what nvme ssd can run at gen5x2 for gen4x4 speeds?I'm planning on using the Msi x870e tomahawk and the second nvme slot is connected to the cpu but shares 4 gen5 lanes with the usb-c 40gbps ports, ending at 2 gen5 lanes for each.Apparently not many nvms can run gen5x2 for full gen4 speeds so I would like help hereAlternatively, is there any benefit to the usb c ports? I even found out that if you use both ports at the same time, the bandwidth gets split making them 20gbps transfer speeds. If theres no real benefit ill just disable them in the bios so all 4 gen5 lanes go to the second m.2

Can you guys give me your opinion? I'm thinking of getting an imac (for macOS/icloud) and want to be able to play these games, would an M1 be able to handle these at decent framerates? Italy, budget is € 2K. I want to build a future-proof PC (especially in the GPU and storage departments) which can still be valuable in a 10-years time span. I will be running programming, AI generation softwares (image now, video in the future, when I want to invest into a better GPU), 2K gaming at 240fps (I mostly play fps games, most of which are old, like Mordhau, Chivalry 2, Team Fortress 2, Overwatch 2), heavy usage of web applications and web browsing (Chrome), maybe even getting into video editing in the future. I know that both the CPU and the PSU are overkill for what I need now but, again, I don't want to cheap out on them now and regret it later. My current PC desktop mounts 8 GB of RAM, a GTX 1060 6GB and an i5 6500 and I think it's lived past its lifetime: even watching 2K YouTube videos at a stable 60fps can be challenging, let alone playing smoothly at my favourite games at more than 80 fps without a heavy customisation. Let me guys know what you think about my build.

My budget is quite limited. As for the CPU, I'm thinking of installing a 7500f, then maybe upgrading to a 7800x3d, in theory, an MSI with 8 phases is completely enough for me. My case is a jonsbo z20, so the asus tuf won't work because their pcie slot is shifted by 1 slot.
>Ryzen 3700X>RTX 3060 TiWhat can I do to get this part combination as quiet as possible? The coolers on both are kind of shitty, and the case leaves no room for noise dampening modifications.
>>106425726I would get a cheap 120mm CPU cooler and use an NF-A12x25 with thatsame deal with the GPU, deshroud and graft two NF-A12x25s onto ityou could also replace the GPU's paste with PTM, which will help to some extent
>>106425726you can also set a -20mV offset to your CPU cores via pbotuner2, that'll help
>>106425820>I would get a cheap 120mm CPU coolerI've been using a Hyper 212 Turbo, and I'm thinking of going for something stronger than that perhaps would help besides just more economical power modes, though it has degraded a lot. r>GPU paste with PTMBeen considering that, but what would the difference even be when I got paste for days? Here's the thing, it's a Ventus 3X. So it has two modes of operation, either "off" or "LOUD AS BALLS" (at least 30% since this thing has no heatsink whatsoever). Not sure if I could just buy an aftermarket heatsink or just sell off the card entirely and get something that's at least half as good as dissipating heat as my 280X's cooler. Can't exactly just strap it onto the card and put 120mm fans on it.
Computer suddenly wont turn on. Was fine last night and went to wake it from sleep this afternoon and it didnt wake, so i tried to power it on and nothing happens. Removed the cmos battery while unplugged and did the power button a few times and tried again and still nothing at all happens when i hit the power button. >>106428989I see the 3 little channels on my cooler, is that good enough then for the buzzing thing? In my setup I've got the exhaust side flush on the cooler, is that the same as having them on the other end?
>update driver >RTSS frame limiter stops working in all games How does this even happen wtf
>>106429286I heard asrock keeps having difficulties despite bios updates but the issues were blamed wholly on mobo manufacturers not following spec and amd xerself is flawless and beautiful
>>106429479It's 110% not because swapping the ccd and l3d led to structural weakness to higher voltage and current, nope!It must be aibs fault
Why is wan 2.2 like this?
>>106426437It was probably vaxxed.
>>106429448RTSS has beta updates that are hidden on Guru3D forum
>>106428960what is /smg/?
I have a choice between those 5070Ti manufacturers:ZOTAC, Inno3D, GigabyteWhich one is the best and has the least amount of issues out of those 3?
>>106429657Yeah I was on the latest beta update prior to the issue. Anyway it seems uninstalling and reinstalling afterburner fixed the issue. Thank god, because i didn't want to have to reconfigure my undervolt settings all over again. Fortunately you can uninstall while keeping your settings.
I currently have a 1 TB SATA Samsung EVO SSD. I could upgrade to a NVMe which supposedly is vastly superior, but I'm currently still on an AM4 motherboard. I also heard that PCIe 5 drives are faster but only in theory so its not worth it to buy one right now. Should I just wait a bit longer and then upgrade my entire rig to am5? Or just get a NVMe upgrade now? Mostly do some gaming/LLM dabbling on the side
>>106429953Just get an SN850X or 990 pro. It will be faster than SATA and you can being the drive with you to a new build
>>106429953If you need more storage go ahead and buy an NVMe. May as well be PCIe 4.0 based since they're just as cheap as 3.0 models now.If you don't need more storage, don't bother. NVMe's speed advantage only really shows up in "productivity" applications i.e. moving large, contiguous files.
>>106429979Oki thanks. Thats what I was considering but I wanted to hear it from a human instead of a chatbot, so thanks
>>106430037Hm well I have one HDD thats 1 TB thats full with downloaded stuff that I could probably get rid of, and my current SSD OS is about 3/4s full, so It would probably help to get another one just for extra space even though I'm probably not going to need realistically need more than another 500gb or so
just release udna already you pieces of shit
>Can't find anyone that sells Helium hard drives in this God forsaken land>Finally find 1 seller>Refurbished
>>106430079let me finish first
>>106430062Okay yeah, budget permitting, I'd go for a 2TB PCIe4 NVMe. No point skimping since you're going to reuse it as an OS drive on your next build. The 2TB SN770, SN7100, and NM790 are all around $120 right now. All solid midrange drives. If you're on Windows 11 (issues with HMB drives), the cheapest model I can see with onboard DRAM is the Team A440 at $140.
I wanted to get a PNY 5070 ti but I heard it has weird rattling noises. Is the GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 5070 Ti WINDFORCE OC SFF a better choice?
>>106423308Ok so I'm in a weird spot. two years ago I bought a ryzen 5 5600x and the relative MOBO. I was planning to use it with my 6750XT. However we had a big health scare in the house and I couldn't finish my build until now. Now, I find myself with an almost 6 years old CPU. What do I do? I come from an old intel i7 4770s, I play mainly japanese games, emulation, very few AAA and some gachaslop like Wuthering Waves, Rimworld, EU IV, those kind of games. Do I just finish the build I have right now, do I buy a newer CPU? I play at 1080p/60fps and I don't plan to upgrade at 144op anytime soon. Yes I know I'm a retard and I should have finished the build sooner but I didn't feel like to spend money during uncertain times. I haven't bought RAM sticks yet.
>>106430298So what all do you need to finish it? I'd be hesitant to reuse a PSU thats 10+ years old at this point, so maybe PSU and RAM? RAM is the only additional thing that wouldn't carry over to a new build anyways, 32 GB can be had for less than $100.
>>106430183Gigabyte should be ok if a bit hot and loud because of the small cooler
>>106430455I dont like that. Which ones have no loud or rattling noises?
>>106430084You could fill it with your fart.
>>106430464None of the MSRP models afaikYou'd have to step up to a gaming X trio, tuf or gaming oc to have that privilege
>>106430464You can try your luck with the Zotac solid 5070ti
>>106424992Same question guys, why they all at 0? how to fix?
Is 32gb still enough for gaming? Will it be enough 5 years from now?
Is there any reason (outside of coming with new GPU power cables which I don't need) to upgrade to an ATX 3.1 power supply instead of carrying over my older ATX 2.4 power supply from my current build? It's a Corsair SF750
>>106430519>yes>noGet 48gb minimum for new builds
>>106430404yeah pretty much.. PSU and RAM are the only pieces left. is the 5600 still viable today?
>>106430482If you don't get replies, try asking in the home server thread or on level1techs forums. Threadripper is very niche and you won't find too many people who know that platform's quirks here.

What's the minimum that I need to play anything at 60 FPS? Like CS:GO 2, Warframe, Killing Floor 3 or Payday 3. Maybe indies like PeakI'm poor and I'm Mexican so that's going to make me pay more in the money conversion plus sending fee
>>106430667Killing Floor 3 is gonna be the most demanding since its unoptimized UE5Maybe a 7600xt or 5060? Gonna depend on what prices you have locally.
>>106430699That's all I need? A better GPU? No CPU or more ram?
For a second I was feeling smug that my 5070 can run MGS Delta at 60 FPS high, like "heh unoptimized my ass looks what my PC can do" but then I remembered how much I paid for this PC... Yeah this performance kinda ass. 50-60 DLAA, solid (kek) 60 at DLSS Quality, 1440p

>>106430764what an odd thing to sayim from mexico and the only component going over msrp are graphics cards (and not by much to be honest)everything else is about 1:1 with first worldcaveat is that most budget or lesser brands tend to just not send any inventory over here so you are "stuck" with household name brands most of the timealso, the used parts here tend to be sold just as expensive as if they were new because people keep being retarded and buying used when the price is just 50usd less than brand new
>>106430895What do you suggest then, or what do you use, or where you buy from?

>>106431143What's this? A defense contractor pc?
>>106431069n100 is probably enough
>>106431194>What's this? A defense contractor pc?Government corruption in the Philippines. Some mayor bought a bog standard $1000 i3 office PC and billed it for $175000. This is how many companies steal money; they have a friend or relative set up a shell company that sells stuff at a ridiculous markup, and then they will contract them exclusively, and pocket the difference. If they buy stuff from a grant or from taxes, then it's basically stealing the money that way. Like in Independence Day, when President Bill Pullman gets told by the Jew Dad if he really believed that a hammer costs $20k and a toilet seat costs $50k.Our local government did it too, they exclusively purchased groceries from a shop right next to the political parties HQ, where things like bread and milk cost something like 15$.
>>1064312801000 USD is still too expensive for this build. this honestly looks like it only costs 250 dollars!
>>106431320Doesn't matter how much it originally cost, it could be a 14900k with dual 5090s, the point is that it got billed $175000, was paid for by taxpayer money, and the difference got pocketed by the government.

Hm, those Asrock boards should still work fine with the 7800X3D? Maybe with all the problems, there will be some discounts available, hopefully.I mean, what is the alternative? MSI is more expensive, also only 6-layer construction instead of 8.Asrock also use nice ALC codecs, no need for another sound solution.

anons I have a hard drive question, I have an old B450 Tomahawk non-pro motherboard, it has an M2 slot but I don't know if buying an M2 drive will be any faster than my SATA SSD OS drive, what do you think?
>>106431767If you have to ask, you won't notice a difference. NVMe is unnoticeable compared to even a SATA II SSD in most use cases.
>>106431404>now I have fomo I don't have TWO 32" 4k240hz qdoledsBuy an OLED TV when it's discounted. Owning two TB400 OLED monitors is a waste of money.
>>106431640ASRock boards have been reported to kill a few Ryzen 7000 CPUs as well; it's not posted as often as the 9000 X3D chips.I would at least wait until the new 3.40 BIOS is available for that board you're interested in, and apply that update before you install the CPU to the ASRock board. Most AM5 B- & X- boards have a CPUless BIOS updating feature; read the board manual for specifics.
