Linux offers several capabilities that are either impossible or significantly more difficult to achieve on macOS, primarily due to its open-source nature, modular design, and focus on user control. These include running on virtually any hardware, including very old or specialized systems, without vendor lock-in, extensive visual and functional customization of the desktop environment, and the ability to run the operating system from removable media on any compatible hardware. Linux also provides superior support for containerization, advanced system-level resource controls, and the ability to perform system upgrades without requiring a reboot.

Apple got rid of that shit back in 2019 and went back to scissor switches.

Always preferred the look of the ibook anyway, a shame the rubber base makes finding a good one now impossible. Powerbook just looks like a regular ass laptop, a holdover from the Sculley years.

- Avoid sucking crApple's diseased cock.
- Get work done.
- Easier to use OSs, like Ubuntu.
- Potentially be using hardware with far better warranty policy, or really good machines from Dell, Asus, or Lenovo that aren't very likely to crap out on you, or be running your software on a custom, cherrypicked rig that will last you a long time, and you'll have equal or greater performance for less money than whatever crApple toys.
- Tweak OS source code as needed or desired.
- More flexibility in what kinds of tools you can use and what kinds of problems you can fix or tasks you can tackle in hardware and software. (This is why Linux is always win for me. Windows, too.)

>Our Podman machine OS images for Macs are highly customized and derived from a Fedora CoreOS base image. The 6.13 kernel, which came into Fedora earlier this spring, has some new kernel structures added to it. When attempting to use Apple Rosetta with a 6.13 kernel, Rosetta is doing the equivalent of a segfault. This means if we released a machine image with anything above Linux 6.12, amd64 machine translation with Rosetta would not work for our users.

you want macos's modern virtualization.framework not older, low-level hypervisor.framework.
everyone but podman switched to virtualization.framework since virtualization.framework has Virtual I/O Device (VIRTIO) which makes shared filesystems between host and guest fast.

software that Just Works (usually... just like on macOS) that doesn't nickel&dime you
no fucking popups about random bullshit
nobody trying to upsell you on their shit-ass services
no endless screeching about updates, full of dark patterns to get you to agree
windows are actually square and not squircles with half an inch radius, and (whoa) they fucking snap to where you'd want them to without installing extra software
linux also allows you to run some crazy advanced software, like a music player with waveform seekbar, which just isn't possible on mac
