Does 4chan re-encode files that are posted?
>>
Yes, but, it only scrub the metadata because retards kept getting doxxing themselves with photo coordinates embeded in them.
The only thing that would be encoded would be the thumbnail.
>>
>>103542596
You mean EXIF data. Some metadata is retained
>>
>>103542596
Thought so. What's the outlook for media file transmitted malware?
>>
>>103542596
do phones even do this by default nowadays?
>>
>>103542601
Yes, that.
But the raw bytes of the image aren't encoded.
>>103542609
If you can embed within the image data it works but you would need stupid enough users to change the image filename and to run that.
Embedded outside the image data gets scrapped.

Yes.
Here's how you can check.
1. run a shasum on an image. Here's the shasum for the image I uploaded: c87db4a9cb1c79ace51153bb210bfdd660815f48
2. upload that image.
3. 4chan fucks with the image
4. open the posted image in a new tab
5. download new image
6. shasum of new image is different
7. modify url by adding something ("?foo=bar") to end of URL
8. download that image and shasum it. This image has same shasum as original.

Those were fun times, also the times were you could change filenames to .zip and embed shit inside images
>>
>>103542708
shame that such freedom emboldens fucked up people who like to watch snuff and cp

how do we fix this issue?

btw who really runs 4chan?
>>
>>103542722
cp never leave if you know what to look for
it will never be fixed as it served for actual malware delivery
hiroshimoot runs the show, who is owned by some toy company
>>
>>103542743
>if you know what to look for
why the fuck would someone "look for it"
fucking why? literally just digging and digging just to find it? why?

all those fucking clearnet sites that probably exist with hidden cookie toggles or some shit like that that turns it into some horrible shit

unironically the third world is to blame for a lot of this but of course the clientele is you know, probably not third worlders. but they use third worlders as weapons and tools to get what they want.

fucking why
>>
how can we blow up this planet?
>>
>>103542743
>hiroshimoot runs the show
i think its pretty evident that he doesn't
>>
it's pretty telling that the occasional mod having fun thing stopped happening, you know with catalogs and all.
>>
there's no fucking soul in this site if you unironically have to be like "oh great it's a fucking mossad gangstalking agent"

this site is fucking ruined.
>>
i think this is a fundamental fucking issue with the modern internet in its current state right now.

fucking cookie and ad server farming, an inescapable network of tracker bullshit and garbage.

and guess what it all amounts to?

petty bureaucratic shills and agents and faggot gangstalkers who get their kicks from the stupid shit they do.

stalkers and thirdworlders getting access to people's private info

this shit needs to be nuked.

internet is now serious business and i fucking hate it.
>>
unfortunately gangstalking is real
>>
/xivg/ is really my favourite place on this site even if i'm hated there, and even if it's mostly bots

but god damnit if this site really is just a fucking lame ass NSA honeypot cloudflare shill farm emotional engagement farm that solely exists to track trends and behaviour then FUCK it's just fucking SAD. especially if they unironically leak shit to fucking mossad.

fuck this shit.
>>
Don't get me wrong. I get that the world is a complicated place, complex. Beautiful in its own way. It is beautiful. But there's a lot of shit out there.

I get the need that a lot of people need to be monitored so they don't go and do some really fucking stupid shit. Awful shit.

But it's just sad.
>>
For the record I don't think it's Iran sending drones over the east coast.

But I don't quite think it's aliens either.
>>
Yeah my Canada mental breakdown was genuine. This whole Canada thing was genuine.

And retarded too, sure, maybe? Well, no, I don't think it's retarded.

I think Canadian management has been retarded though.
>>
I'd much rather believe 4chan is a japanese reality show and that it's an off-shoot of Final Fantasy XIV. Or that Final Fantasy XIV is an offshoot of 4chan. Whatever, idk.

I just wanna have fun. I don't want to deal with all this depressing shit.
>>
The tranny shit is forced and inorganic.
>>
But yeah, AI is a fucking blight. And no, it's not even AI.

LLM bullshit is uhhh..... well let's just say it's way too fucking convenient to fake imageboards with them.
>>
Look, even if you won't take me to the NSA headquarters, I know what's up. It's obvious.
>>
I guess it's too late for me to have that peaceful quiet life in Canada that I wanted, with my friends. Well, they're all gone anyway and other than my one irl friend they were of question anyway. That's just how it is with purely online relationship. The turkish guy was also highly suspect with constant odd signals but unfortunately in my post-psych ward haze and being young I got sucked into interacting with him.
>>
Being so lonely and isolated here, what else did I have other than this site, eh?

Sucks not knowing who's my friend and who's my enemy. Who's to be trusted. Who's out to get me.

But I definitely don't trust the jews.
>>
As a kid and teen I really dreamt of being a rockstar or something like that. Definitely a rockstar, cool shit.

But then I developed severe gender dysphoria and that's that. All thanks to 4chan of course.

I mean, it's clear I had some weird borderline intersex thing going on at the start of puberty and etc.

Obviously being a public figure is definitely out of the question now. For the best, probably, maybe. I don't know.

But yeah.

I don't know what this shit is.

I really don't

I have no fucking clue.

Not the faintest fucking inkling of an idea what all this shit is.
>>
Schizophrenia isn't real btw. It's literally just a highly intelligent mind under constant mixed signaling and familial trauma and stuff like that. Double bind.
>>
Oh I definitely don't trust the friendly glowies either.
>>
But obviously there's something wrong when I am literally never acknowledged in any way. Or alternatively just get insulted and denied constantly or deflected in some way.
>>
For all I know, the man in the OP picture could very well be my fucking dad!
>>
What can I do?

You people always want the top minds. And I am a top mind. Obviously no matter what I would have done I would have given off the signals anyway.
>>
Really hunting for some goodwill here, eh?
>>
Oh well, Finnish internet is the most secure in the world, in both directions.

So, doesn't really matter what I do here.
>>
I love Finland, shame that it's a depressing socialistic commieblock bureaucratic institution hell with planted forests and swamped hypermuddy lakes.

>>103542708
You can still embed things inside images. Here's an obvious but easy to extract one. Extract it with
ffmpeg -i "image.png" -pix_fmt rgb24 -f rawvideo sukumi.zip

It's a small old doujin game. Main music is missing as it wouldn't fit into the image otherwise.
>>
>>103543398
man i am not opening any images on this site anymore, not this one either.
>>
>>103542584
No, it just removes metadata so some dumbass doesn't dox himself.
>>
>>103542708
Newfags and nufags will never understand sinks.
>>
>>103543398
i googled that. i got some youtube video of the gameplay. the comments were weird. there's some fucked up lore behind this, isn't there?
>>
>>103543449
Not that I know of, beyond just being a game featuring little girls in swimsuits. (It's really fun, too.) I probably got it from some /jp/ Comiket thread ages ago.

>>103543409
Just opening them doesn't do anything, actual on-load vulnerabilities are extremely rare. And if you're concerned about embedding, there are embeds that are entirely indistinguishable from images without embeds so you're fucked either way. There is no way to tell. This image, for example, contains the same game as in >>103543398 minus the audio, d3dx8bor.dll and Vox.dll (size limitations). Extracting it would be significantly more complicated than >>103543398 though, requiring a) the tool (RelativeEmbed), b) the reference image (see hash in filename) and possibly c) the encryption key (but I left it on the default one). The best part is that now that this image exists, it could be argued the original version is retroactively an embed, as you can use this file as reference image to extract data from it. Every image, everywhere, is an embed containing everything under a certain size.
>>
>>103543793
interesting
>>
>>103542617
>3. 4chan fucks with the image

I assume it encodes some sort of watermark that has the date and time it was posted and maybe the IP of the poster. The filename is changed to a number that encodes the time and date the image was posted in the first 10 digits (date --date='@1734390162') but of course the filename can be changed so the same info might be encoded in a watermark added to the picture.
>>
I've seen a guy post a jpeg that somehow got recompressed into like a 4gb image
I don't think he bypassed upload size so I think jpegs get recompressed somehow
>>
>>103544158
We experimented with it in an earlier thread (I think a couple months ago?). 4chan just losslessly re-encodes images to save space. If you post an image that's compressed well enough it doesn't change anything. Someone in that thread back then verified the exact tool they use for recompression but I don't recall which one it was.
>>
they losslessly optimize jpegs through cloudflare
everything else is untouched (apart from metadata)
that's it.
>>
if you don't run every file you download through at LEAST 50 random codecs you don't deserve internet access.

holy fucking shit, all the useless spam from above. Is that chat gpt or lama or something?
