How the hell does a self hosted VPN server work? How the fuck does SSH work? I just want to remote into my desktop from my laptop, my phone, and my 'eck and if you don't help me it's not very /g/ood of you.
Nowadays I don't need it but for me it was Nebula Network. You just need a single "lighthouse" node with a static address, the rest can be all dynamic and figure each other out through the lighthouse. IDK if that's the best solution nowadays. Note: Mind the root certificate expiration. You can bypass all that if you can simply set up port forwarding to your desktop and your home IP is static (or you set up some DNS thing).Oh you can also do Yggdrasil Network. That also gives you static addresses.
Not the OP, but I've been thinking of making my own VPN with a Raspberry Pi since my building's internet provider is changing soon.I'm not interested in IP hopping, but I AM interested in encrypting all of my traffic (read: dolphin porn).Have I understood the power of a DIY VPN correctly? Would it hide what I am doing? I don't think you can hide the amount of data traffic of course.
>>103254619if you can't do it without being spoonfed, you can't do it without getting h4xed or experiencing catastrophic data loss as a result of neglecting to keep your data in at least four (4) places, at least one (1) being offsiteDo the needful.
