what nvme ssd can run at gen5x2 for gen4x4 speeds?
I'm planning on using the Msi x870e tomahawk and the second nvme slot is connected to the cpu but shares 4 gen5 lanes with the usb-c 40gbps ports, ending at 2 gen5 lanes for each.
Apparently not many nvms can run gen5x2 for full gen4 speeds so I would like help here
Alternatively, is there any benefit to the usb c ports? I even found out that if you use both ports at the same time, the bandwidth gets split making them 20gbps transfer speeds. If theres no real benefit ill just disable them in the bios so all 4 gen5 lanes go to the second m.2

Can you guys give me your opinion? I'm thinking of getting an imac (for macOS/icloud) and want to be able to play these games, would an M1 be able to handle these at decent framerates? Or would I need an M2?

Or do you think it would be better to get a mini pc? Keep in mind I'd have to add the extra cost of a monitor on top of that, where as imacs already have a top-tier monitor.

Italy, budget is € 2K. I want to build a future-proof PC (especially in the GPU and storage departments) which can still be valuable in a 10-years time span. I will be running programming, AI generation softwares (image now, video in the future, when I want to invest into a better GPU), 2K gaming at 240fps (I mostly play fps games, most of which are old, like Mordhau, Chivalry 2, Team Fortress 2, Overwatch 2), heavy usage of web applications and web browsing (Chrome), maybe even getting into video editing in the future. I know that both the CPU and the PSU are overkill for what I need now but, again, I don't want to cheap out on them now and regret it later. My current PC desktop mounts 8 GB of RAM, a GTX 1060 6GB and an i5 6500 and I think it's lived past its lifetime: even watching 2K YouTube videos at a stable 60fps can be challenging, let alone playing smoothly at my favourite games at more than 80 fps without a heavy customisation. SN8100 is a better drive than the 9100 Pro in practically all review data.
990 Pro is included because it competes well against the SN850X (in Windows)

990 Evo Plus is a decent DRAMless option to include (for Windows), but it's a Gen 5x2 drive.
Not everyone will decide to use a DRAMless drive as their primary SSD in the Gen 5x4 slot, then it'll run in Gen 4x2 with performance capped to 4GB/s.

No OC profile, with power limits on. I'll stick with the air cooler for simplicity's sake. This is my son's PC and he likes his components to match the case. He is also into musical theatre.

Any suggestions for a motherboard for AM5? At first I was thinking about the B850M MSI Gaming Plus Wi-Fi, but after discussing it on other boards, I changed my opinion to the B850-G ROG Strix. My budget is quite limited. As for the CPU, I'm thinking of installing a 7500f, then maybe upgrading to a 7800x3d, in theory, an MSI with 8 phases is completely enough for me. My case is a jonsbo z20, so the asus tuf won't work because their pcie slot is shifted by 1 slot.

Been considering that, but what would the difference even be when I got paste for days? Here's the thing, it's a Ventus 3X. So it has two modes of operation, either "off" or "LOUD AS BALLS" (at least 30% since this thing has no heatsink whatsoever). Not sure if I could just buy an aftermarket heatsink or just sell off the card entirely and get something that's at least half as good as dissipating heat as my 280X's cooler. Can't exactly just strap it onto the card and put 120mm fans on it.

Computer suddenly wont turn on. Was fine last night and went to wake it from sleep this afternoon and it didnt wake, so i tried to power it on and nothing happens. Removed the cmos battery while unplugged and did the power button a few times and tried again and still nothing at all happens when i hit the power button. I dont understand what could have happened or where to even start troubleshooting. This PC isnt even very old

Does your motherboard have any power indicator lights? If yes and the lights are not on, check to see if your power supply is working by shorting the power pin and checking the voltage with a multimeter.

If the psu works and your computer doesn't turn on, next try shorting the power jumper on the motherboard.

If there's still nothing, try leaving just one slice of ram in.

If that still not work, either borrow some parts from a friend or take it to a shop.

If you need more storage go ahead and buy an NVMe. May as well be PCIe 4.0 based since they're just as cheap as 3.0 models now.
If you don't need more storage, don't bother. NVMe's speed advantage only really shows up in "productivity" applications i.e. moving large, contiguous files.

Hm well I have one HDD thats 1 TB thats full with downloaded stuff that I could probably get rid of, and my current SSD OS is about 3/4s full, so It would probably help to get another one just for extra space even though I'm probably not going to need realistically need more than another 500gb or so

Okay yeah, budget permitting, I'd go for a 2TB PCIe4 NVMe. No point skimping since you're going to reuse it as an OS drive on your next build. The 2TB SN770, SN7100, and NM790 are all around $120 right now. All solid midrange drives. If you're on Windows 11 (issues with HMB drives), the cheapest model I can see with onboard DRAM is the Team A440 at $140.

Ok so I'm in a weird spot. two years ago I bought a ryzen 5 5600x and the relative MOBO. I was planning to use it with my 6750XT. However we had a big health scare in the house and I couldn't finish my build until now. Now, I find myself with an almost 6 years old CPU. What do I do? I come from an old intel i7 4770s, I play mainly japanese games, emulation, very few AAA and some gachaslop like Wuthering Waves, Rimworld, EU IV, those kind of games. Do I just finish the build I have right now, do I buy a newer CPU? I play at 1080p/60fps and I don't plan to upgrade at 144op anytime soon. Yes I know I'm a retard and I should have finished the build sooner but I didn't feel like to spend money during uncertain times. I haven't bought RAM sticks yet.
