uhhh AMDbros... I thought hyperscalers needed SMT?https://www.techpowerup.com/329038/amd-custom-makes-cpus-for-azure-88-zen-4-cores-and-hbm3-memory
not with 88 real cores, no. you'll max out the PPT limit in that case, thus available power is better spend on the real cores.
>>103246930>not with 88 real cores, no.So AMD should just nix SMT from all their high core count parts then?
>>103247004the problem i guess is that as amd design is modular it doesnt make sense for them to make the high core count parts without it
>>103246274>88 coresBased.
>>103246274This is for a very niche node where they want maximum HPC throughput. I know you're trying to toe the Intel Aviv line exactly but you missed that Intel has kept SMT in servers.
When are those new GPU even coming? Should I just buy a XT/XTX during blackfriday and forget about it? I'm only looking for 1440p and don't want to wait months for overpriced 5000s and 8000s looted by scalpers
>>103247357They'll be announced in January. But why aren't you waiting for Nvidia?
HEIL AMD
>>103247368way too expensive, and I don't feel like dealing with scalpers for 6 months when I don't have a pc
>>103246274UHH BROS?? Ritual posting is so fucking back?
>>103246274They seem to be running third party software. Per core licensing is a mess with SMT.
>>103247357buy a XTX now, the prices are as good as it gets and the flagship rdna4 is going to be on par or weaker in raster.
>>103248015Yeah I'll either buy XTX or XT depending on the deal I find on blackfriday
>>103246274Smt can actually reduce performance in certain heavy workloads because it causes threads to stall while waiting for the logical cores to finish work. You can actually see it in lightly threaded, time and memory sensitive workloads as well, like photoshop. It can cause hitching with the brush engine
>>103246930>>103247004it literally states they went down this road for specific usages
