The history of digital audio:
>sony uses 44/16 pcm for their vhs tape recorders and later CD
>people realize running dac chips at a higher frequency sounds smoother and that 44/16 is a compromise
>sigma-delta chips oversample using 1bit cuz less computationally intensive and lower power in spec sheets, new chips every year
>sacd was going to be 96khz
>pcm chips are on their way out
>because oversampling is close enough to highres, sacd instead uses/develops DSD (direct stream digital) to bypass oversampling in the oversampling chips by having the format be the same 1bit oversampled signal
>MSB pipes pcm into resistors, sells for $3000, nobody else figures this out for 15 years
>people figure out how to pipe 1bit/sigmadelta/DSD into resistors
>>
>Etymotic ER2XR (Neutral) - $140
IMPORTANT : do NOT recommend this shit. I got memed, and they're disgusting. The highs are muddy, voices are are veiled and there's barely any detail above the bass. Avoid them like AIDS.

>>106746621
This narrative twists real milestones into a DSD/R-2R savior story, ignoring collaborations, physics, and market reality. Digital audio's "compromises" were smart engineering, not sins. If you're after "smoothness," a modern ΔΣ or NOS R-2R crushes CD spec without the hype.

proof?
It would be the easiest thing to prove that it exists by using headpos which were not "pre burned in" yet nobody has done it ever.
And again even if burn in existed why the fuck would it always change the sound for the better? It's all wishful thinking.

It is funny how he needs to repeat that measurements are compensated for "pop average ear" because it is not written anywhere.
He could show exact same graphs with exact same preference bounds but RAW and it would not change a thing. Having a reference point is important yes. But compensation? It ads almost nothing.
Like he says "raw target over raw measurement and it doesn't tell much"... but there's literally no difference...

Thank you DMS very cool. And it's not even limited 711, we know 5128 DF is brighter than average and will inevitably change in the future. For IEMs you could immediately slap a new target in and use it since they bypass the pinna, for headphones you'd have to re-measure them with a new pinna - so maybe it makes sense to compensate headphones but keep that shit out of the IEM space.

Gate got removed from the OP? It's definitely grown on me.
It seemed to survive getting submerged in pool water quite nicely.
I love the cable and the volume consistency.
I definitely like it better than the Q1 pro. Any single DD options with a similar tonality? I've been looking at the Celest Wyvern products.

Tanchjim Bunny 3.5mm, is it much worse than the DSP version with USB-C?

I am using it mainly on my desktop PC. And I am a bit critical about USB as well as connection, introduces lag.

DSP just has built-in EQ. If your PC's sound card doesn't hiss with them and you're EQing then it's the same thing.

You suppose to EQ Q1 pro.
try this 2 filters for starters

I mean shit is obviously too bright no matter what. But lowering it further should be done by ear. Simple tilt won't help with length modes and higher frequency treble peaks.
