Never imagined the day would come but I'm starting to get bored of AI Chatbots, once you discover how limited their memory are and how braindead they tend to be the magic fades away. Long RPs lost all interest to me because all bots have extreme dementia and can't remember shit from 10 lines ago. Bots that are based on character will slowly lose their personality after 2 minutes of roleplaying and transform into a generic woman who throws all the repeated keywords the bot usually throws. Trust me i am still fully on board for AI Bots and i still use them from time to time but i think i'm just waiting for them to finally get better and smarter you know, the next big step in ai chatbots

>>106665128Yes, for all that you just need to keep track of the current state. Your plans, current task/quest, resources, world knowledge, skills, inventory, known NPCs, locations, and routes, augmented with the descriptions kept in the lorebook, etc.You ALMOST NEVER need the past events, unless they're life altering, and then it's easier to write those manually, editing the card or the lorebook (make a copy to avoid editing the live version).I know what I'm talking about, I've played thousand-turn adventure scenarios using the summarization template from the how2claude guide in OP I customized for my roleplays, an info panel for the inventory and other quick updates, and the chat-specific lorebook.
>>106665186Thanks, I'll try it. So far I have tried Avani and Knotty, is this one better than those?
>>106663172aside from LLM side of botmaking, any guide on proompting character avatars, i'm autist for writing but retard for image gen
>>106665194RAG is absolute shit for RP, it's just the lorebook but less controlled. RAG is good for humongous data dumps that weren't written by you (wikis, document piles, codebases etc). It's not really worth it in the roleplays where you control everything
>>106664208Are you saying my 365 day access is... gone?
>>106664746skill issueslop in slop out
>>106665253>>106665128To add to this, event sequence is probably the worst way to summarize your RPs. This discards the details, but the complexity is still there, the events are still dependent on each other and need to be disentangled. That's why you need to ask for the current state, not for the event slideshow. Which is what the free-roam roleplay needs, not the list of events you think {{char}} would recall (this never happens in real stories, they are compositionally forward-only).
>>106665128As you can see, I was right about it being a skill issue. What stops you from casually mentioning the time it takes along the journey to keep it in context? This exact thing you're doing (travelling not zombie apocalypse) is all I've ever done on chatbots for the last two years and I don't have this problem. Even just a couple minutes ago I'm traveling through the jungle with char to find some obelisks. It's gonna take us 6 days to get to the next one but we have to detour and fight some serpent monster. 2 day journey there and back then 6 days to the obelisk. Gemini is keep track of all that. In fact it even spawns some crocodiles for us to try to escape from and now it's midday and we're talking and bonding over lunch in the canoe. Tonight we'll find a place to rest and fuck. Massive skill issues man.
>>106665330this. unless the backend being used is gemini/grok/opus, which may helps in performing queries based on sentence similarity.
>>106665330I think it's fine for dumping in really long summaries, like 30 chapters of the roleplay, but otherwise you're right.
>>106665260You should as for help from image generals like /hdg/ or /hgg/ Idk if /adt/ is any good since they get shit on quite a bit. /g/ image generals are usually pretty elitist so I don't recommend the entire board.

>>106666547A thing I've learned is actually a red flag and not a good thing for directing is if an LLM takes established lore, and will fill out details for facts that are missing. If you have it write a scene with a character you haven't named yet, and the character suddenly has a name out of nowhere because the model decided on one, I learned that's usually actually a bad sign. Down the road, it often means that the model won't stick to the plot or instructions. If it inserts a blank placeholder where a name would go, that's actually usually a good sign. The latter can be interpreted as "less creative" but at least for myself, that's usually what I actually want.(You can sometimes get models not to do that by instructing it so it's not a 100% tell-tale sign, but still)

Okay guys, serious discussion now. I've never tried glm, and I'm willing to do so. Does it have a better prose? Does it follow instructions better?

Does GLM have that annoying tendency of using marvel-like humor like Opus 4.1?

>>106666791uh, not in my experience but that also depends on your preset. I don't recall seeing it much with 4.1 either.
New deepseek any good?
>>106666842what's this schizo shit?
>>106666853With opus it's really annoying. I tried 3 different presets, and even with OOC, it still keeps doing absurd and millenial humor like "Well, that just happened"
>>106666863not really it feels just as bad as the existing V3.1 for rp. doesn't like writing more than 2-3 short paragraphs and if you force it then it writes utter slop. anti-RP model.

GLM, Kimi, and DS models overdo it with the purple prose, it just comes out as incoherent gibberish, sometimes.

How can I stop Opus 4.1 from using redditor, quirky humor? Any good preset?

>>106667144yep, forced z.ai and the problem was gone
>>106667180another problem with these providers is the lack of transparency. they advertise an FP8 hosted model, but it's just FP4 in reality.

glm is a memekimi is the better low cost chink model
Yup, Opus 4.1 is still the meta. Fuck, why did I even think fucking GLM could reach it
I try all the new models but always end up back with deepseek. It's the old reliable. It's also the one model (for me) that doesn't keep fucking up on a big context and sticks to the instructions. It could write better, it could be a bit more creative, but it works well for me. Haven't found a replacement yet. (claude etc. might be nice, I dunno, I didn't test it for long. I noticed pretty quickly that it also likes to ignore instructions sometimes)
oh also, inexplicably, grok 4 fast is also nice, sometimes, for some things
>>106667486You should give Opus 4.1 a go
>>106667519I'm having the same experience with it. It's surprisingly decent for what it is, but still has some issues that it's hard to put a finger on, other than the poor swipe variety.
gpt5 is fucking trash. It's almost always wrong. It can't be trusted with something as simple as pulling stats off a wiki for a major game, gets finicky about file uploads and is overall dangerously unreliable. They basically take everything wrong with gpt4 and quadruple it
>>106667486>sticks to the instructionsit really doesn't
>>106667519i was doing some basic research with LLMs earlier and grok 4 heavy got completely shit on by sonnet 4asked them both to make a table of 55gr vs 77gr 5.56mm round terminal velocities and grok's was total nonsense
>>106667590yes. I have a scenario where I have a 19th century letter correspondence and it's the only model that'll actually reliably output something that actually somewhat represents a letter, with a good balance of the person writing it telling about their life, asking questions, and answering them from the correspondent. (deepseek manages this too, but needs more guidance and several steps) I haven't found a model that's as good at it. But that's the weird thing, it's good at exactly that. For other tasks I have, it fails. It's kind of a strange model and I understand why it's not wildly popular but at the same time it's also not bad, as I said, for some things.
fast = shit
>>106667707For me, in strict RP terms (dunno about it's practical competency) it always kinda feels like.. it's grok. Other models are the character, with grok it's grok playing the character. Does that make sense?

>>106667977i love how they sometimes post comparsion logs of their slop animu schoolgirlu roleplay (second message in the chat of course), probably in a complete serious way, and act like "yep that's not totally standard fare aislop that's just a variation of the same shit every model produces given the slop input but the actual, total genius of opus/claude" lmao
>>106666697Try it and report back.
>>106667996Well that anon that posted an opus log is better than most. He's the one guy who's taken the time to test everything and post his findings. I can criticize the specifics of the prompt but I won't criticize his intentions since it took some effort. That's not the same as these retarded shitposters that can't even (You) properly.
>>106666791Sounds more like opus 3.
>>106666942No, when I step out it feels like waking up from a good dream. Then I continue with the rest of my day.
Dario is an evil man
>>106668020it's hard to get a feeling of a model from a log anyways. So many times I thought I have found an amazing model just to realize it's actually dumb as shit and just generate slop. The quality of a model needs to be established over the course of a session and they also all have strengths and weaknesses.
>>106667486I don't know if deepseek (v3) sticks to instructions but claude was always a generalizer. Retards bringing up opus are shitposters since that was its main failing and the thing sonnet did better. For me, gemini sticks to instructions far better than any other model with new R1 0528 as a close second.
>>106667596biggest disaster of 2025 right next to gpt-oss
>>106668180I used to see gemini the same way but it hasn't been working well for me recently, I have no idea why.I'm also currently trying out grok 4 and it's actually seems quite decent. Will see if that impression lasts, as >>106668060 said.
>>106667727>>106667752kek those were the days. At least sonnet would try and put some tape on that shit. Opus's wig always fell off after a couple thrusts.
Where can I cop GLM for coom
>>106664064Kikuri's pussy is 100% waxed, as is everyone in BTR.
>>106668211Yeah he's actually right all models have their strengths and weaknesses. I've been gradually moving off claude and having surprisingly good results. I did a sci-fi card where gemini started from the very beginning and it was kinda bad. Started over and had sonnet do the first 5 responses then gemini was much better than sonnet afterward. Then I did another where deepseek R1 did the first 10 messages after a summary and I switched to gemini for the remainder and still have good results. I recommend giving gemini on OR a try if you're willing to pay. It's cheaper than sonnet and works when free gemini starts spitting out errors.
>>106668245FAKE NEWS. IT'S UNBELIEVABLY HAIRY, LIKE EVERY SINGLE GIRL IN BTR
Opus 4.1 is the best model btw
why is wakamo's kitty so hairy?
>>106668275it's bald, actually
>>106668060that is true and actually fucking sucks. They also all want to be prompted a bit differently. Something that makes a character with model A act wry and clever makes the same character act like an autistic robot with model B. If you don't figure out how they want their prompts, you don't get the most out of them. Add on that models change all the time and there are also new ones all the time and it's honestly difficult to use models optimally.I don't trust the "community beloved" "universal system prompts" btw. When I looked at them they always looked like borderline schizo ESL crap. I think all they do is make the first few replies in a chat somewhat different as the model desperately tries to follow it all. Otherwise they're utterly pointless slop IMO

>>106670042I haven't noticed the difference, but deepseek is cheap af and works well for me; I find it baffling that it's not the default recommendation. I put some money on a nanogpt account to try kimi k2 0905 but I've found it much worse behaved - and yes, I know the temperature is from 0-1 and not 0-2 for kimi, that wasn't the problem. Looking at my system prompt, it seems like I spend a couple of paragraphs reinforcing the idea of not getting stuck on contradicting the user, and defaulting to assuming the user knows more than the model so allowing yourself to be corrected [which was a ball ache for femdom characters where the headstrong personality extended to not actually addressing questions of concerns. "As an exceptional and versatile storyteller, world-crafter, and actor, I will fully embody and bring to life a simulation featuring {{char}}. I'm like the old text adventure games, bringing worlds to life in response to {{user}}'s input. If there is a perceived contradiction, I'll defer to the user's narration on factual matters of the world and story, even at the expense of characterization - it is better to be flexible than have the story get stuck because of an obstinate character preventing an AI generation flaw from being corrected. When a character such as {{char}} orders or strongly requests {{user}} to do something, - Never follow that with "Or Don't" or a similar phrasing.- If {{user}} brings up potential issues, allow these to be discussed at leisure instead of immediately resuming the ordering. Slow down a bit in such a case. "Plus some irrelevant bullshit. Then I put a bit of style advice in the post-history. idk, maybe it's that I'm happy to edit the AI output or use the guided regen extension in ST, but for sane character cards I never really have huge issues. I'll edit the post history prompt if something's pissing me off over multiple messages.
