How bad is the b650e Steel Legend? Someone was saying before it was worse than the b650 Steel Legend but I can actually find this one locally. Can also find the b650e Taichi locally but I don't know if I need to spend $270 on a mobo
>>103296934For me it's 5080 and 9800x3d. I bought a 4k oled monitor though in anticipation.
so eventually FSR4 is going to be available for 7000 series GPUs as well right? the hardware is already ready and they're waiting for 8000 series before releasing it so it can be available to both 7000 and 8000 series without making people with older GPUs feel too bad if they released it now to 7000 only instead of 6000? Is that how it works?
>>103296860Too small

>>103296823Placed an order at a local place for a 4070 Super. Apparently they're out of stock but I was offered a 4070TI for the price of a Super. Is this a good deal?
>>103296990I was looking at the A3 and AP201 review vids and there's barely any difference between having the mesh panel vs glass panel since the airflow is mostly from bottom intake to top exhaust anywaysFor ITX cases it's a different story, glass panel vs mesh panel on NR200 is a big difference thermally. I'm guessing since there's no extra space horizontally for air to flow through more freely so it's relying more on the mesh

>>103297348yea it's been a good deal for most of its life considering how much 360hz monitors used to cost.>>103297361It is technically cheaper to make so it should be cheaper, and it has had a glut of oversupply due to a shit launch.
>>103297316yeah, I kinda understand not getting OLED years ago when it was $1500-$2000+ but I think it's reasonable now and paying a $500 premium to get it sooner now is basically how I see itsure it might be <$500 in a year or so when it becomes more widespread but that's a whole year, possibly longer, that im sticking with LCD

>>103294087Steel Legend, Pro RS sucks.
>>103297417just check reviews for thermals, pic related for AP201 + A3. For the A3 there's barely any difference between the tempered glass vs mesh panelalso interesting note, bottom fans are useless sometimes, particularly for smaller cases when the GPU is already so close to the bottom mesh
>>103297378B650e riptide is way more expensive than the steel legend. I can always try to get the steel legend on a sale. By sale I mean sometimes it goes to its normal price. For reference, current prices are 187 euros for the tomahawk, 230 for the steel legend (sometimes 200 on a very good sale), and 260 for the riptide. I really liked the Taichi lite looks but it costs 300 and that would just be silly lol Another question, should I wait for the next gen or is getting a gpu on black friday good enough?
>>103297417Usually due to crappier thermals, but if you're buying one just make sure to have good cooling for your parts. Usually you want an aio and at least 2 140s feeding the GPU from the bottom.

Looking for 1440p 27" VA displays, preferably not curved, what are anons' thoughts on the Samsung Odyssey G51C? I don't play many fast paced games, I care more about contrast ratio and good picture quality. OLED is out of my budget.
>>103297207I'm on 32" 4k since 2017. Acer Predator. It's the perfect size, aspect ratio and resolution. I will forever stay with it, only a higher refresh version is about to come on my desk.
>>103297359Yeah I can't find any reason. PCIE 5 doesn't seem it will be relevant this decade, and a few more lanes I won't use and slightly better I/O aren't worth spending 2-3x. There seems to be less distinction between chipsets than the last time I built.
>>103297417I did a 1080p build for a friend in an Okinos Aqua 7 fish tank. It's fine. AMD 5600x, GTX 1080. It comes with 6 fans and the thermals were great. Neither CPU or GPU exceeded 70° in stress tests and usually ran a lot cooler.
MSI MAG 321UP is literally the perfect 32-inch 4K OLED monitor right now for me165hz is enough I don't fucking need 240hz I don't think I'd ever reach 240 fps on most games I play even with my 4090 and I don't ever need a KVM switchWish there were more 165hz options at 4k 32-inch QD-OLED. heck even a 144hz would be fine... I hate this higher refresh rate meme upsell.
>>103297230That looks like a prison cell. I would get depressive there. I always need a large window behind my display so my eyes can "touch grass" once in a while.
>>103297512I started with a 21" 4K iMac that was 4096x2160 (4K DCI) in late 2015 and is now up to 32" UHD QD-OLED, so a good bit less sharp, but much higher quality. I would like hi-refresh 6K or 8K to be an option. I would still play at 4K though.
>>103297463i bought pic related for my 7700X, i presume the 9800X3D is prob similar heat (basically not really hot)imo if it doesnt need a huge tower cooler dont bother, those things will annoyingly sag a bit, ive done it before on midrange CPUs that arent hot in the first place and it's really unnecessary since the bulk imeding the airflow can affect GPU temps too which is usually the hotter one to deal with for gaming builds lopsided towards GPU

>>103297579I've been thinking it for a while really. Now it's at $700 in amazon now, I really wish there were more options for 165hz range. >Hard to find decent reviews on this model compared to othersBecause it's newer than the 240hz models I think. Very tempting right now I don't really need 240hz on 4k monitors. Though I wonder the difference between 240hz and 165hz, how much does that really cost the manufacturer. I don't really understand how monitor manufacturing works... in CPUs I understand yields and binning.

>>103297533pretty much this, guess I'll stick with the Tomahawk if I don't find the Steel Legend on a sale
yes you're right i see that now, 321UP is the same generation 3 as all the new panels this year, so all it's just 165hz vs 240/340hz the other models haveI'll get 240/340 whatever the fk later on after 5 years when i gotta replace this. I'll still wait for Black Friday though just in case
>>103297662>>103297533The Tomahawk is a good board. If your place has a long return policy due to holiday you could just grab that and switch if the Steel Legend goes on a sale. But honestly, you'll be happy either way I think.

>>103297605I still don't understand what a thermal cycle is. Like, is there a specific temp you need to raise your CPU/GPU to and then bring it down to ambient or/shut off your computer to let it cool again? >>103297539Ordered it yesterday. Not even a 4090 can hit above 165 fps at 4k so no point buying something more expensive. All the qd-oled panels are the same.
>>103297802when is it arriving for you?
>>103297802That's just pure buillshit, I did the math before 4090 came out and knew it would be able to hit 4K 165 in my competitive games, Hunt Shodown primarily, and it did. I had the Neo G7 4K 165. Then I got QD-OLED 240HZ and 9800X3D and the 4090 is hitting 240hz in that too. 170hz in RDR2, all 4K, so eat shit, you don't know because you haven't tried it and shouldn't be providing any advice on the matter. >>103297920Got it. Looking at picking up either a 4070 Super or 4070 ti Super. I could buy at current prices but that seems like a mistake when 5000 is so soon

So my 4080S has a pigtail with it with 3x PCIe connections but the HX1000i only came with 2 PCIe cables, is that enough for now without causing issues?
Any good deals on ddr4 RAM right now? Looking for 2x16 GB
>>103297936Big enough to have a desk and double bed but not much else to be fair, but the window is big (fortunately north facing so no direct sunlight)the central heating is still running but my room would be like 16 celsius while the rest of the house is 20 celsiusyes a 600w space heater would absolutely help make it more comfortable so i dont have to wear a sweater inside my room

>>103297782why are these people so sociopathiclike people actually want to click "play game" and not have to think about buying a 2k € gpu when they first move the camera ingame
>>103297973Just sort by price on PC Part Picker and Google Shopping. It's pretty rare for something to be missing from both of those. And RAM modules are all made by the same 3 companies so it's one of the parts that you can cheap out on as long as it seems to have good ratings.
>>103297980>16 celsius That's comfy tier unless you're a woman and start freezing when it's under 30 celsius
>>103297782Wrong on all accounts. Consider seeing an optometrist.
>>103297987Perhaps, but then the problem is trying to find the best one>>103297999As far as I know the all manufacturer and model does matter, the problem is reliably telling what a given ram uses, it seems most models end up using different die for the same sku
>>10329798060 is pretty comfy, desu. And I say this as so someone who lives in the South. Just throw on a long sleeve shirt, some sweatpants, and socks. Here is my current computer:>Intel i9 10900f>RTX 3070>Asus TUF Z490-Plus Motherboard>32gb RAMI'm thinking of getting perhaps a 5080 whenever it launches. My question is,>Will I want to update my CPU?>If I do, will I need to get a new motherboard and basically build an entire new computer?>Should I consider doing that anyway even if it's not strictly necessary?
oled yes/no?

Thoughts on this for my first OLED? It's going to be for a 9800x3d and 5080/90 build.
I need a board ASAP, is this ok for 100 eurobucks?
>>103298018Sixteen! And not sweet little but Celsius! This is uncomfy af. The minimum acceptable is 19°C with dry air. And I currently live in South Portugal.
>>103298104It's not bad, it's probably functionally similar to the Tomahawk.
>>103298073Even that isn't safe. I remember getting a PS3 and noticed it had a built-in web browser. Where there is a will, there is a wank.
are oled monitors actually good now? or is it better to wait 5 more years
>>103298073It's for> click "play game" and not have to think about buying a 2k € gpu when they first move the camera ingamethat is
>>103298115Yeah, and I live in fuckin' Florida where this is approximately two months out of every year where you can go outside and not be hit with at least 80-90 degree weather (often higher) and 80-100% humidity with fuckin' wet bulb warnings all the time.
>>103298115I feel bad for you. you'll never know how comfy it is to sit next to a radiator when outside is -20 C
>>103298102I ended up going with a PG32UCDM, yours was second or third place basically just because it doesn't have Dolby Vision. If that's not meaningful to you, then this one should be about as good as monitors get right now, and it's a couple hundred cheaper than the others in its bracket on sale.
>>103298123>a PS3 and noticed it had a built-in web browser.Great! I have to check my son's console now. Thank you.
Which aio?For cpu, mounted on top, set of 3 120 fans in exhaust/push?Arctic Freezer III 360, non-rgbLian Li GA II 360 Performance
>>103298129You still have to wait® for OLED panels with true RGB subpixel layout, there are other improvements like more monitors supporting DisplayPort 2.1 in the future.https://tftcentral.co.uk/news/oled-news-and-rumours-round-up-for-2025The prices of existing OLED monitors have dropped enough for more people like me to buy into it.About 2~3 years ago you had to pay $500 for a relatively high-end 27" 1440P IPS monitor with backlight bleeding and shitty contrasts. You still have to pay around that much, or more, for a high-end 360Hz IPS monitor.
>>103298152I know it just too well because I lived in Germany for 50 years and I go there every now and then to see my relatives, do business etc. It's terrible and makes be sick, depressive, weary of life.
why does everyone get black cases instead of white? the whites cases are even cheaper?I have a black gpu, which will go better?
>>103298163> Arctic Freezer III 360, non-rgbPerfect choice!
Can a bad CPU damage a motherboard? I know it's possible the other way around.
>>103298191> You still have to wait® for OLED panels with true RGB subpixel layoutUntil CES 2025?
>>103298154>>103298102So I misread and I was referring to the MSI MPG 321URX, which is about $80 more than the model you are looking at.It's hard to find the difference between these online, but based on reviews the MAG does not receive firmware update support, but the MPG does.
>>103298228No, the planned production is Q4 '25.You could be waiting until '26 for those.
>>103298123I did the same on the fucking DSi web browser
Reposting from last threadWhat's the cheapest graphics card that will max out a pcie 1.1x16 bus?
>>103298206white objects display dust, grime, and smudges more readily. also, getting a decent black pigment is a bit more difficult than white because white is typically just titanium dioxide and a binder, whereas blacks can be more complex. there is also the aesthetic premium.
So looking for a 2k monitor that isn't 27", maybe 22". I'd like HDR that's at least serviceable (so no hdr400), 144hz (or more), if not oled then at least have an OK amount of dimming zones. Don't care about Dolby vision, or speakers, or rgb. Does such a thing exist or is it a unicorn?
>>103298206Parts are generally cheaper in black so you don't have clashing colors if you have a black case. And personally I just like darker colors more. Ordered a black North XL for my new build.
Are Asus and MSI AM5 boards serviceable or have they gone to shit? I hear a lot of complaints.
>>103294624>>103295189>>103295261did you get the one with the glass sidepanel or no glass?are glass sidepanels "louder"?
>Corsair PSU didn't come with enough cables to power GPU >Noc fans cable lengths are so short they don't connect to anything and need extensions >Had to order extra cables for both Annoying as shit desu
>>103298274They're all pretty similar but ASRock boards generally offer more value for money. Most people don't even know ASRock is basically ASUS' corporate bitch.ASUS deliberately sets a premium for their ROG boards and they're fine with more price-conscious buyers getting ASRock instead, as long as it means fewer Gigabyte, MSI, or other boards being sold. Two idiots fucked up installing their 9800X3D in an MSI X870 Tomahawk motherboard, but nothing has come out of it.
>>103298204>she lets seasons affect her mental health no, you don't. winter and autumn are comfiest seasons.
How diminishing are the returns on a motherboard past $100-$150? Are there any concerns for a motherboard besides "you can plug your parts into it"?
where are the 4k 27 monitors
>>103298274MSI is fine. ASUS is questionable. Basically any mobo you look up you're going to find some bad reviews due to shitty manufacturing or user error. If you see a lot of bad reviews of the exact same issue though, stay the fuck away from that board.
>>103298346As long as the board has adequate VRM for your current and future CPU(s), it boils down to the number of storage & I/O port, network speed differences (2.5/5/10Gbit), and some differences in trace layout if you're interested in manually tuning the system memory.
>>103298348Can't attest to this personally but what people say is that 27" isn't big enough to appreciate 4k pixels.
>>103298348I heard they might be coming in 2025, but basically it's on the way.
>>103298206Racist here i ordered a black and white set of two cases and valkyrie matching aio

>>103298261Likely doesn't exist. 27" is where all the features are.
>>103297916I have the opposite problem own my own house and the only second story room is a new apartment with no ventilation in the roof predictability in aussie summer i cook up there so getting a whirly bird
>>103297936It seriously can help as additional heating plus to a radiator obviously, all the heat is thrown out of the case if ariflow is decent, so even at 300w it's noticeably warmer. My room is 18m2 and it gets to -30C here at night.
Are there any considerations I need to make about a motherboard with expecting it to be ready for a 5000-series? Basically I'm buying the other parts here on black friday and assembling them when I get an RTX 5000
>>103298233>but based on reviews the MAG does not receive firmware update support, but the MPG does.Used to be that but MAG models receive firmware updates now
>>103298477not really mobo is more important to CPU
>>103298491Old version MAGs do it through DP, E2 240hz version supports it properly.
>>1032983482025 actually so next year's blacked friday...
>$200 X670 motherboard>No displayport portWhat?
what;s the closest to phantom spirit/peerless assassin? ak620? darkrock elite?
>>103298294I have the case without glass but I don't think that glass is louder as it doesn't tend to resonate with any vibrations of a case. It's just susceptible to breaking while the steel panel is near indestructible. I had acryl and glass panels before with other cases and at some point windows no longer fascinated me and I preferred the best possible function and practicality, easier handling, cheaper price. Opening and closing a side panel just to take a look into the case is so easy with the Silent Base 902 that I never missed the window.
We all agree that that picture which purports to show 8 water-cooled 5090's is just bullshit, right? As in those are definitely 4090's that they are disguising because of the water blocks making it impossible to tell. Not to mention the situation sounds extremely sketchy.
>>103298344Perhaps in beautiful landscapes but not in the Northern German Lowlands. I'm not a she by the way.

>>103298383This is correct. And 32" allows more distance to the screen. With my 27" I always feel the need to creep into it.
>>103298580those are blackwell datacenter chips. they need watercooling because they use next gen hbm which runs way hotter than gddr (what consumers use)
Considering VRR exists, should I be particularly concerned about the 1% numbers in these charts?
>>103298695Do you regularly play older games at 1080p/medium with a 4090?
>>103297463You're doing something wrong if your 9800x3d is running hot with a peerless assassin. I built my new computer last wednesday (9800x3d with a peerless assassin) and ran cinebench on my cpu for 20 minutes and it never got above 65c
>>103298721IDK why he's benchmarking at 1080p, the Cyberpunk spread doesn't look too different from this and it's 1080p, I don't really watch any of these tech youtubers I come out every five years and try to figure out how to build a new computer. I want to get a 5080 which would perhaps at least come close to 4090 power.Regardless of what resolution is being benchmarked, I'm still curious how seriously I should weigh the 1% and 0.1% levels.

>>103298759I mean... why not? I'm getting a 4k 240hz monitor and want to try to push it to get to those upper framerates if I can, even if I play some things in 1440p or something.
