I'm deciding between two assembled pcs, the first with a 5080 16gb (around 3000 dollars), the other with a 5070ti 16gb(around 2200).
Is the nearly 800 dollars difference worth the actual performance difference or not? Sorta of a noob question, I know.
I'd mostly use the PC to work, gaming (rdr2, cyberpunk, Monster hunter world) and the occasional AI image gen.I'm not saying I'd like photorealism but for what I'm paying I'd like to be in the very high end of graphics
>>
>>106706505
The performance difference doesn't justify the $800 premium. get the 5070 Ti.

Hello guys, am from third world country, I'm planning to have this PC based on my budget.
- AMD Ryzen 5 5500GT
- MSI B550M A Pro
- Radeon RX 6500 XT 4 GB
- Kingston HyperX Fury DDR4 3200 mhz 16 Gb (2x8)
- Corsair CV450 80+ Bronze
- Crucial MX500 SSD 1 TB
- Random case based on what's left on my budget, or i will find some boring office case.
How's my Build? this build could cost me around ~350 USD. most of them are used except power supply and storage.
>>
>>106706580
5500GT will gimp the everliving fuck out of a 6500XT with its PCIe 3.0 only and cut down lanes, literally like -50% performance

What video cards will most likely last the longest in years?

I have had an Nvidia 1060 last over 8 years. I would like my next one to do last a similar length of time.
>>
>>106706638
the most powerful card with the most amount of vram and the latest features, so the RTX 5090
>>
>>106706638
You should probably target at least the 9070 XT or 5070 Ti, but expecting 8 years out of them is a stretch.
5 years is almost a guarantee with those cards since the next cross-generation (PS5 & PS6) games should last until 2030.

What's a good compromise between lasting long and being budget friendly then?

4090 and 5090 are both on TSMC’s 4NP node. Next gen GPUs will be in 2-3nm processes and will obviously come with large performance increases, as new nodes always do.
>>
>>106706669
PS5 to ps6 likely to be a smaller jump than ps4 to ps5 and any earlier consoles. Honestly what I would find most likely is like something in the ps5 pro ballpark but with actual rt performance and upscaler.
Cross gen will almost certainly drag on forever like the last one.
Just don't buy an 8gb gpu and you're fine. 5060ti or 5070 should be good to go for a long time. If you want amd wait another gen so you're not cucked like 3 years later because your gpu doesn't support everything games want you to have.

To be fair still haven't upgraded the 3600 and HDDs, and I'm not upgrading HDDs until they make cheap, large SSDs. No, 500GB - 1TB drives on rigs that usually have one to three slots aren't usable for modern gayming or AI. Seems like chink PCIe expansion cards with like 4 NVMe slots are the solution but probably gen 3 speeds desu.
Abolish IP so fitgirl can compress games officially

>>
>>106707301
Nta but I would have bought a 16 core x3d chip instead of a 9800x3d if it was single ccx
>>
>>106707238
it's really just for that one specific encode. The speeds at lower res are good enough, even at 8k with av1 it's not bad encode speed.
If this video works out well, I probbaly want to do 2-3 more and the extra encode time on the 8 core is too much to bear.
>>
>>106707324
why does it matter? the second CCX isn't even active in games
i know AMD's approach to scheduling on the 9950X3D is kinda retarded but it's still better than cutting your core count in half
and even if they move to a 12C CCX next generation there's gonna be a 24C chip and that's still going to be the best
>>
>>106707357
That's 100% the problem. Having half your cores turned off effectively turns it into an 8 core in games and you won't benefit from the L3 cache and thread scaling on the second ccx. I cannot justify spending extra on a 2 ccx CPU for it to become an 8 core cpu when gaming.
>>
>>106707301
because it IS the best, and there's loads of games, or at least moments in time, within said games, where even at 4k and gpu-capped, a top-end cpu will provide noticeable performance uplift.

Anyone who disputes this and spergs about benchmarks is a poorfag who hasn't ever had a top-end cpu experience before.

i wouldn't really care but it is $700 so i can understand why you would want everything to be perfect
i don't know if there's a way to coax windows into preferring the first CCX but leaving the second one active
that would be the ideal approach (you can do this on linux)

It's called avoiding programs that aren't whitelisted by the multiplayer game devs; it's not about Reflex.
You are too brain-rotted to differentiate this.
And you don't need Reflex to reduce system latency, it's just an easy way for normies.
If you're downloading & utilizing RTSS or SpecialK in multiplayer games, you're not a normie.

I'm the source. I have a 5070, at stock it's not hitting the default power limit outside of 3dmark. Usually would be more like 200/210ish.
With my undervolt I'm usually at 100-ish watts, Full load in games it's 150ish. This is -6% from stock performance
>slower
Only negligibly outside of edge cases in raster. I can find other edge cases where the 5070 would be nearly 2x faster too...

>And no, i use a 9950x3d and love it, but its objectively not the number 1 at gaming, the 9800x3d is
techtuber graphs don't mean anything
if you're as smart as you claim you should be able to figure out how to make it run faster than a 9800X3D in any game

I don't get this kind of argument. If you're smart enough to tune a 9950x3d to beat a 9800x3d, you'd be smart enough to tune a 9800x3d to beat a tuned 9950x3d

I reduced the coil whine on my astral by switching from the adapter to the 12V cable. Some anon with the white version also pointed out that the newer ones seem to be revised allowing you to control three fans instead of the original only having two.

I think the gpc psus are supposed to be trash, not 100% sure though.
Either way I'd say in general if your psu is out of warranty it's time for a replacement, $50-200 (for your 5060 build probably on the lower end of that) is worth for not having to worry about a cable catching on fire or the thing going pop and killing the gpu.

Zen 6 is highly anticipated because it's rumored to be upgrading the I/O Die (including IMC), and this die will be closer to the CCDs (reducing interconnect instabilities/bottleneck).

More bigger fans. Faster spin means more noise. Biggest cpu cooler that fits in the case.

too long. Get a shorter one if you're going to be running high res high refresh.
>>
>>106710120
you can run 8000+ MT/s but that means the infinity fabric becomes decoupled and you incur a latency penalty. its a balance between bandwidth and latency.
>>
>>106710222
New case?
Either some obstruction, a bad motor, or maybe impeller warping over time.
Identify the specific fan that's causing the noise, and start an RMA if it's a relatively new one.

IF/FCLK is always decoupled from UCLK/IMC on AM5.
What you most likely meant is running memory controller with 1:2 ratio. So at 8000MT/s you are running 4000MHz MCLK and 2000MHz UCLK.

If you are considering an AMD 9000 series GPU because you have been influenced by Reddit, Twitter or a wealthy tech YouTuber, it’s worth understanding AMD’s track record. While their GPUs are often great at beating cherry-picked benchmarks, they normally fall short in real-world gaming performance. Every year, an army of influencers target first-time buyers declaring AMD a godsend for PC gamers. Every year a small percentage of users get duped. Since almost all PC gamers use Steam, the February 2025 Steam statistics are relevant: AMD’s combined market share for discrete 5000/6000/7000 series GPUs is 3%. Meanwhile, Nvidia’s 4060 alone has 9% market share. This reality starkly contrasts with influencer hype. The reason is simple: influencers rarely play games and gamers rarely buy AMD GPUs. Experienced gamers know all too well that high average fps are worthless when they are accompanied with stutters, random crashes, black screens, excessive noise and a limited feature set. It’s notable that AMD’s GPUs have not historically had these problems in consoles because, unlike PCs, consoles operate in a closed environment which is less dependent on robust drivers. Using influencers for hardware performance data is less effective than using foxes to babysit chickens. [Mar '25 GPUPro]

I think one of AMD's recent display drivers added an FSR4 override feature. It works on games with FSR 3.1 support.
https://gpuopen.com/news/amd-fsr4-over-85-games/

It's limited than Optiscaler's coverage because the mod can route through DLSS.

Someone mentioned he got his 5070 down to 150Watts power consumption.

However the 9070 can be also tweaked and there were reports of someone getting it down to 170Watts while only losing 10% performance.

I'm struggling to decode 2160p h265 or even lower with my htpc, especially when also streaming it on discord at the same time. Even with mpv and heavily limited config. I suspect the main culprit is the GTX 650, but the i5 something with 3.2ghz is also getting a bit dated. I'm consider replacing it with b580, rx 9060 or rtx 5060. Will intel or amd give me all kinds of driver issues and incompatibilities?
