Knowing programming is still important because it teaches you to think programmatically and and how to build scalable solutions. There are certain types of problem solving most people don't even consider simply because they don't know any programming languages.

I had these visions/day dreams as a teen that eventually computers would become these magic boxes no one understood how it worked. Like demolition man or idiocracy type shit but more focused on computers. I imagined that no one would have even the most basic simplest understanding of how it works under the hood beyond the concept of it needing electricity to work. They're all shit and are only useful for helping me avoid reading the documentation.
