AMD apparently only internally benched the 9000 series with Linux before launch which led to the whole Zen 5% fiasco.
https://www.techspot.com/review/2906-amd-zen-5-performance-retest/
https://old.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/1f3ylpq/zen_5_tested_with_windows_update_kb5041587_for/
The chips perfomed better on Win10 and of course Linux which is why there was so much Phoronix Benches Cope posted during the launch. Personally I don't think Windows is actually any worse than it always was, it's just both Intel & AMD's Rube Goldberg-ass way of the designing their dies to maximize yields has made them harder and harder for the OS to actually make sense of and extract performance from for everyday usage.
>>
>>103580076
Intel needs to start looking at its desktop CPUs as advertisements for data centre . Good desktop CPUs that are not for example gimped needlessly by removing avx512 and actually work with OS's people use will produce more Intel fanboys out of nerds. If these nerds get into positions of purchasing power in enterprises it could sway market share where Intel actually cares about .
Intel fanboys are getting rare in the younger generation and this will comeback to haunt Intel
>>
>>103580081
Probably just that in conjunction with the more accurate BIOS reporting of the pump RPM it's able to back off the motor load faster to respond to thermals/noise. Since that could probably have been have software fix, I'm 88% sure the only hardware change was the inclusion of the slightly longer screws.

the Lian Li A3 is great, somehow my XFX 7900XTX is running at max 63C on 100% load in 3DMark, basically only a few degrees hotter than seen in an XFX 7900XTX in an ATX case

Nobthey don't, Intel is a monopoly in the oem/datacenter market just like nvidia. It's taken years of them being shit for AMD to barely scrape a miserable 10% of the market away from them, and they still have 80% of the market led by boomers who grew up with the "no one got fired for buying Intel" mantra. All Intel needs to do is release something for the professional market and it will sell just like nvidia GPUs do.

You'll want to spend the extra £16 for a 6000CL30 kit instead of that CL36 kit as that's the sweetspot for perf.
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/4cCCmG/patriot-viper-venom-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr5-6000-cl30-memory-pvv532g600c30k
Technically you might be able to dial in the tighter timings but goign from CL36 to CL30 will be a gamble and possibly a tough ask for the memory controller compared to tuning CL32/34.

Also if you are on a tight budget the 12600K/KF matches the performance of the 7600/X for a bit less and lets you run cheaper DDR4 RAM like this:

I get that the 50% over reported speed is because they used a motor with a 3 pulse per rotation encoder instaed of the standard 2, but the emails seem to imply that something about the motor or pump physically changed as well. But would that be power draw (irrelevant), flow rate, or noise?
>Another improvements are the efficiency of the pump and the correct RPM feedback of the pump
https://old.reddit.com/r/arcticcooling/comments/1fbjb8d/liquid_freezer_iii_360_rev_2_in_the_wild/
Longer screws were an earlier change made to rev1. This one does have 4 threads coming out at rest instead of 2 like in reviews.

Plugged in: at full speed, the pump is almost silent when held by the tubes, but resting/pressed against a hard surface it hums and becomes louder than the fans. It's the same type of hum as this and the other videos so I am kind of concerned now.

That's a deceptive downgrade of the better HDV/M.2 board. It seems to have a 160W power limit.

You don't really need a better memory kit, there are a few alternatives that can run the same OC speed & timing with lower voltages (1.35V). Slightly more expensive.

You only really need these boards for overclocking at or above 8000MT/s with GDM off, and even then it's still mostly luck.

The biggest fuckup of the whole AM5 line-up is the lack of 2-DIMM boards.
Besides the shitty current ITX and the unobtainium Gene, there are only 4-DIMM AM5 mobos whereas Intel has a bunch of ATX 2-DIMM options.

why are all ATX cases always front intake to rear

Where are all the chimney setups (intake bottom, exhaust top)? Tower coolers can intake cool air from rear instead, top-down coolers can intake from side panel case fan, GPU can exhaust directly with less interference to the top right

The concept works so well in smaller cases like the Lian Li A3 and the NR200 that they have better thermals compared to some ATX cases (particularly the ones where the GPU sits on top of the PSU compartment so can't directly intake air from bottom)

Low-stock and the margins are inherently lower because you can't move it as quick so the price is set higher for a wider return on investment.
What no one likes to admit is that RGB shit sells and sells well enough that it's cheap enough to mark up and people will pay extra for it and stock moves way quicker.
Let's say you're from the UK and you're in some industrial park estate and you're guys who build PCs. Targeting GAYMERS works because you cna just upcharge them a premium price because they're already potentially blowing thousands on Nvidia+Intel and they'll want the gay LED lights for their room, because it's like a video game and they love video games.

> I thought 6000 was the sweet spot
Yes, it is, because this will have the CPU's memory controller run sychronous with the memory clock, aka "gear one". 8000 will have it run asynchronous but the high memory clock slightly outweighs this drawback. The main advantage of 6000 is that you can install higher capacity modules of RAM, even 4x48GB stable (with some manual tweaking). With 8000+ you can only get 2x24GB running, enough for most unmodded games though.

How important is the motherboard. I switched from a b650 steel legend to a x870 pro rs wifi, which was 30 dollars more but will arrive in a timely manner.
I look at comparisons on PC part picker like on the left side, but I'm not necessarily sure what I'm supposed to be looking at that's different. Really all I see is that they have different amounts of 3.2 USB ports. It's all like 3-4 m.2 slots on every board. I want it to last me like 5-7 years or so. Did I make a correct choice https://pcpartpicker.com/product/mtcgXL/asrock-x870-pro-rs-wifi-atx-am5-motherboard-x870-pro-rs-wifi
I aalready have all the other parts but the mobo. I don't know how impactful it is for high end gaming. I have like a $250ish budget for a mobo but I could go a bit higher to 300 if it means it will last me years. It has to arrive within 2 weeks too. The 650 wasn't going to come until February. I have the new board ordered but I still have time to cancel. I also dunno which brand is better for bios or if there is a difference between MSI, ASRock, etc. motherboards are basically the one component I really have no clue about. >How important is the motherboard
For AM5 they're not very important, within reason of course.
Most B650 boards will handle any CPUs just fine and all X870/E boards are in the overkill range already.

It all comes down to the features you might need or could be interested in such as more or specific I/O, CMOS button, GPU release mechanisms, M.2 slots, PCIE slots, lane sharing etc.
Most likely you can figure it out by just asking yourself what you will actually plug into the board.
>switched from a b650 steel legend to a x870 pro rs
They're almost identical, it's fine.
>if there is a difference between MSI, ASRock, etc.
Not really, the BIOS is very streamlined and it's usually just a matter of time before one vendor eventually replicates another one's feature.
>could go a bit higher to 300
I would get the MSI X870 Tomahawk if it's within your budget, it's an extremely good board with excellent BIOS support and the value king in the X870 lineup imo.
Would also prefer the ASRock X870 Steel Legend to the Pro RS if they're close in price because the latter's USB connectivity is pretty limited (see Hardware Unboxed's X870 roundup video).

This would be what I'm settling for.
Some anon told me to drop samsung PRO to EVO, but prices are the same on Amazon where I am.
Does expo option on the RAM works well ? Or is it more a gimmick features that will barely works. Is it actually worth it spending more on the ram or should I just go with a 5200 ram which is what the CPU technically supports ?
> GPU
it's a placeholder, I'll decide on the GPU after the new cards are released.

So OLED monitors (at least the Samsung QD-OLED panels) are glass under a plastic film, would clarity even on the semi-gloss models be improved by peeling the coating off to reveal the bare screen underneath?

Don’t have the funds to go all out. I was looking at the acer nitro oc radeon rx 7700 xt 12gb

You gotta change the board. That one is garbage. Get the asrock b650m hdv instead. Look at the hardware unboxed video for reference. Isn't 7900gre around the same price? Can you not get that? Also, you don't need an AIO for 7600x, air cooler would suffice. Also, consider arctic lf3 if you want the aio.

In that case consider a used 6950xt or 69xtxh they go extremely hard

>where I am
Where is that? If you have a local PCPP we can price-shop for you.

>drop samsung PRO to EVO
It's likely that neither one is the best value here but, of the two, get the cheaper one. You don't need a TotL SSD for a gaming rig.

>Does expo option on the RAM work well?
EXPO is just the name AMD uses for the top bytes of the SPD config. It's functionally identical to XMP (with minor timing optimizations for AMD CPUs).
EXPO should be preferred on an AMD build but don't pay extra over an equivalent XMP kit.

>should I just go with a 5200 ram
No you've got it right with 6000C30.

Yes.
Improve brightness and contrast and colors
Even works on CRTs with antiglare coating
I fucking hate those coatings yet every monitor from the 90s to now has it
In a dark room removing the coating only has benefits, downside is it will have more glare in a bright room
