But its the best card right now and also it uncovers AMD x Nvidia deep state deal about high pricing cap policy. Literally demons.
>>
>>103614298
AMD and Nvidia definitely collude (or Nvidia sets the prices and AMD just follows), but the B580 isn't insane. It's competing against a two year old card, the 4060. A $40 discount after two years (if we're going by straight performance and not features) is pathetic. It'll be interesting to see where the low end pricing setts after Nvidia and RTG release their low ends

AMD's APUs are too weak to be a 7600 successor
Really in AMD's camp, a 7800 XT class card is the minimum acceptable (as it can run full resolution 1080p in new games), which according to that rumor is being replaced by a $350 12 GB card, basically a more powerful version of the 7700 XT

Basically if you're going Radeon you'll need a card that can run all the current games you want to play at full resolution and then pray that FSR4 will be good and adopted by developers. Really not worth even considering Radeon until there's some qualification of FSR4

I have one and it's not much better than a 4070. Sure it has more vram and slightly faster rasterization, frame times suck, image quality is just garbage, the Windows drivers are still garbage, and Linux isn't worth using so the 7900GRE ended up in my wife's PC. AMD just can't seem to make a good GPU. It crashed in games more times than I could count and even Linux running on Nvidia seems to be more stable than using the 7900GRE.
>>
>>103614863
See>>103614870
It was nowhere close to a 4080 in my testing. The 4070ti was faster. The regular 4070 traded blows with the 7900GRE. What a disaster.
>>
Are there any ATX cases that do bottom-to-top airflow instead of front-to-rear airflow? So basically having the PSU position at the front instead of the bottom or behind?
It makes so much more sense since the GPU can get cool air directly, and the tower cooler can intake from the rear instead of the hot GPU air. Alternatively, AIO up top though it's primarily getting hot GPU exhaust, would need side mesh panel or rear intake again

Absolutely never happened. The 2060 6 GB was $300 when I bought one coincidentally with the Super refresh

>if they say that the 9070XT has new FEATURES
Likely that FSR4 will be available on RX 7000. It has the WMMA aka ML block.

>>103614863
You are confused. My point was that the 9070 XT could not be the top of the given price range >>103614417 because the 7900 GRE is already that performance (it's what it's being compared to) for $550. My question is how much reviewers will give AMD a pass if it releases a refresh of current price/perf, and I noted that it's easier for them to do that if the 7900 GRE's normal market value has disappeared

Question lads: I'm currently sitting next an awesome rig with my 10+ year old 1080, 60hz monitor, and it's fine. It works, I like it.
However, how big a difference would picrel be? Some people say making the jump in refresh rate is night and day, but I have no idea, and yeah I feel like sticking with 1080 for now; I do both gaming and production tasks.

The jump from 60Hz to 120Hz+ is literally night and day not only in reduction of motion blur, but by halving input latency as well which makes the entire system feel more responsive from just moving the cursor around to dragging windows and files on the desktop. You'll never want to go back to 60hz ever again after making the jump.
https://pcmonitors.info/articles/factors-affecting-pc-monitor-responsiveness/

That all said, the monitor you picked out is 1080p diluted across a 27" panel which will look bad compared to your current (I'm assuming) 24" one on account of poor pixel density. And that size, you should upgrade to a 2560x1440 resolution that not only is higher on it's on but is a tighter pixel pitch which will improve perceived sharpness/clarity.

Splurge the extra $40-50 for one of these (the Dell if you can manage it):

VRR / adaptive sync + high refresh is a massive upgrade, but you want a resolution upgrade as well, probably to 1440p if you're on a budget. 1440p is barely more expensive, and if you want HDR the minimum monitor with decent HDR is already 1440p. Yes, because LCDs are never able to fully block the backlight from shining through which is why their contrast ratio is limited.

^I don't see much reason to spend more than this for a 4K display in your region, it has enough bandwidth from the HDMI 2.1 port for full 4k@14Hz without needing DSC. If you go with a 32" panel it'll look fuzzier from the worse pixel density.

Cyberpunk 2077, final fantasy 16, Hogwarts legacy, world of warcraft the war within, diablo 4, path of exile 2, Yakuza series (they all seemingly use the same engine), gta5, Minecraft with ray tracing mods, yuzu emulation. Across the board the 7900GRE failed to keep up with the baseline 4070, often crashing or despite saying it had more fps, felt slower due to increased frame times on both the core i7 14700F and Ryzen 5700X3D. The XT and XTX cards really did do a bit better but the GRE variant really was hot garbage. Not to mention their dogshit drivers that are barely better than they used to be. Often times the XT and XTX card would freeze up in game for like half a second then "catch up" moving hyper fast in unreal engine games. The GRE somehow didn't experience this, maybe because it was too slow, idk I'm speculating.

On Linux these cards do fair a bit better than they do on Windows, but you have to put up with the dogshit on Linux. I simply no longer have the time to babysit Linux anymore outside of testing for the YouTube channel.

You can probably run 4k without issue. Just turn a few settings down or apply a patch from steam. A lot of games devs are super fucking lazy only supporting like a 4090. I run happily with a 4070 in my system and run 4k 120hz all day long. Final Fantasy 16 was notorious for 4k being dogshit and within a day of release a patch from the community was issued and it made the game look and run better at 4k. You don't need a 4090 to have a 4k experience. You just have to use Windows because for some reason modifying games on Linux is still very much hot garbage.
>>
>>103615362
Devs will get even stupider with 20k cuda 32gb 5090, 5080 at this point would be relegated to a 1080p card lmao

Get a nas for that. They're incredibly cheap these days. I have a 4 port nas and it's really really good on gigabit Ethernet. I load roms over the network, videos etc. you don't want to horde data on a SSD.

Oh no doubt. I'll have a 5080 but I feel your pain. The steam community is always patching games to run on lower end hardware though. I didn't get a 4090 or a 4080 because I couldn't find them during Bitcoin then covid... I settled on the 4070 and now a 4070ti, which I got in a trade. I have both cards and a 7900gre and my buddy has a 7900 XT and 7900 XTX we tested. Just wait and see because there will be patches you can apply that YouTubers don't seem to ever fucking mention. The amd specific patches seem fewer though. There's one for ff16 but finding things for more obscure games like the Lego games is a terrible experience due to more people just having low end Nvidia cards and patching games to run on those. Some of the performance patches do work with AMD cards but some make it straight up crash. Unfortunately zluda doesn't work on Windows just yet. AMD really is a Linux first card. And that's cool if you're into Linux. Devs need to be held to a higher standard when games from 2015 look better than 2024 games.

>>
>>103615717
Check whether your radiator gets warm and whether you feel any vibration from the tubes. If it's cold or if there is no vibration, your aio is defective. If it's warm and vibrating, check whether the cooler mated properly with the CPU based on the thermal paste spread.
>>
>>103615744
I bought the AIO because I was having this same issue with my first psu cooler (which was air) which makes me think this is a software/driver issue. Without any dump logs to review though troubleshooting is very difficult.

Yes. It's artifacts are temporal not spacial (that's literally what the T in it stands for) meaning they create blur and ghosting from having insufficient time series of previous frames to construct the AA algo with regardless of the resolution of said frames.

I don't mind filler cards if they actually took the design savings from the smaller dies and priced the resulting cards to make a real-world improvement in value over the older cards they are meant to replace. It took years for the 7700 XT to become viable against new/used 6800 XTs and I have zero faith the RDNA4 cards will provide meaningful competition to the 7900 XT/GREs that have been falling in price all year. And if AMD won't beat their own previous generation of cards, what's the point of even releasing a new series?

>What’s the cheapest ssd I can get for gaymes? What GB/s should I aim for?
Speed differences between the fastest and slowest SSD are neglible in the real world because there is hardly any difference between their access times (latency) and small queue depth random read/writes which games/OS mostly do. LTT proved this with a blind test years ago:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DKLA7w9eeA

As far as which model go with the best $/GB model. I recommend this:

Damn, thanks anon. I didn't even realize you could just run a github script and activate it that easily. Makes sense though, just advances Windows market share and I imagine the average PC user isn't aware they can do this, so it doesn't really hurt their bottomline.

Does anyone like GN or Hardware Unboxed review all the AIB versions of a new graphics card when it launches or just the founder edition? Where should I look to make a decision about which 5090 version to buy when it launches next month?
>>
>>103616587
The only thing that really matters between models these days is the cooler efficacy, and that primarily comes down to heatsink mass. If you don't care about noise at all get a cheap Zotac or something, or if you do care about noise go for an MSI Trio/Asus TUF, or even a Suprim/Strix.

Seriously power delivery circuitry doesn't matter anymore as a relevant consideration, as these cards are all redlined out of the box anyway and have pathetic overclock headroom.

>>
>>103616654
Do you think this is a "past performance predicts future results" scenario where Gigabyte's 5090 OC will perform similarly well?
>>
>>103616735
Considering there is a high likelihood that AIBs will just copypasta their existing 4090 coolers over to the 5090 (for good or bad), yes.
>>
>>103616735
dont get me wrong, the strix had a banging good cooler but they messed up in their EMF design by using components that would vibrate very annoyingly in the audible range of humans
coil whine is not something reviews test for so that's why I said it is completely a gamble on whether you'd be happy with what you got
