The absolute state of OLED lmao
>>
>>103289309
oled is for cattle. just like air fryers, it's a good litmus test
>>
Odd my 77" C3 doesn't do this
Odd to use OLED as a desktop monitor choice too
>>
>>103292234
So many new monitors use OLED, with many great reviews. Even if it's a ticking time bomb for when the screen finally shits itself, it's picture quality is a big selling point. I'm holding out for MicroLED though.
>>
>>103289309
my C1 never did this.
>>
my 720p LCD monitor works fine :)
>>
>>103292261
OLED is like beta software, it has cool new features at the cost of bugs
IPS is like stable software, no fancy features but is stable
>>
>>103289309
i wonder what kind of extreme retardation it would take to reconstruct this message that's always displayed by the monitor not the computer?

>>103292415
i've never had any issues with any oled screen. they've been around for years. have you tried not being poor?
>>
>>103289309
neither the screen on my phone or my odyssey g9 oled do this
>>
>>103292234
>Odd my 77" C3 doesn't do this
My 65" C1 does have the option.
It's optional and I never run it.
>>
>OLED for phones is solved and near perfect
>OLED for monitors and tvs is dogshit
why though?
>>
>>103292683
Because your phone screen is only on for a few minutes at a time.
>>
>>103289309
I've been using my OLED screen every day for eight years and almost never turning it off, there were only two occasions in which an image was burned into the screen and i easily repaired it by putting on one of those color flashing yt vids and going outside for a bit.
>>
>>103292261
>Even if it's a ticking time bomb for when the screen finally shits itself
so basically, they are CRTs lol

It works perfectly. I use mine at 400nits HDR true black and never had any issues. Just look up how to properly configure it online and youll have perfect contrast, perfect colors and perfect response times.

People shitting on OLED conveniently fail to mention how LCDs also degrade. I have an old IPS that has color blue limited to like 30% of its original strength. No monitor is free from degradation and if you buy a nice OLED with good cooling then you wont have issues.
>>
>>103289309
OLED has made LCDs drop like a rock in price, yet you felt the need to make this thread.
If you truly cared about durability, then nothing stopping you from buying the LCD you want, sitting back and waiting a year to gloat at people buying OLEDs.

But that is not what this is about is it?
>>
>>103292836
it has made 1440p meme resolution monitors drop in price.
>>
>>103292852
4k too
4k 144hz monitors are a 1/3 of the cost they where a few years ago
If it wasn't for OLEDs the current crop of 4k 240hz miniled monitors would be $1200+
The LCD market has never been more competitive at this moment.
>>
>>103292783
If CRTs had a lifespan 10 times shorter than they actually have yeah I guess. As much as I hate CRTfags at least you can still find 30-40 year old monitors that work. Everyone I know that bought an OLED tv ended up regretting it when they all ended up dying within a year of the warranty expiring and by dying I mean such bad rot and burn in that not even my almost blind grandma could ignore it.
I know someone will start coping with their burn in tests but quite frankly I trust what I saw myself over some literal who almost guaranteed to be bought out youtube cunt.
>>
>>103289309
Wait, is this real? 4 hours? That's less than the runtime of a single LOTR movie. You're telling me I can't even watch a single movie or have a decent gaming session without being interrupted by my monitor? That's crazy.
>>
>>103293099
4K HDR monitors are only IPS right? not TN or VA? and is it possible to get a normal 60hz one since I don't care about high refresh rates?

it should be a fucking crime selling broken hardware like this. it's a fucking scam ripping off people who couldn't wait a few more years for QLED or MircroLED.

TN is dead period unless you can find a second hand monitor that hasn't been abused too much or you want to overpay for a sweaty 500hz esports monitor.

i don't care what some vantablack reddit nigger has to say. some monitors allow you to disable the option, some don't even have the option so if you burn in your screen like an ape then that's your problem.

Tell me this isn't real. The three shitty ass $100 LEDs in front of me manage to sustain three times that. I know OLED is the biggest retard filter in existence right now and has been since it entered the mass market but god fucking damn it that is so far beyond pathetic that I almost feel bad mocking OLED fags.

when is the livestream suicide planned for? imagine thinking for a moment that reddit is a reliable source of information. i can't imagine it. lmao. it's like hiring pedophiles to run a child care center. not much credibility to be had there.

>>
>>103292783
If CRTs lasted 10x less or something, maybe. CRTs did suffer from permanent burn-in but you really had to use them A LOT before it happened. OLED is so fragile it shits itself in half a year, CRTs lasted forever and nobody gave a fuck about utterly retarded shit like using an all-black wallpaper or hiding the taskbar so the screen doesn't self-destruct. You'd just have a screen-saver pop up when the computer was unused, or had it go into power-saving instead. That's it and they worked fine for many years without babysitting.
>>
>>103292768
> few minutes at a time
Plenty of people spend hours watching videos on the phone. OLED is so great that the phone has for many people become their primary device of consumption.
>>
is 27" the smallest 4K monitor? can't I get something smaller? why would you get a bigger screen when you get less PPI?
>>
>>103293137
I bet OLED tvs would last for a decade easy if they were run at the same brightness as a CRT rather than brighter than the sun. My CRT monitor is about as bright as my phone on 5% brightness. OLED is crazy bright at full power, its no wonder it burns quick.
>>
>>103293694
you can get a laptop
>>
>>103293774
no. 4K laptops last 1 hours plus my laptop jest werks
>>
>>103292391

>>
>>103293378
>burn in test where all screen saving opportunities are disabled and it's left on the same channel 24 hours a day seven days a week shows burn in

anon unless you're running a sports bar or a TV company where it's showing your cable channel nonstop and is never turned off this is literally meaningless
>>
>>103293809
I'd take a 720p LCD over 4K with (((smart))) features.
>>
>>103293694
24" monitors will go the way of the dodo soon, like good 32"-43" tvs. consooooooomers want bigger and bigger.

just isolate the traffic, update it once, and then disconnect it from the internet.

google TVs in particular have an option in the setup that's just "basic mode" you get to pick OTA TV and between inputs. that's it. leave it off the internet and for all practical purposes it's a dumb tv.
>>
>>103293866
boiling frog. they will remove these basic mode options in the future. YOU VILL VATCH ZE ADS AND YOU VILL LIKE IT
>>
>>103293860
but why when smaller screens mean more PPI? 4K at 27" is SHARP. 4K at 50" is BLURRY. 4K is good up to 40" past that you need 8K.
>>
>>103293962
I live in chile. people believe there's no more air free TV anymore

the whole turn off of the analog signal signal is seen as some "no more free tv ever, you're forced to buy cable" you have no idea the amount of people stuck on this mentality. a lot of boomers pay cable just to watch 2 or 3 free channels.
>>
>>103289309
OLED is for normalfaggots
Imagine less than 14 hours a day of screentime
>>
>>103292768
lmao no
>>
>>103289309
It's a bit inconvenient at times but you can ignore it if you're in the middle of something. If it prolongs the life of the screen I'm fine with it as the increase in viewing quality over the IPS I had before is night-and-day better in every way.
It makes me get up from the PC for a break and I started doing ~50 pushups every time it runs so I'm getting in about 150 a day for a while now and noticing the difference
>>
>>103293962
what's your point?
let's say google removes basic mode in the future. it's going to be on the equipment that has shipped thus far, unless somebody removes the option.

if you're paranoid that they're going to remove the option in the future on some hardcoded date already in the firmware, then you're buying 2010 or earlier TVs still, or spending 10x as much on a "professional" display with no smart TV. the status quo remains the same.

nothing prevents you from just disabling wifi and not plugging in ethernet to a google TV with basic mode.
>>
>>103289309
>I dont want to buy a computer screen that WILL degrade with normal use and need replaced within a few years
>I dont want to have to completely baby my computer monitor so that it lives an extra year
>every single OLED thread there is a brown skin or LG employee furiously seething and calling people poor because they dont want to waste 500+ dollars every few years on something for no reason
OLED undeniably looks nice but unless you are exclusively using it as a media monitor then theres no fucking point and you might as well just buy an OLED tv. And even then, vidya games have lots of static elements. Im not buying something that forces me to change how i use my computer or will get rekt just from using my internet browser for too long.

>>103292674
TVs run it automatically when they're in standby. Desktop monitors have a more aggressive pixel refresh routine because the risks of burn-in on a PC display are generally much higher.
>>
>>103297640
I don't think I've ever gone over an hour in a day on mine.

>>
>>103292683
Because phone screens use a fraction of the power of larger screens, and it is ultimately the amount of power being pumped through the organic materials that kills OLED pixels.
