OP should probably add the Hyte back in there for the AIO options, at least an enthusiast consideration because you can do this with it. And they're releasing a 360 version in like a month that you'll probably be able to do the same thing to which, if that pans out, would make it the best AIO performance wise on the market by a significant margin. If you don't like the meme screen, I get it, but it's a 240 that with basically zero tinkering outperforms virtually everything and is within margin of error on the things that does better than it all while being a 240.

>>103292462The issue is that Nvidia has a stranglehold on developers due to DLSS. FSR is shit. Intel might be able to do something better than AMD in this area, but I'm skeptical because Intel isn't even particularly big on AI compared to either Intel or AMD. >DLSS is... Le bad! Yup, I get it. >>103292597RX 6800 would be a better dealhttps://bestvaluegpu.com/
>>103292498Not precisely. I was demonstrating that the biggest thing that'll fuck you on your build is single core performance, regardless of what GPU you have. That's why Intel regularly beats AMD in pretty much every category. Unless you're building like a workstation PC for intense rendering and AI shit. And even then... Anyway, my point was that if you buy a lower clock speed CPU with a lot of cores that costs a lot of money, it's going to be worse than that 5 year old Intel CPU that can get to like 5.7Ghz on a single core for gaming. The reason why I (and everyone else) is buying the 9800x3d is because that typical balance has been upset. It's why you're seeing a bunch of videos and articles and reviews all about this single CPU. Historically, it's anomalous.

I already have two helium filled ultrastars, just wondering if the Toshibas are comparable or better. Active noise is audible but rather acceptable, not nerve wrecking like HGST/WD. >>103293812PBO is the built-in auto overclocking feature. It will overclock the chip within a certain limit in amps and watts and will try to reach the highest clocks within those limits. The reason people recommend turning it off is because it will push up the voltages as high as it can as long as the amperage/wattage limit allows. So with PBO you get 4-15% higher clocks, 4-15% higher performance, but the chip now runs at 1.45V (on AM4, not sure about AM5) with 20-30C higher temperatures and using a lot more power. Also the X3D CPUs used to have a limit in voltages but I think that was due to stacking the extra cache on top of the chiplet, blocking it from dissipating heat. The 9800X3D instead stacks the chiplet on top of the cache, so the chiplet is in contact with the IHS and can be cooled properly. Maybe that could be another reason why PBO is not recommended on those? I mean I just don't recommend it because it makes heat requirements absurd for 10% performance, you could reach the same clocks on all cores with manual overclocking at lower voltages too.
I got recommended this a few weeks agohttps://pcpartpicker.com/list/83g2QPbut saw that this alienware with a 4090 was only a bit more expensive on sale. Is alienware still shit or was that a meme? Should I just get this discounted one, or wait for the parts list to be cheaper during black friday and build it myself, since performance wise, I probably don't need the better stats the alienware provides unless I want to play star citizen, which desu, is something I want to do, but could probably get by with something else and its still not even really playable right now.https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/desktop-computers/alienware-aurora-r16-gaming-desktop/spd/alienware-aurora-r16-desktop/useahbtsr16ihbzg

>>103295647gen is the version of the port, and x4/x8/x16 is the physical amount of connections.A gen3 x16 card in a gen4 x4 port would only have x4 lanes physically connected, it could not go x8 or whatever because the physical wiring does not exists (the up side is that you can put a x16 card in a x1 slot too, and it will work, at x1 speeds - it is how bitcoin miners connected 16 cards to one motherboard). And if the card is gen 3 then it can only connect on the port at gen 3 because it does not understand anything newer.
>>103295790To be fair if the card is just functioning as a display adapter PCIe3x4 is plenty. Indeed it might even be fine for some gaming - given its performance you wouldn't be playing intensive games anyway.
>>103295695He could have the cpu pointing upwards and the gpu expel air not on its sides (rising towards the gpu) but on its back (in which case the intake fans on the front would actually blow hot air on the cpu). You can do all sorts of wacky shit like that if you don't go for the same type of basic rgb rig cases that every company sells. Look at pic related for example, perfect for bottom to top airflow, if you rotate the cooler by 90 degrees so it blows upwards, it works even better.
>>103295695Oh yeah I meant rear exhaust, 3 intake front, 1 exhaust rear, 3 empty top, should all top be exhaust or should 1 be exhaust and rest intake/empty
>>103295598> Why is 27in the standard for 1440pBecause of pixel density. Everything on the screen gets smaller with it. Many older programs don't adapt, some to the point they get unreadable/unusable. To make up for this, at least somewhat, displays have to get larger. I have a 32" 4k display and whenever I use my 27" 1440p it feels like the old times of 24" office display again. If you have a large desk like I do you tend to put your display farther away to use the desk in front of it for more than just a keyboard, like books or a tablet with breakfast... In this case a larger display, even 32", does not feel comically large. Now imagine also leaning back in your gaymore chair...

>>103295869>Everything on the screen gets smaller with it.That's why operating systems let you change the scale of those things. You keep the clarity of the high pixel density for your images and video, but you don't need to squint to see your software's text. My viewing distance is around 18-20 inches, so 25in is still pushing the upper limits. The issue is that there's no variety in these panels. Outside of older monitors or specialty monitors, a resolution is stuck with a single size for 95% of its options. It sucks. I was mad enough losing 16:10, and now I can't even get a 16:9 at a suitable size.
>>103295942Because then you can put in extra add-on cards of any size. You only need x1 for the card to work, the rest is just extra bandwidth. And sometimes you simply don't need the extra bandwidth, but the card slots physical size would otherwise prevent you from using the slot.Example use case is a 10GbE dual port network card, using PCIE gen 2 x8. If you only use a single network port, then 4 PCIE lanes are more than enough. But if the slot is physically x4 only, then you can't plug it, it wouldn't fit.also someone tested modern videocards for how much low lane count would bottleneck them, and I forgot the exact numbers, but it was something like 10% perf drop for running a pcie gen 4 x16 card in a pcie gen 3 x4 slot.

Hell, many monitors have USB hubs built in. I don't think latency would be an issue. Also note, when I tried my gamepad with the bluetooth dongle in the monitors USB hub, I actually got less latency, but only because the bluetooth adapter now had a clear line of sight to the controller, instead of getting blocked by the table/chair.

There are a few programs I use that don't get scaled, but it's not so horrible that it's unusable. People that use software that isn't affected by scale can't be much of the market. Ultimately, it should be an option, but unfortunately it's all homogenized. My current monitor is 25in and 117DPI. A 24in 1080 is 91DPI, where pixelation is evident. A 27in 1440 is 108DPI, where the screen becomes a chore to view. There's very few options when it comes to high DPI, reasonably sized screens. Even moreso if you want a high refresh rate.

>>103296424Top fans are necessary because you want to get at least as much air out as you take in, right? The air from the two or three front fans moves diagonally up and to the rear, transporting heat from the motherboard and the GPU. Just one rear fan, working against the resistance of the stupid grill that nowadays covers it in most cases and can't be removed w/o dremel work, can't get all the air out fast enough. You need more fans in the rear top to prevent stalling airflow.
>>103294494I tried this, but the distance is awkward for my cables. You either get too much distance and slack, or there's no slack and it just barely doesn't connect. By routing the cables under, it connects like that, although maybe I should fug with it some more and see
>>103294706Yeah I knew that, but if I got the modern top of the line it would be bottlenecked by the low bandwidth on the bus, right? So what I'm trying to figure out is what specs/card is needed in order to make the bus bandwidth the limiting factor>>103296331rocket science>>103296461>deishitpronounced deeuhshit or dayshit?

Week 4 of waiting for shit from AliExpress
Truth be told, I've been out of the game for a very long time. I haven't really built a PC since 2011. I really want to build a good Skyrim machine that can run a lot of mods. I know that it can be run on anything but my understanding is a highly modded game will require a really good CPU and a lot of RAM over a really good GPU. Thanks frens.
Looking to get an SSD for storage, don't really care too much about speeds. Just care about reliability and space. Anything else I should consider over the Crucial BX500? Not gonna be used as a boot drive, for gaming or any apps. Currently about 200 for 4TB.
>>103296455I ordered up to €50 from aliexpress without problems. There are different limits for different product groups. Electronics, bikes, clothes etc. And the German Zoll (customs) is merciless. If I ever wanted something worth over €50 I would look up the specific regulation.
>>103296505>>103296526yea a decent SFX psu still goes around the $200 range here. Never really thought about a low profile cooler, that's interesting tho >>103296591right, getting one asap. thx anon
okay, dumb question.Would it be possible to link aggregate 4x 2.5GbE ports, connect them into a 8x 10GbE RJ45 switch, and then use a single 10GbE RJ45 going into my desktop PCs 10GbE port?Or does link aggregation needs to be point to point, ie. I'd need a 4x 2.5GbE port on the desktop too?
>>103296455That depends where you live. In France under 150 euros you won't get extra taxes. Check if the vendor includes tax or not

Anyone have experience with the h6 flow?only downside i see is that the only shit you can use for fans are the NZXT ones

Also read some horror stories of them randomly dying. >You also can't fit a PCIe card with more NVMe slotsI probably can but I'm on a budget so I was just trying to get a simple sata. Was looking at the SN580 since it was considered a budget nvme but I see it only goes up to 2 tb. If it went up to 4, I would probably consider getting an extra slot for it unless there's another budget model I should look at.
>>103296845SSDs can also die randomly. They also have inherently finite capacities and may lose data if unpowered for several years. Each tech has its own advantages and disadvantages. If you buy a decent HDD (preferably the NAS or Enterprise tier ones), they will most likely outlast your gaming rig. Just stresstest them when they arrive, so if they have any initial faults, you can kill them before they have your precious data on them.

>>103296845>I can but I'm a little scared about accidentally bumping into it and messing it upive carried hdds in my pocket in cross country tips before. theyre generally fine as long as youre not abusing them while theyre on/in the read/write cycle. kinetic drive failure is rare and takes a lot, evidenced by laptops using them for years and generally being fine.>Also read some horror stories of them randomly dyingas >>103296892 said, all storage mediums can fail. thats why you have multiple backups on different physical devices in different physical locations. i have a handful of drives (including ATA) that are pushing 15 years old and they read fine so long as you store them fine. the biggest contributors to drive failure are thermal cycling, physical shocks, and sustained operation. my current hdd is at 7 years 219 days of power-on time and its fine, though its definitely as slow as an hdd from that time. ,just dont abuse them phsyically and have parity with backups/RAID and theyr enot a big concern.
>>103296148why not use the ports you probably already have
I didn't buy extra fans for my case (i think it has one exhaust fan in the case). Is it a bad idea to turn it on? My cpu has a cooler with fan as well
>>103297569if you turn it on youre going to die
>>103297636seriously tho, how many extra fans should I put in there?
>>103297684depends on the case and what your goal is, but generally you want positive pressure inside a case with filters before intakes to minimize dust collection and maximize thermal transfer. higher CFM intake that flows over the gpu and cpu coolers is ideal.
>>103297704>you want positive pressure inside a case with filtersI don't know what this really means desu. but i take it that it's not a mandatory thing The case is micro atx mini tower. deepcool ch370
>>103297838positive internal pressure with intake filters means that more air is entering the case from behind a filter than is leaving the case from places without a filter. consider there are three intake fans at 50cfm each that are all filtered (like for example the front panel of a case), and two exhaust fans at 50cfm each in unfiltered positions anywhere else in the case. there is a surplus of intake air, meaning that any points in the case which are not air-tight will have air exhausting from them, helping to prevent dust from entering the case and accumulating on cooling apparatus. additionally, there will be a surplus of ambient temperature air entering the case, preventing hot air from your coolers stagnating and raiding internal ambient temperatures, limiting air cooling capabilities.
>>103297684>>103297569you should at least have 4-5, 2-3 as intake and 2 exhaust for best performance but you can get away with 3, 2 intake in front and 1 exhaust in rear
