faggots these days with their dark modes everywhere must die
>>
Dark mode = zoomer mode
>>
ive never not used dark mode... old people
>>
wasn't the whole point of dark mode (at least on early oled/amoled phones) the battery savings from the pixels not turning on when true blacks were displayed?
I use whatever the system defaults to, so I've got a hodgepodge of dark & light modes across my monitors
>>
i code with light mode, way more comfortable.

The guy that made the first terminal was a zoomer? Did he zoom into your great grandma bathing naked or something?

>>natural to the eyes
it's a monitor, by no means is it remotely natural
>>
>>103246050
dark mode was the original
terminals used light for text and absence of light for background.
light mode is just one more thing where the only reason it exists is to show off that it can be done rather than doing something because it should be done.
black on white is a necessity in printing tells you everything you need to know.
>>
Dark mode is a simulacrum of the highest order.
Back when screens were naturally dark, there was no need for distinction. A blank white page was essentially just a gray.
>>
Light mode during the day, dark mode at night.
I had to work with zoomers once and they self-segregated into a room, closed the curtains and turned off the lights to make their dark mode more usable.
I don't believe they did any work there.

dark ui IS adjusting brightness, dark is just low brightness retard
>>works better day & night. Up the brightness by day and lower it by night, even in completely dark rooms.
work day & night, dont raise or lower brightness needed
>>natural to the eyes
darkness is more natural since there is no difference to artificial darkness and natural darkness, the opposite is true for light
>>everything is made with light mode in mind first, dark comes second
lots of software that don't even come with light ui, less default light software doesnt come with dark ui
>>no longer have to squint and frown to read text((especially big walls of text))
get glasses or or larger display or smnt, i dont squint in dark ui
>>looks beautiful on macos
looks the same that dark UI, see previous point
>>
The reason boomers prefer light mode and zoomers prefer dark mode is that zoomers have never read a single book

The reason I prefer dark mode is because unlike books, my screen emits light, sorry that I had to explain this to your demented ass, boomer.
>>
black mode is better for eyes

its not rocket science to figure out - less background (insignificant) light comes to an eye - easier to handle/distinguish objects (letters, controls)

also its not a "zoomer invention", all terminals are black by default because they come from traditional terminals text-mode terminals that are in the black mode.

black color is harder to display than white. actually there is no such thing as black color, see - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SRGB there is no black color. old CRT displays and cheap displays cant show black correctly, it still radiates some grayish light
>>
>>103248778
books dont emit light stupid

Light mode is preferable. With dark mode the background, which occupies the majority of the screen space, is dark, which causes your pupils to dilate to take in more light. More dilated pupils means more flaring from light sources and a generally less sharp vision, meaning the white text will have some bloom, making it look blurry and causing you to strain your eyes to read it. That effect is less noticeable for people with perfect eyesight (but still present), but it can be made worse by astigmatism, which will make the flaring worse.

It's actually the opposite, see >>103248947

i prefer the background to be yellow and the font white.

There's no physical disctinction between emitted and reflected light that's relevant in this context. If you measure the light coming from a book page in an illuminated room, or an LCD screen, they may well emit similar energy.
You probably just turn up brightness too high and then complain.
>>
>>103249003
>if you measure
dimmest option in the middle of night will emit more light than book will reflect of brightest day, kill yourself
>>
I really don't understand how we've gotten to the point as a society where people bicker over whether light mode or dark mode is better. Just ten years ago it was considered a standard feature in a lot of user interfaces to be able to install your own themes and color schemes, and you were encouraged to use whichever ones you liked best.

No one gives a fuck whether you prefer your software to be dark or light, any more than they care what color dick you like to have shoved up your ass. Just use whatever gets you off and do your job properly.

It's much more difficult for tribalism to develop when there are millions of possible configurations. With just two, it's inevitable that tribes will arise.

>OG terminals
What do you think is more realistic? Illuminating all the parts of a crt screen that doesn't contain text or just illuminating text on it? Keep in mind you have a shitty display technology and very limited computational power.
Dark mode has always sucked and the only reason original terminals were black was because there was no way to make them actually good.

I have neurological issues that makes light mode essentially impossible for me to use. I wish I could though because yea I'm not a fan of dark mode being worse for my sight especially since I already have eye problems.

Light mode for text.
Dark mode for everything else.
