I used to think like you until I started getting real offers. These companies see you as a number, and I see them as a bag. I'm not competing against my co-workers (I sorta am), I'm really competing against these fucking companies. They are my opp, and if they don't give me what i need, or if they want too much leverage fuck them they will always come crawling back to people with the right credentails, experience, whatever. They have CEOs dumping companies into a trench, then taking them back. The only person that would be upset is your peon of a manager and if you take full advantage of the market, you could tower over them like the fucking clowns they are.

Never give these jobs mercy my nigga, fucking rape them for every cent I'm not even joking. Treat them like how you want to treat women, run through these fucking companies bro they owe you nothing. Take the better offer even a week in, fuck them.

please define lowwit and highwit and provide a theorem that shows midwit is bounded by lowwit and highwit and maybe I will listen.
I'm waiting.
>>
>>106417324
If you truly like Job A and upon hearing that you've got the Job at Job B, if Job A matches Job B offer then stay. If they don't match, dip.
>>
>>106417449
A lowwit is someone with very little brain power. They do the simple thing, because that’s all they can see.

A highwit is someone with a lot of brain power. They also end up doing the simple thing, but for the opposite reason: they see all the complexity, work through it, and realize the simple thing is still best.

A midwit is stuck in the middle. They’re smart enough to avoid the obvious answer (because they think it’s “too simple”), but not smart enough to see why the simple answer was actually correct. So they overcomplicate things.
>>
>>106417449
Low wit: This is too hard for my brain to handle, make it simple
Mid wit: This looks complicated so therefore it must be good
High wit: An genius admires simplicity, an idiot admires complexity.
>>
If you have two different interviews should you mention at them both that you've got multiple interviews or does that make employers get angry?
>>
>>106417496
It's unfortunately a "Read the room" situation. Some employers like to think that people only apply for one job even in this job market.
>>
>>106417475
>>106417485
is the simple as identified by the high wit the same simple identified by the low wit?
>>
>>106417496
Who cares if your employer is angry, they don't care if they are angry; they care if you are worth the market incentive.
>>
>>106417504
Yes. I would even say, the highwit comes to the same simple solution faster than the lowwit.
>>
>>106417498
Are you taken more seriously if you tell them you have options?
I'm just wondering if they just reject you and tell you to go for another job
>>
>>106417504
Most of the time I would say so, a sign of a person who can understand complex topics is that they can abstract it into simplified forms so that someone of a lower wit can still understand it.

>>106417517
Use it as a bargaining chip wisely. It might get you off the candidate list, it might also show to them that your experience is worth something and you need to be compensated for it. Supply/Demand thinking.
>>
>>106417517
NTA but it's a good thing to tell recruiters, letting them know you have other interviews/offers and they will push you to that interview faster. IDK about interviews, you should always lie to them like they are "your dream job".
>>
>>106417514
ok so if speed is a factor, many a midwit retorts that he is faster than the lowwit and the highwit. What is your response to such midwittery?
>>
>>106417496
I wouldn't mention it unless they ask. If they do id probably be honest unless you've been blowing hot air up their ass about how their company is the only one you'd ever DREAM of leaving your current role for.
>>
>>106417545
Midwits simply come to the wrong conclusions faster than the lowwit.
>>

>>
>>106417642

>>
>>106417651

>>
>>106417664
It's obviously not, my stocks are higher than ever???
>>
>>106417343
Not my first language. Python's syntax is confusing. For example, people say there's no bracket hell, but I see brackets used a lot on top of the required indentation. What's the point of the brackets if you still need to indent and vice versa? Why is the colon needed when you need to indent? If indentation is such a big thing, why isn't even used consistently?
>>
>>106417475
so the high-wit burned all this brainpower and time to end up doing what the low-wit did faster
so who really is the high-wit?
>>
>>106417475
This is as stupid as digging a hole and filling it back in, which the highwit in your example is doing. The lowwit person would simply not do it. It doesn't matter what process the highwit person goes through if the result is ultimately the same. There's no value in effort. Only results matter. You need to come up with a better example.
>>
>>106417793
The more racist one.
>>
>>106417873
I think a better way of explaining is that a the low wit goes off of intuition and has no thoughts beyond that, the midwit thinks there has to be more to it than gut feeling while the high wit knows his intuition is correct and endeavours to prove why it is correct.
I would organize it
>Low wit: Thinks he is right, can't prove it
>Mid wit: Thinks he isn't right, endeavours to find the truth (Most midwits unfortunately fall into categories of being pedantically correct instead of correct).
>High wit: Thinks he is right, has ability to prove he is right.
>>
>>106417873
The highwit person wouldn't do it either.
>>
How do you properly self-assess your capabilities as an engineer?

I have a feeling I suffer from extreme imposter syndrome despite having roughly a decade of experience (3/4 of which professionally).

I think I could realistically tackle 99% of tasks across the stack, from low-level assembly/machine code shit (one project I remember involved building and optimising bespoke GPU shaders for a distributed computing problem, all solo) up to webshit JS frameworks with normie product perspective etc., yet I sperg out during technical interviews? I think it's the insane pressure to perform, and I think it's a very shitty way to assess the quality of engineer you're going to hire.

Makes me think I'm shit at this but maybe I am much better than average and the job market is just rigged against non-pajeets and people that don't memorise Leetcode solutions.

A prediction I've heard is that soon, educated US citizens will start emigrating to places like the EU or the third world to start out their careers, similar to how many Chinese and Indians right now get the degree in the US and then head back to their own countries so they can use it as prestige, and only re-immigrate to the US once they've got enough work experience to qualify for senior roles.

One steelman I have is that this theory relies on trying out in other countries easier than domestically, and in India, China, etc. this is emphatically untrue. Those countries already have much more competitive job markets, and much more toxic work cultures. Unless they have their own versions of our "visa favoritism", which I'm pretty sure they don't. IK China and Singapore are notorious for being insanely difficult to legally emigrate to.

That's why IMO it'll be places like Europe, LATAM, and SEA instead.

They'll likely have to know a foreign language, of course. But many already do due to being 2nd generation immigrants. And even just knowing Spanish already opens up many doors.

One major deterrent to people doing this already would be the lower pay. However many Americans could now see better politics, better society, less car dependence, and less expensive cost of living as perks. And they'll do anything for the experience even if it's not ideal pay, etc.

well swiss still have the priority, for work and housing. If you google you can find some anecdotes about non-eu and maybe eu? epf grads having to go back to their cunts

>but then you go into typical blue collar places to find them full of your diverse set of Balkanians, Turkic and Maghrebi people

very little swiss working in those fields I'm guessing. I read some studies that basically said that the way the country works, immigration depresses wages for low skill work but leads to higher remuneration for high skilled workers. We basically hand out grug positions to foreigner so we can study 5 years for some autistic thing. This then leads to the populist right and so on.

He's an example:
                advanced_training.color_aug.change(
color_aug_changed,
inputs=[advanced_training.color_aug],
outputs=[basic_training.cache_latents],
)

Why is the indentation even needed when you already have "(" and ")" to enclose the arguments?

    config_toml_data = {
key: value
for key, value in config_toml_data.items()
if value not in ["", False, None]
}

There's no indentation for the if.

It would be great if Python's indentation rules are consistent.

New York city and San Francisco have 20% or higher salaries than my city.
Therefore if I go there, I'm automatically going to be paid 20% or more right? All I have to do is go to new york or California?

Perhaps a bit easier in UK and Ireland, but good luck with France or Germany...

How do I get a job as a "normal" C++ application developer?
Not a "fun" C++ job like gamedev or music DSP. I know those jobs are impossible to get because all the internet autists want them. I mean one of those jobs where you just work for a medium-sized company developing some huge Qt application, and you occasionally have to write some lower level win32 code or maybe do some more specialized stuff (graphics, audio, networking, etc.)
I have like 50 Qt applications on my machine, so this kind of job has to exist, but I never see postings for them

There was no plan.

I was addicted to cooming, playing League of Legends and watching TV in my dorm room. I watched a few day in the life tech videos and always wanted a science/tech related degree so I went with a CS degree as it seemed to have the best WLB and was flexible to many fields.

At this point my only option is the military it seems, no other tech job will take me. I need to leave home it's getting embarrassing with my parents at this point.

What's funny is my younger brother just graduated too with a CS degree and can't find a job either. Double whammy to the family.

I was being considered for 3 different positions at the same company. The recruiter of the 3rd and last one asked me if I was currently in other processes (why don't they just know it?), and I linked him all the 3 with their respective IDs.

Then I was instantly rejected from the other 2 older positions, managed separately by him and another HR.

I still don't know how to interpret this. I don't know whether to feel stupid, or thankful that they didn't put me through the whole interview processes for 2 positions if they really didn't want to seriously take in anybody.

I just started taking Prozac. My mental health has deteriorated these past couple weeks. I wake up every morning and I’m hit with anxiety that never really stops.

Someone once told me my life is set up in a way where happiness is impossible to achieve. I think my life is set up the way it is because of long-term anxiety/depression.

I’ve been on meds for most of my life. I probably need therapy as well, but I also need a full-time job. Is it even possible to do both when you’re working 40/hrs a week on-site during regular daytime hours?

Depression hates a moving target, so keep moving

I'd say try chatgpt for therapy. No joke, but ask to it why you think that way or this way and ask for refarming those way of thinking / behavior.
Ask to chatgpt about how other people are doing like "why are people never get so depressed unlike me" or "they play so much games and youtube too but still able to make money, how?"
Just type a couple question but dont get addicted. It's a decent access to CBT and acceptance therapy honestly. Worked for me.

My last problem is making money. Chatgpt doesn't help much on that. I found it easier to ask for a job from an irl person instead of bouncing between brute forcing it sitting in front of your PC applying for hundred jobs and gooning.

Dont think about it too much bro, a job is just a job, it doesn't have to tie with your self worth.

Practice for interviews. Continue to aim for the clearance.

You can make up for lack of education by studying and practicing. Most of the jobs you are aiming for didn't even require a degree a few years ago making the requirements more about critical thinking.

Your other alternative is continuing to play the jeet game in private sector w/o that clearance.

this is your 2nd admission that you have never used a password manager, you lazy retard.
they make it as easy as copying and pasting some data, clicking some buttons and typing some characters
also, you are unemployed and complain about a minor annoyance. have you ever worked for a single day in your life?

Then I will sell a monthly subscription for weebs that enjoy watching foreign vtubers. Wish me luck.

Well if you're subtitling a stream then you'll have two choices: either display each new token as soon as possible, which will behave in the way you described as annoying, or batch tokens and display then in chunks which will introduce latency.

Maybe I used to, but as I grew older it all just seemed to be less "Evil Tech", but more "Evil People"
The same arguments for owning guns works just as well for tech: You should have it simply because people that don't like you also have it.
>>
>>106445330
that doesnt really work since you dont gain the same benefits from "tech" as the evil people do when they use it, nor can you really "defend yourself" with tech against other tech. the winning solution to "evil tech" is to go live in the woods without a phone or internet connection

That's why you seem pretty immature. By going innawoods because of the mere threat of "Evil tech" the holders of it successfully ran a denial of service on you. They essentially won because you made a scary image in your head.

Tech companies are almost all lead by MBAs due to the unfortunate fact that there's a lot of money in tech.
MBAs are brainwashed to exclusively make evil choices and when all things are equal they will choose the option that hurts the most people.
Remember to never hire an MBA into your company if the day ever comes.

everyone talks about bits and bytes like they're eternal, and not to be deprecated in 2 years. This is in contrast to spending time with family, instead of working overtime, like going to your children basketball game or having a family movie night. Memories that will last a life time, that you can cherish; instead of, pouring another glass of coffee and popping adderall to fix the code generating template for the next contract and pumping out functors for that data analysis guy who gave you material due tonight.

>>
>>106446625
the concept of 0 and 1 is eternal though. also the things you mention get old fast. no one is telling you to not spend time with family but your life cannot revolve around comforts. you were put on earth by god to struggle and create purpose for yourself and others.
>>
>>106446717
but if you want to be bleeding edge start up incubator founder, you're expected to sleep in a cage home with 12 other indian coders to meet the founders deadlines, and get paid when we go public at our IPO.

How do you have time for god when you're a hustling capitalist in the american late stage capitalism.

I heard coding for a big software company is almost the same. Except all your payment goes to your landlord for your studio apartment so you don't need to commute for 3 hours everyday.
>>
>>106446717
I would argue in the modern corporate environment, the struggle is not in service of purpose, or at least purpose that is beneficial for oneself and for others positively. Before, you would see the direct consequences of your actions, what you have worked on have real impactful outcomes and once delivered immediately fulfilled its' purpose for the sake of the buyer. Now, a lot of deliverables revolve around the purpose for the company, not the consumer. A lot of projects revolve around how to make the company better, not how to make the final product better for the consumer, since we have fooled ourselves that the appearance of a well functioning company is more valuable than what is being put forward (See: CISCO having a lower evaluation in one quarter than their raw profits). It's a balancing act, but I can see why the comforts of people are more appealing than their struggles and purpose at work.

Fuck, I sound like a LinkedIn influencer doing this, niggerfaggots infected my brain.
