silicon, go read about gofetch and how it stole your performance as it's a security hole in the processor that had to be circumvented in Software
>>
>>103244622
by that logic
>fuck intel, go read about spectre and meltdown and how it stole your performance as it's a security hole in the processor that had to be circumvented in Software
>USB-C is a connector, not the underlying protocol used to transmit data
I know, and it's using USB to do that
>>
Ban smartphones so computers can become good again
>>
>>103244147
it identifies as usb 3.1 gen 1 now you biggot
>>
>>103245840
Actually it's USB3.2 Gen1x1

anyway anyone related to the usb naming convention should be shot

Why couldn't they just do like wifi and call it USB 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
for me it will always be 802.11ac, 802.11ax, ...

>>
>>103245921
they started with wifi 6, then officially renamed 4 and 5. the previous gens are unofficially assumed to follow the sequence
>>
>>103244147
All data should be fiber. The power should be on 2OT cables so your power cords double as a personal protection device. It should then have a protective sleeve so it looks like a giant purple dildo. All data cables should be giant purple dildos.
>>
>>103245921
You didn't have wifi in 2010?
>>
>>103248654
Mate I still run cable to my router. Fuck, I'd run an ethernet cable to my phone if it was practical.
>>
>>103244147
>waiting for usb nvme sticks
>brb
>>
>>103244147
It's nice to not need to worry about plugging in a USB-C cable the right way it's much more simpler that way
>>
>>103244147
>completely ignores nvme
