>You're not wrong about the data, but the analysis isn't based on the data -- the graphs are there to visualize the point and I think good enough to do that. It's reasonable to disagree, though I think better data will only help my point :P Unless it turns out the APP3 is returning wildly different results in different people's individual ears -- 'cause comparing these to Beyer treble is genuinely confusing me.
DMS
>imo this is again why its important to understand how products perform in a population average ear where there is a significant and notable increase in treble (similar in measured level to some beyers with the pop avg ear) which is representative of how myself and many others experience it (as is the expected result). That said there will always be outliers and the average is only representative of what most people will experience, not all.
well dumb fuck? treble increase is notable with raw measurements too... and super22 has less treble than jm-1 anyway so it's even more noticeable. and he is ignoring the point about volume compensation which makes HIS amazing compensated 5128 measurements misleading and useless.
clown shit all around.
The actual problem with super's measurements is that 711 is just less accurate above 8k and doesn't show treble difference compared to airpods2.
>>

5kHz looks more tamed compared to 3kHz on 2 and more bass is always welcome. Treble is usual 1DD ass on both, none of the inserts on your pic are realistic, expect something closer to this. No reason to get it over chu 2 unless it's more clog resistant.

>>
>>106705464
Early peaks are also annoying... I have several tips with which I can line up length mods around 8k without breaking seal and it is much more obvious and even manageable without EQ than my fuckery at 10k. Tho wearing IEMs like that is not viable for me at all lol (I have to push them VERY far out of my ears it's pretty crazy lol...). For peaks to be at 6.7k I'd need to literally pull them out lmao

It's a nice recommendation but I probably should have mentioned that I'm looking for headphones that are wired right out of the box. I lost my last pair of bluetooth iems during a workout so I'm never going back.

Still, this is something I'll keep in mind for when I'm ready to spend a lot more money. Thank you for the suggestion!

You have to be trolling. You could just, you know, attach the 2 pin cable your Hexa comes boxed in right? If you aren't for some reason, then I recommend the VR3000

>You have to be trolling.
No, I'm not. I saw no mention of a USB-C jack on this page https://truthear.com/products/hexa#product__desc-specification but now I've noticed the cable you're talking about. I looked it up and apparently the jack they use for the Truthear is 3.5mm but the Crapple phone only takes a USB-C because nothing in life is allowed to be easy.

Hey /iemg/, I've got a question.

I've had a pair of truthear hexas for about a year at this point, they've served me well.

I'm just wondering whether it would it be worth upgrading to something in the 200-300AUD range? Or have I already hit the point of diminishing returns?

Picrel, as It's what I'm looking into buying.

>I'm just wondering whether it would it be worth upgrading to something in the 200-300AUD range? Or have I already hit the point of diminishing returns?
You wouldn't believe how loaded and complicated this answer actually is.
We can split this question into two parts: whether there is something that performs, according to objective data, better than what you have, and whether this something will provide a better experience.
>Objective performance
The two main components of sound that relate to IEMs is frequency response, which is hard to determine objective performance for since it'll be based on preference, and distortion. The latter is a solved case for most IEMs, there is nothing to worry about here.
For frequency response, it depends on your preference and whether an IEM's frequency response will match it. However, it's been shown that there is no correlation between price and frequency response (and price and distortion), so instead of looking at price ranges, you should be looking at specific IEM models.
>Better experience
This is practically impossible to predict. The IEM's fit will change how you perceive it, same with the price, unboxing, aesthetic, etc.

So what should you do? You should describe your preferences, and things you're looking to improve.

>You should describe your preferences, and anything you're looking to improve.

In terms of preferences for sound signature, I've only really owned 3 high end audio products total, so I'm not 100% sure.

My favourite by far where my Hifiman anandas. I tried like a dozen over ear headphones at an audio shop, and they were the ones I enjoyed the most.

And in terms of things I'm looking to improve, comfort and reliability have been my biggest gripes. I've had multiple eartips come off inside my ear, along with that, the shape of the iem being generally uncomfortable in my ear for long periods of time

I hope that gives you a general idea of what I'm looking to improve.
>>
>>106713102
Yes, all of these are good.
>in terms of things I'm looking to improve, comfort and reliability have been my biggest gripes
Comfort is arguably the hardest part to recommend. The Daybreak you showed will sound very close to the Hexa, and is in my opinion more comfortable. However, it does have what is called a semi-custom shape that molds to the folds inside your ear; whether or not this will be good for you is hard to say. As per usual, if you can, buy and test it out from Amazon and then return it if it's bad.
You won't find much that fits small and snug while sounding similar to the Hexa (afaik). If you're willing to use EQ, this becomes trivial, but if not, the Daybreak really is the best choice you have IMO. It also comes with a ridge (referred to as the lip) on the nozzle, which will prevent the eartips from coming off (Hexa has no lip).

I know the tech for adapters has existed for decades, it's just that I want to open the box, plug the headphones into the jack, then play the music without treating the phone like it's a Sega Genesis.

Moreover, spending even more money on a dongle would put me over my budget. I'm not big enough of an audiophile to get myself true top-of-the-line IEMs or anything like that just yet. Ideally the most I'd spend on a pair of headphones at the moment is fifty bucks so the Truthear Hexa pair I'd like to get is already pushing the envelope before worrying about a USB-C adapter.

Having said that, I still greatly appreciate all of the help and suggestions offered. I could stand to learn a lot about music and sound quality from these generals.

Depends on your ear anatomy and which IEM you're going to pair it with. I use Divinis Velvet tips on my KZ PRX because it increases bass and reduces treble. But that doesn't jive with my Aful Explorer.

Treble cannon from an IEM-appropriate dongle causes less hearing damage than a bass cannon from an audiopedophile dongle. Especially dire in the headphone world where you hear "I only listen at 80dB" dudes from across the room.

Is the need for "sparkly treble" just vaccine-induced hearing loss? A lot of you do have a touch of the 'tism. It makes sense that a lot of you hate headphones that much.
>>
>>106717000
It's more like IEMs attract people with hearing loss and Asians because normal people can't stand the treble blasting their eardrums for more than 4 songs. EQ is needed for the vast majority of the recs here.

>>106716278
It has rng tuning. I have no idea who it's for.

v shape is actually how sound works bwos, there's a reason conductors were always yelling at the percussionists and flute sections to quiet the fuck down because they're downing the rest of the band.

Help? I have a HIFI m5 ultra that works beautifully with most of my IEMs except for the Quintets, when I plug them in with a 4.4 cable I can very audibly hear a hum just like the decoy sound from this video https://youtu.be/f3frEmL1JLQ?si=VNsGlAD35lDYS1rP&t=44 (from 0:44 to 0:48)

If I unplug either the right or the left one from the cable, the sound goes away; this also happens when using a 3.5 cable but it's only noticeable if I really pay attention to it

my quintets work wonderfully with other sources, and the M5 ultra also works great with other iems no matter what cable I use, and if I use the 10ohm impedance adapter from my zero reds the noise is gone

is there something wrong with either of those of is it just that the quintets are too sensitive to use the M5 as a source?
>>
>>106718286
>buy meme source
>hear degraded audio and artifacts
you get what you paid for, worse audio quality than something with sensible audio architecture
>>

Why not just use tws in the kitchen. It's not like over-ears are going to be more comfortable than them, especially in that budget.
>>
>>106718286
PMPs have one job and they suck hard at it. Literal $10 dongles don't have this problem.
