RIP Youtube.

Man, without Youtube I wonder what my life will be like from now on. Kinda looking forward to it.
>>
>>103584946
Next stop will be mandatory sign-in for ALL videos, screenshot this.
>>
>>103584946
so just sign in
I don't see the issue here
>>
>>103585034
>Yes, let's just give them more of our data.

Ok goy
>>
>>103584946
Haven't age-restricted videos been like this for years?
>>
>>103585066
Nope, have always been able to view them without any login all this time.

Fresh browser profiles, no tokens, new device, etc, they all showed the videos just fine until today.
>>
>>103584946
>Kinda looking forward to it
i used youtube to watch MIT courses or listen to music, over the years i noticed the trend of the thumbnail cancer and the rise of the so called "content creators", this was google attempt to attract the shittiest slop watchers, because low iq people means no adblocker means money
from that point alone it was obvious that everything is going down the shitter, the interface became extremely bloated and inefficient the feed system offer only retarded shit and thumbnail cancer, it was basically
>WATCH ADS
>HERE'S AN AD
>DID YOU WATCH THE AD?!
>COME AND GET MORE ADS
every month with different indirect attempts, locking content, reducing functionality, make the account and watch ads that's is their business model, sometimes it works and sometimes it gets out of hand and they need to back down to keep the users plugged in but they start all over again after a certain period of time.
this is how google and the rest of the FAGMAN managing their product that's will never stop till people will finally wise up(which will never happen)
so don't expect it to change
>>
>>103585080
its been like this for years always had to use cookies
>>
>>103585034
Because NOW they can gate you by country your account is based in.
>>
>>103585103
Never had to use cookies.

Sounds like you kinda just suck at technology.
>>
Anyone else notice YouTube tries to get around the new UBlock Origin filters constantly? I have to update the filters on a daily basis now.
I like to imagine YT has some dedicated taskforce of screaming pajeets in a Mumbai sweatshop getting angry every time their workarounds fail and the ads are blocked again.
>>
>>103585034
If you use anything other than the official youtube app, eventually they will start banning your account.

Check the issue trackers of newpipe, grayjay, and yt-dlp for the reports of getting banned for being signed in through those apps.
>>
>>103585080
I started exclusively using invidious in 2023 and haven't been able to watch a single age-restricted video since then. Did yt-dlp use some way of bypassing it that invidious didn't?
>>
>>103585132
if you leave your browser on a video that has stopped playing for an hour, you'll come back to find ubo/ubol has blocked hundreds, if not thousands, of items.

it's nuts.
>>
>>103585136
Yes, but that's gone now.
>>
>>103585160
Well now we're in the same boat I guess
>>

To think how badly advertisements have ruined the internet is a good justification for eliminating the concept all together. Ads have ruined every medium they've been injected into: mail, radio, TV, email, and then the internet as a whole. Ads are even injected into the operating system, and not only Windows. KDE recently ran a successful donation campaign with a pop-up. What do you think that will result in?

Obviously, these companies need ad revenue to operate--youtube is expensive to run. But maybe youtube would be a better place if "content creators" had to pay to put their videos online so no ads were necessary. Do you really think any good content would be eliminated from youtube if there was an actual cost to hosting videos?
>>
>>103584946
just open your browser and watch the video you larping faggot
>>
>>103586286
nobody would START making content if you had to pay. It would make it something only corporations- advertisers- could do consistently.

You can make an account with US phone number with disposable numbers that you can buy online for a dollar or so. Then you just need to pass the cookies from your browser. youtube has literally always had the age gate, you guys are all just a bunch of retards that didn't realize you were using proxy based software and, uh oh, all the proxy servers are gone now!

I didn't want to sign in on youtube on my shitty work laptop so I was using a tapermonkey extension for years to skip this shit, legit for over a decade, but yeah like oct or novemeber the proxies that everyone had been using vanished and we all got fucked.

its actually kinda crazy how nobody pays attention to what they're using or installing onto their system, you retards really thought yt-dlp or any of these other extentions were just like toggling a cookie or something? hahaha, no, you are all were literally using someone elses servers with someone elses google ID to "unlock videos"

there was a workaround in yt-dlp (but not youtube-dl, I think) that let you watch them without an acccount. this workaround stopped working a couple months ago and the issue tracker implies it will probably never be fixed.
on top of the workaround recently breaking, they have also started to block some IPs that use cookies with yt-dlp. some people posted about making new google/YT account just for use with yt-dlp, but it wasn't clear whether a phone number was needed. it sounded sketchy and like too much work. luckily most of what I watch isn't age-restricted.

Not exactly. Google already does this shit with map embeds. You're supposed to use the maps api and you get a certain amount of free impressions per month then you get charged for any over that. Recently they started forcing everyone to have an active payment method connected to their APIs accounts to make sure they can start charging more people.

They also created a lot of nitpicky APIs for all of the same services recently just so they can charge for different types of uses. It's quite possible that they might start charging for YT embeds

Sucks to suck. I can't take all the credit though, my team has made me proud of what we have been trying to finally nail down, and judging from these angry replies, is effective.

We had to account for backwards compatibility with legacy devices but we finally reached the milestone that allowed us to finally discard classifications that fall under Obsolete.

This is why it took so long, but none of the past matters. You lost.

Suck it.

I do? Oh. I thought I was a day trader and I'm up about $3k today. Maybe I'm wrong or too stupid to know what I'm doing. It could also be a dread too. Perhaps it is. I'll pinch the cock I can't feel see if that wakes me up.... Nope. Isn't a dream.

Thanks, I am in a really rough spot, have multiple vision problems that prevent me from even being able to drive a car safely that glasses cannot fix, and psychological disabilities as well and no matter what I do I keep running into dead ends for resources. I will admit I was larping and trying to use reverse psychology to coax the truth out (the best way to get the right answer on the internet is to lie) but I seriously need to know how you manage to do this. I apologize for the hostility, but nobody seems to want to cough up the answer for resources. Debt is starting to creep up more and more.

if you have medical problems get a job at amazon. they pay above average for employee retention and you can listen to music and auido books, light novels, or anime or fanfics all day. the benefits are probably the best unskilled labor can obtain.

unsurprising.

a few weeks ago i was given an advert for ukrainian brides when i had the blocker disabled. not sure why it gave me that ad. they will run the wildest of shit without actually checking, unless it gets reported for whatever reason. google just don't give a fuck.

You know those old remastered videos from the 1890s like? People pine for a time when jeets and niggers weren't crawling everywhere and I do too but another thing that gets me is the distinct lack of advertisement anywhere. The soul could breathe and the eye was free to rest on beauty since there weren't attention grabbing distractions thrown up on every panel and wall or on the sides of busses and trams. Advertisement really is a form of terrorism, and even the ads you think you ignore still pull and tear at your consciousness like a white noise that prevents you from maintaining a train of thought

So youtube shouldn't get paid in any way for hosting a million million videos, their storage and bandwidth? What's their incentive to do this?
>>
why do you weird people think youtube is a God given right ? Are you expecting FREE stuff from Google ? Why ? Don't use the service if you don't want to support them, thats simple.
>>
>>103595122
>their storage and bandwidth
It is my bandwidth as well, i pay my ISP with my money to offer it to me and google uses it to serve ads.
>youtube shouldn't get paid in any way
They should be paying me, because they use my bandwidth and my time.
>>
>>103595202
Video ads didn't even exist before google bought youtube
>>
>>103595202
There are two options for google:
>offer it for free
or
>paywall

This in-between thing, where they try to bake the cake and eat it too, is unacceptable. Ads are malware. They take up the uses bandwidth that the user pays for.
It's a giant bait & switch scam. When they established youtube, it didn't have any video ads whatsoever, they only put those in once they got a monopoly.
>>
>>103595230
wow sounds like youtube is an evil platform! And yet you want to use it, why ? Theres alternative platforms out there, go on those, nobody forcing you to use youtube
>>
>>103595238
>And yet you want to use it, why
Because it is a monopoly.
Did you not understand what i wrote? If you have problems with your reading comprehension, just say what words you didn't understand and i am happy to explain it to you.

Google needs to be broken up. Once google gets crushed and we have a free market again, you can happily use this argument. But it would probably be worthless, because i would either not be using youtube or youtube would be forced to offer a better product to survive against competition.
>>
>>103595256
You resort to ad hominem insults when I've been cordial to you.. just continue to live miserably as you whine about most things like a woman, you'll not be missed, faggot.
>>
>>103595272
Where do you see an ad hominem? There is no insult towards you and it is especially not used as an argument.

You obviously didn't understand my post, so i explained it to you again.
If you think that Google isn't a monopoly, then i guess you missed massive court rulings of the past months and i recommend that you get updated on those.

It's actually over for youtube. They are trading normal users for zoomers and indians who are fine with watching ads or paying for premium accounts. This will show returns for a couple of years, but normal people will stop using their site. Creators will have to start pandering to zoomers and indians, so the content will become shit, driving more users away. There doesn't need to be an alternative because nobody needs to watch videos. The execs in charge have calculated that they can make out rich in the next 2 years at the cost of tanking the whole service. Which comes at no risk to them, huge online services fail all the time.
>>
>>103586431
Damn you're retarded. Logging in to any google service gives them access to your overall browsing activity. Not just what you look at on youtube or other google services. Read the user agreement next time.
>>
>>103595344
Zoomers switched to tiktok, where there are less intrusive (or barely any) ads.
Short videos (<10min) aren't viable on youtube, when you have to watch a minute of ads before it. Youtube also had the policy where the video had to be 10min in order for the creator to earn more money, which resulted in lots of padded content that was just wasting your time.

And pajeets could launch their own national bollywood platform at any point. They aren't a stable audience, they could be gone at any moment.

The current antitrust lawsuit might be happening because of how googles anti-consumer practices caused Chinese platforms to rise.
Googles greed is a national security risk.

The government was ok with it for 15 years, but now, that Google actually lost zoomers to the Chinese, it is suddenly a pressing issue.
>>

Zoomers use youtube for music for stuff that's not on spotify
zoomers pay $8-12 just to listen to music

They only do this if their parents already paid for premium. The parents are in their mid-30s. It's those who are the actual target group here. They see more value in it, because they would themselves use it as well.
Zoomers don't even have a defining music genre. They have like EDM and KPOP, and even those only touch a small percentage.

Zoomer ecelebs are all on twitch and tiktok and lots of youtubers followed them and became streamers.
Maybe it is differnt on the other side of the pond, i don't know, but here, zoomers definitelly watch less zoomers than the younger millenials.

Zoomer here. I have never paid for any streaming subscription in my life. I also never used twitch and tiktok. I have a few albums from different bands (with pic related being my favourite) that I saved offline from various sources, mainly rutracker and internet archive. I burned plenty of CDs in my life and repaired a few cassette decks, mainly by replacing decayed belts and capacitors. Contrary to popular belief, tech-literate zoomers do exist, we are just not too visible, compared to the majority of our generetation being incompetent twats. And my parents are in their late 50s btw.

I mean he is right, they do use his bandwidth but that is because he is using it. There is a solution to that, stop going to youtube.com.

>>103596555
>I mean he is right, they do use his bandwidth
You're as misguided as he is. They are not using his fucking bandwidth. To use his** bandwidth would suggest that they are serving content to other users with the pipe he is paying his ISP for, which is fundamentally false. They use their own bandwidth to serve content on their platform and to serve their content through other websites through embeds. He is using his own bandwidth to get their content to his house and no one's forcing him to do that.

Lena is still making music on her own, although its not nearly as great as it used to be. Julia lost it for real this time (if you know what I mean) and joined russian parlament. I am slavoid (not russian) and enjoy russian novels and music. I have their entire discography on my PC and my EDC pendrive, I will also probably record some cassettes as well once I will replace belts in the tape deck that I have recently bought. As for books, I really like russian fantasy as well as classic novels. I just think its sad that a nation with so many great people always has so nasty leaders. Regardless, most of my fellow zoomers listen to something entirely different, like rap or pop. I don't really see all the problems mentioned on /g/ here (most zoomers here can use keyboards for example) but in regards of piracy, a lot of them really doesn't want / know how to do it. Best they can do is fire up something like watchonlinefreemovie69 dot com and hope it works, but there are expections like me, or that one girl from my university who always brings her external SSD full of pirated movies to every party. Speaking of girls, I have noticed that they often offer very little compared to what they demand. Women in my age, some of which are pretty neither inside nor outside, have demands similar to women in western europe/US, although its still possible to find non-retarded zoomerette here.
>>
>>103593493
Anon, that's an ad. Of course it's going to have a somewhat attractive woman in it. Besides, I think it's the same logic for regular pictures as well, if the woman is attractive it attracts attention to something that nobody would otherwise care about. That's why it's in their instinct to do it.
>>
>>103596591
They use his bandwidth, that he pays for, to serve ads to him.
You literally pay for someone else to earn money with you.
