I've been wondering, right now we are in the midst of a bubble of insane proportions centered around AI shit that has failed to actually provide any tangible profit back to the companies financing it. Once it bursts hundreds of thousands of high tier nvidia GPUs will flood the market at low low prices, a 1000x scale up of the ethereum bust. Would buying a 5090 from some defunct Chinese datacenter that wouldve seen constant 24/7 action generating sloppa even be worth the trouble? Most of them wont work but you'll probably be able to get them by the crate. All those crazy high end intel and AMD CPUs with 40+ cores will also suffer the same fate.

Hi quick question, I built my first PC recently and really wanted to test the visuals in some games, but i only have my old 60hz 1080p monitor since im waiting for cyber monday or black friday for a good deal on certain things.I was wondering if playing those games in 1080p would ruin the experience so much that i should rather wait and play indie/old titles until then, or is the difference between 1080p and 1440p not big enough to justify that?As far as im aware, the other factors arent that important when it comes to monitors unless you compare OLED to non-OLED (and maybe power consumption)
Upgrade advice pls, I want to switch to 1440p and play aaa games on high settings with at least a stable 90/100 fpsbudget is €1000, I live in Germany>motherboardMSI X570-A PRO>cpuRyzen 7 3700X>gpuRTX 2080 SuperAlso my pc gets quite loud and hot when playing demanding games, any cooler recommendations that are quiet?
>Still on my Ryzen 5 2600, GTX 1080, 16GB RAM>Monitor is old af, 1200p with extra thick bezelI want to upgrade to 1440p 144Hz monitor, will i regret it?I don't play modern slops, and youtube said my GPU will play any games before 2020 at 1440p 60fps (good enough for me)
>>1066988705070/ti or 9070/xtif the 5700x3d was still available at reasonable prices I would say get that but its not so good cpu options short of replacing everything are limitedyou can get a dual tower thermalright cooler that you can reuse though, probably will be a lot quieter than whatever you have right now
>>106698870The current AAA game scene is a mess of unoptimized garbage so only going all out with a 4090/5080/5090 will guarantee stable 100 FPS even at 1440p for a lot of them, but for reasonably well optimized games like battlefield 6 then the 9070xt and the 5070ti will both achieve that and are generally the only cards that fit into budget. So, get a B650 or B850 motherboard with a PCIe5.0x16 slot, get a ryzen 7800x3d, its about 8% slower than the 9800x3d but you can find it for about 300€ in europe compared to 400-450 for the 9800x3d and then either the 9070xt or the 5070ti. From what ive seen the 9070xt goes for about 650€ in most of the EU, no idea about the 5070ti. You could also get a 9070 non XT to save on 50€, its got a few less cores but can be slightly overclocked and undervolted to achieve similar performance. Also if you get the XT version you should undervolt and adjust fans, you can get -100watts of power consumption and lowered sound for about 5% performance drop
>>106699001forgot to add, you'll need DDR5 memory for the AM5 socket CPUs, 2x16 is enough but make sure to get 6000Mhz and CL30 latency, best performance for the CPUs of the socket and can be found for about 100€. If you want to future proof the build you could splurge extra on getting 2x24 or 2x32 for even more ram but generally 32 gigs are enough atm, just beware that we live in retarded times were adding two more ram sticks of the same make and model will most likely cause the speed to drop from 6000 Mhz to 5000 or less
>>106698789i think you're delusional, it can all be repurposed for data centers, we will always need more data centers and server-hardware. And thats assuming AI is going to pop like a bubble, because it wont, it'll pivot at worst.

>>106699076Anon, these retard companies have spent more than a trillion dollars in infrastructure and electricity costs to produce a whole lot of google scraping garbage, shitty slop and empty promises. For the moment they are being held alive by more and more idiots buying in but what happens when people realise that no one is actually making any real money from this shit? Typically bubbles burst due to some external economic shakeup forcing investors to reevaluate their decisions, the dotcom bubble burst because the Jap economy shat itself in 2000 and that caused investors to panic, the 2007 housing bubble burst because people couldn't pay overinflated mortgages and that in turn led to stock flight and the 2008 crisis. Now I suppose South Korea or Taiwan getting rocked by anything would lead tot eh AI bubble collapsing. For the end consumer an AI bubble burst would be really good so long as TSMC and memory manufacturers like Samsung dont get fucked btw, since AMD and nvidia would go back to relying on the enthusiast market for a large share of their profits so they'd be forced to turn down prices. If TSMC or the memory manufacturers go under though we are fucked.

>>106702227An actual reddit formatted post? In my general? For the 40 series comparisons, you just can't do that unless your shop of choice has 4070 Supers still in stock. They are out of production precisely they are on the same node as the 50 series, so prices and availability can be not any better. You must take a look at the pricetags before settling for a 40 series if that is what you are currently looking at.With your card selection its hard to say because your range is fairly large in the midrange segment. Any of them will be a very large upgrade to your 1070. As long as you have 16GB it will be fine. You will always be using upscaling in the current year, it does not matter what you pick. Do also double check if your 9060 XT comparison to the 5060 Ti is an 8GB or 16GB model. The latter is slightly more powerful and of course has Nvidia's better upscaling, but maybe not 70 euros (+20%) much.>Why the fuck is it above the MSRP?Because the MSRP was fake. >>106704635hell yeah dude
>>106704401well they are dropping in here (russia) i can buy a gigabyte aorus 9070xt for 61k rubles in moscow (730 USD)
>>106702575a friend of mine had a similar issue with his b650 , after some thinking we switched the places of rams and it got fixed by itself , try it out
>>106704702sign MOD contract
>>106704401They seem to have dropped to MSRP +50€ range in most of europe, the cheapest i can find in Greece is the power color reaper at 630€, while theres a bunch of other models going for 650€. The 9060xt 16Gb models have fallen to MSRP with most being at 350-370€, cheapest three fan model is the gigabyte one at 370€, nitro plus remains the most expensive at 400€. The 8Gb versions are typically at 290€, not worth it though
>>106704636If you are willing to wait till the super lineup comes out to see if the 5070ti will drop in price then you might as well, RDNA4 prices arent going to go up and are trending to drop to MSRP levels now. As for if they are still being produced, maybe?. When the 9070 first shipped AMD was surprised by the actual demand for it in the market and upped production causing prices to begin falling across the board, plus they recently launched a 9060 non-xt model made from discarded wafers which means that production is either still active for RDNA4 or finishing so that they can gear up for UDNA which will likely be openly announced some time next year. Best thing to do is check in on the prices of 9070/xt and 5070ti weekly till the super models come out
>>106704792I can wait. My little 6750xt is still doing ok. 9070 is at the top of my budget so if it is still be around when supers drops I might hold out until then.
Which one /pcbg/?
Ended up getting a 9070xt, feels pretty good so far. Never had an AMD card before though so the Adrenalin stuff seems like it’ll take getting used to
>>106705023Nitro+ > Pure > PulsePure for budget, pulse is the worst model (still fine though)
>>106703414I tried the BIOS switch, stability seems to be good now, thanks anon.
>>106705031If you're on AMD do this hack for better colors. If you're on Nvidia/Intel you're just fucked with worse colors no matter what unless you use custom ICC.
>>106705056What did the BIOS change? If all it did was change the power or clock then your psu is at fault.
Does AMD have a proper equivalent to Nvidia reflex nowadays?I use it with my 4070 and it's the only thing keeping me, I heard there's this antilag thing that got some people banned, did they fix that shit?
>>106705048Might actually go for the Nitro+, fuck itI heard they use PTM7950 nowadays, saves me some trouble
>>106705092Antilag1/Antilag 2. Works in all games.
>>106705092Nvidia Reflex got people banned in PSO2 and Sega never reversed it.
>>106705092Treat it same as Optiscaler/Proton/Reshade. It works for all games but not all games will be happy because they're gay about it
>>106705031You might want to play with power limit and core voltage. The XT's power limit is a bit past the efficiency curve so hitting it with some negative power limit and then undervolting can be good. Depending on how much undervolt is stable, you can get stock PL performance or higher.Or, you could leave the power limit alone and just undervolt.
>>106705092Does Nvidia have a proper equivalent Windows or Linux drivers yet that doesn't crash or stutter in recent games or old games?
>>106705117>>106705124>>106705128I see.I'm asking because this generally is a feature that's more beneficial on competitive games than anything single player. I was gonna ask about RTX HDR, but honestly these days I'm using more and more of those RenoDX mods instead of relying on that.
>>106705103all the sapphire cards have PTM7950, the main difference between them is the construction with the Nitro + being the toughest built, at the same time the other ones aren't flimsy or weak by any means. Afaik the nitro+ uses the 12 pin 12VHPWR connector fo supply while the pulse and pure use 3 8/6+2 pin connectors so make sure your PSU is compatible. Also the Nitro+ comes with a 90Mhz higher clock boost than the pulse but that stuff is easy to control through radeon adrenaline
>>106705068It changes the power draw of the card and the clock speed. I tried it with 2 different PSUs. It's a PowerColor Hellhound 16 GB. Setting it from the OC BIOS to the "silent" BIOS seems have it running stable for some reason.
>>106705170hmm, if the PSUs both work well then either the OC BIOS is fucked or the card gets fucked when drawing full power. Either way consider reaching out to customer support to see if you are eligible for RMA. Just make sure that the 8 pin connectors of the PSUs can actually supply at least 200 watts, the 9060xt caps at 175watts but its good to be a bit above. If you dont want to bother with RMA shit then maybe try running the OC BIOS with a -50mA undervolt and -20% power limit in radeon adrenaline settings, might also have to limit the core clock speed to 2900-2950mhz. Of course, you could just stick to the silent BIOS if it just werks :)
>>106705168>Afaik the nitro+ uses the 12 pin 12VHPWR connector fo supply while the pulse and pure use 3 8/6+2 pin connectors so make sure your PSU is compatibleYep, RM850x shift (bit pointless because there's barely any cable mess under the PSU shroud to even bother with the side connectors but I found it for cheap). All that ever worries me is thermals and noise.
>>106705170How did you connect the GPU to the PSU? Any daisy chained cables?
>>106705240People have been very successfully undervolting their 9070XTs to go from 320 watts at max to 220 watts plus lower fan speeds (thus less wear and noise) and only lose 5-10 frames at very high settings in 1440p and 4k
>>106705151every major game has both. single player and multiplayer. if it lacks one then it can be added in same as fsr/dlss.
>>106705208It's still eligible for RMA, might have to send it in>>106705244Just a straight 8-pin to 8-pin PCI-E cable with both power suppliesThe power supplies that I tested it with are an MSI MAG A750GL and my old EVGA G3 1000 from a different build
>>106703241I've seen some much bullshit out of those ai shorts, I'd never trust them with technical stuff.
>>106705170>spec sheet is 3311mhz boost clockso either the oc bios is fucked, or adrenalin set the max clock way above that by default or is a shit bin not matching the advertised clock which you are better off rma it
>>106705287only good part about the AI summary is that it typically links whatever forums it scalped its info from so if theres some relevant claim you can go to the source ans determine if its bullshit

>>106705151Watch out for brand warring faggots like this guy >>106705124 PSO2 doesn't even support NVIDIA Reflex.Reflex requires game developers to integrate it because it alters the game's core rendering code.https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/technologies/reflex/supported-products/
>>106705893RTSS / Special K adds Reflex to any game and they banned people for using either.
>>106699892i bought an LED-strip one off ebay for like 10 bucks, pretty good even if the colours are slightly off. The whole thing glows, only drawback is that its not easy to hide the power cord from it to the mobo lol.
>>106705942Because you're forcing unofficially supported features in a multiplayer game.Fuck around and find out.You can manually set a lower frame rate to get the latency improvement provided by Reflex without getting banned.

>>106702199lol thanks, I too enjoy doing endless researchDidn't Intel come up with AVX-512 in the first place, then later gimp it or remove it from their CPUs? Disgraceful.Don't know if I need it right now, but in the future it'll probably be necessary. As far as GPU driver issues, I'm on linux so definitely going to be an issue. I was thinking I'd start with just the iGPU since I'm not doing anything particularly graphics intensive, and then down the line add a midrange card if I need it. But who the hell knows what will work. Nvidia notoriously has issues, though they've worked for me most of the time for decades, and from what I've read it's not all sunshine and rainbows on the AMD side either, and then there's Intel ARC... All this had me almost tempted to buy a Mac, but the ongoing enshittification of Mac OS, the non-upgradibility, and the usurious prices for RAM and SSD upgrades, and the lack of a plan b for when they end support have mostly dissuaded me. On the other hand, audio stuff just fukken works.
>>106706413Shit that reminds me I'm probably going to need to figure out motherboards, not something I've ever given much thought to, but no sense getting quality components and putting them in a cheap, buggy, pile of shit.
