5060 ti is simply a little bit faster than 9060 XT in many gpu bound titles kys shill that chart is irrelevant. AMD GPU + CPU provides the most benefit in CPU bound games due to less overhead on nvidia cards and SAM helps with better frametime stability. AMD engineers have themselves said there are specific optimizations with SAM when it is both an AMD CPU and GPU.

The FPS difference between similar tiers of Intel/AMD CPUs is basically a run-to-run variation.
Obvious except for the X3D because Intel doesn't have an answer to that.

>disabling hyperthreading cores makes the cache shared to less logical processors

I was like super close to buying a 9800X3D which would have required a new motherboard, new cooler, new RAM, and new SSD (current Samsung 960 EVO 500GB is at 39% health). Now it looks like my 9900k just isn't gonna die. Honestly I think I'll end up just building an entirely new build, GPU included when Intel releases their 3D cache competitor to AMD's 3D stuff.

You'll be spoiled for choice next year, but Zen 6 is more likely to be a good chip than Intel's Nova Lake
You should also overclock the memory to improve FPS. Intel CPUs scale well with memory OCs.

>>
>>106541512
>You should also overclock the memory to improve FPS. Intel CPUs scale well with memory OCs.
my Memory kit is unfortunately pretty shit for overclocking, but fantastic for timing tuning. I had a first generation Ryzen back when Ryzen was extremely picky about memory kits. It's a G-skill 2x16GB kit of Samsung B-die 3200Mhz @ 14-14-14-34 timings. I was able to get it down to 3200MHz @ 12-12-12-32 with stock voltage. Will not OC past 3600MHz even if I feed it stupid voltage. I have a Patriot Viper kit of 4400MHz CL19 memory in my closet but it's only 2x8GB and games/Windows uses so much RAM these days, I don't wanna downgrade to 16GB
>Zen 6 vs Nova Lake
I'm just hoping Intel brings something with 3D on die cache that beats AMD in some way, even if it's only more cache. I know AMD has 96MB of cache but I remember reading somewhere Intel was floating ideas of 144MB cache and MMO's LOVE that cache, so I'm going to buy the best option for WoW.
>>
>>106541538
It's likely because the 9900k just sucks at handling dual rank sticks and z390 and z370 boards prefer four slots, and not your memory sticks that are the problem. 4x8gb b-die will fly on your 9900k if you have an MSI or Asus board. Gigabyte board has problems training memory speeds faster than 3800mhz
Anyway most of the gain with memory oc can be had from tightening timings like trrd_s, trrd_l, tfaw, tRFC and tREFI
>>
So the only thing left on my build is the gpu and the bar is that it has to be capable of running mh wilds on 60fps on 1080p looking here on my third world country the 5060ti 16gb and the 5070 have a difference of roughly 70usd so what should I choose?

I like matx. It's easy to build smaller machines, but you've usually got at least one PCIe slot available for expansion needs. It also avoids the ITX tax. ATX is great, but a lot of them are built in an odd way, where populating all the m.2 will turn off all your PCIe slots, which sorta defeats the purpose of having the slots IMO.

Right now I'm just using a basic laptop, but when I do upgrade I want the best consumer-grade components on the market for gaming and video editing. I haven't upgraded yet because I'm not completely satisfied with the 5090's performance and the power cable being a fire hazard. The most powerful gaming CPU's AMD 9800x3d and 9950x3d lack QuickSync. That's why I think it's better to just wait for the 6090's release so I can see how it compares and determine if the higher price is worth the extra performance or if it makes more sense to settle for something cheaper. I'm hoping that Intel will release another flagship CPU that beats AMD's flagship not too long before or after the 6090's so I can pick a clear winner. AMD does not have QuickSync or something equivalent as far as I know. You may wonder why I care so much about QuickSync. Because I intend to spend a lot of time learning and using DaVinci Resolve. I want that to be a smooth experience when I finally spend the time and money building a system I've been holding off for so long. One of my concerns is that I get unlucky with the "silicon lottery" where components fail/die prematurely. I'm especially concerned with the more expensive parts. Can you conservatively estimate lifespan for the various component types assuming I have optimalized cooling? Speaking of cooling I think custom watercooling should be optimal, but I'm unsure if the extra price and hassle will be worth the potential increased longevity and performance. What are your thoughts?

Set a minor undervolt to the processors, and they'll run cooler. The factory-fused V/F tables for the processors are slightly overvolted.
The overvolts help some of the worst processor bins run stably out of the box.

24Gb (3GB) GDDR7 chips weren't readily available for a 24GB 5080 launch model.
NVIDIA was prioritizing those VRAM for workstation cards until memory supplies improved.

>Is this Nvidia's new marketing tactic?
NVIDIA's refresh cards are usually a reaction against Radeon's.
9070 non-XT has better performance with 16GB, so the 5070 gets a slightly better-binned chip with 18GB total VRAM.
9070 XT competes very well against the 5070 Ti, so it gets 24GB VRAM
5080 was initially planned with 24GB variants in mind.

From my simple google search of reddit answers, quicksync only had hevc 10 bit 4:2:2 decoding accerleration. The new nvidia rtx 5000 series gpus have that feature nowdays so I don't think it is important to get intel quicksync.

If you want fast scrubbing of the timeline you need: pcie 5.0 nvme and lots of system RAM.

CPU: Intel core 285k
Ram: 128 GB ddr5
Storage: 4TB WD SN8100

Now, depending on what effects you are doing to the video you may need a dedicated gpu.

High quality footage or renders are going to be in a lossless format that has massive bitrates so storage and ram are important.

Way I see it, it's entirely dependent on whether someone is after MAXIMUM FRAAAAMES and shit like the highest level raytracing, frame gen and upscaling shit, or if you want something that's more power efficient for wider setup scalability, still gets the job done quite well for basically anything you throw at it short of RT or games so badly optimized that they need the bestest upscaling ever. Or for people that chug 4K gaming like an energy drink and expect anything but the beefiest of the beef to keep up with no issue, and even then 9070 XT is nothing to scoff at. For the price value, MSRP or scaled up in comparison to the 5070 Ti, it's definitely down to preferences and user builds.
Plus, y'know, less fuss with NVIDIA drivers as of late which are too focused on AI with the 50-series forwards over proper performance upkeep.
>>
>>106542489
I gotta wonder did amd just hope that the industry wouldnt care about path tracing, like gamers would flat out reject the technology, games wouldnt implement it and the future was raster only?

rdna 3 was so far behind nvidia it was strange, or perhaps excused with amd focusing on other stuff and desktop gpus being an afterthought
