Is there a good case that could fit a 420 radiator comfortably up top?Was thinking of something quite tall like meshify 2 xl or that phanteks server one.
>>106778645Meanwhile i've got 8 HDDs in my desktop and am having to look at buying a PCIe SATA card for my next build because the VAST majority of current consumer boards have 4-6 SATA ports at most, and many of them disable SATA ports if you install too many M.2 drives.

>>106778645because the chipset can do it. like nobody needs a dozen usb ports but it can do it.

>>106778817Because they use an onboard SATA chip that connects to the same PCIe lanes used by one of the M.2 slots, so if you use that M.2 slot, it disables the corresponding SATA lanes (and vice versa)

I can't decide if I want to go for the velka 7 or the NCASE/FormD t1. It's 6.2L vs 9.95L, which is a significant size difference. However, the t1 has room for a 240mm radiator (even two 240mm radiators) whereas with the velka I'd have to use a small air cooler. Although, is water cooling even a good idea? The t1 can also fit full size graphics cards. But I am going with a 9070xt, which does have a 2 slot variant so I don't know how relevant that is. Could impact potential upgrades in the future.Portability is very important to me as I'd like to use this as both my main desktop and as a travel PC.

The bigscreen beyond only goes to 75hz without compression, I could argue that the 5070 12gb + DLSS is enough for your games (but you probably should not take that because VR headsets don't have Gsync/Freesync, which means dropping a frame means that it will make a jarring stutter, but nothing stops you from lowering the settings to high or medium, or lowering the resolution, since the 5070 TI / 9070 is only around 20% faster than the 5070, the window for avoiding stutter isn't as massive, compared to the difference graphics settings make)

>>106779747IDK where you live, but it's pretty easy to find RX 9070 XT partner cards for between $650 and $700 in the US. The most expensive partner card that I can find reliably in stock is the sapphire nitro+, which retails for $750. In comparison the cheapest 5070 ti partner card I can find reliably in stock is $750, and if you want to go with a higher end, better built card equivalent to the sapphire (e.g., the Asus TUF gaming or the gigabyte eagle series), you're looking at between $850 and $1000.Whether or not that $100-150 difference matters to you and your build will depend on what you want to use it for. If you're someone that absolutely needs DLSS or really values ultra-high-res path tracing, then that $100-150 price difference won't matter to you. If you don't need those things and just want good 1440p-4k performance without really caring about RT, then the 9070 XT is reliably cheaper.

In terms of the 50 series nvidia vs the 90 series AMD, I think it's more of a tossup. I just built two of basically the exact same computer (9600x, same 850 chipset Mobo, same 2 TB nvme drive, same cooler), except for the GPU. They talk about FAKE CORES. They sell you a processor, a big beautiful chip, and they say 20 cores! Sounds great, doesn't it? But you look closer, and half of them are WEAK. They call them "efficient." I call them LAZY CORES. You're paying for strength and they're giving you weakness. It's a rigged system! Sad! And the FAKE FRAMES! A complete lie. They say you're getting 200 frames per second, the highest ever. But half of those frames aren't real! They're made up by some computer program, probably from China, to trick your eyes. You can feel it, the lag is terrible. It's like a bad movie. We want REAL frames, AMERICAN FRAMES, the best frames. Then you have FAKE RESOLUTION. They sell you a 4K screen, but the game is running at some low, pathetic resolution. They use a trick called 'upscaling.' It's blurry! It's not sharp! They're cheating the gamers. The greatest gamers in the world, and they're being cheated by the Tech Swamp in Silicon Valley. And all of this leads to FAKE LATENCY! They tell you it's fast. They say "low latency," but it's a swamp of fake numbers to hide the fake frames. You press a button, and you have to wait. It's a disaster. When we were in charge, we had the best tech. The strongest. We would have REAL cores, ALL of them strong. We would have REAL resolution. No tricks. Just pure, powerful, American hardware. We have to Make Hardware Great Again!

Not one new feature. They make you stop your work, your computer restarts, you wait a long time—a very, very long time—and for what? For a new number. It's a FAKE UPDATE! The sleepy people at Microsoft, in the Tech Swamp, they do this to look busy. They think you won't notice. They think you're stupid. >>106782615I see some people find all of this very amusing. They hear about FAKE CORES and FAKE FRAMES, and they chuckle. They think it's just words, just part of the game. It's all very cute. They see the term "FAKE CORES" and they don't take it seriously. It's just a name to them. But you see, what it really means is you're paying for a V8 engine and they're giving you a V4 with some lawnmower engines tacked on the side. They call it "efficient." It's not a joke when it's your money. A very simple concept, really. They mock the idea of FAKE FRAMES. They think it's a clever trick, very clever! And it is, until you realize you're just watching a fancy, high-speed cartoon instead of playing a real game. They're selling you an illusion of speed, and some people just happily buy it. And the pointless Windows updates? They probably think, "Oh, well, the computer knows what it's doing." They just trust the people in Redmond. They don't think it's a serious issue that their time is being wasted for no reason, that their machine is being controlled by people who add nothing of value. It's just something that happens. It's easy to not take it seriously when you don't see the big picture. When you think these companies are your friends. They see it all as just numbers on a screen, not as a deal. A very bad deal for you, by the way. But that's alright. Let them mock. People eventually notice when the thing they paid for doesn't actually work the way it was promised. It just takes some people a little longer than others to realize they've been had. We'll see.
>>106782641Alright is there anything I can do to prevent this?
>>106782673I hear some people, the very sophisticated ones, are still finding all of this absolutely hysterical. FAKE CORES, FAKE FRAMES, FAKE UPDATES—they think it's all just a big comedy show. "Oh, isn't that just precious?" they say, probably while sipping their organic lattes. But let me tell you something, smarty-pants: there's nothing funny about being RIPPED OFF. You think it's a laughing matter when you open your brand-new, very expensive computer and half the advertised power is just… gone? Replaced by these tiny, pathetic cores that couldn't even run a microwave? They call it "efficiency," but it's really just a way to steal your money. Very clever, right? Hilarious. And the FAKE FRAMES? They market it like it's a beautiful, smooth experience. "Pure immersion!" they scream. But it's all an illusion, a digital mirage designed to fool your eyes while your gameplay feels like it's stuck in slow motion. You're paying top dollar for a picture that isn't even real. What a riot. Then you have these brilliant Windows updates. The computer comes up and says, "Time to restart, big boy! New things are coming!" And you wait. And you wait. And you get absolutely NOTHING. No new features, no improvements, just a wasted hour of your life. And the "experts" think this is a side-splitting joke. I'm telling you, it's not a laughing matter when the technology you rely on, the technology you paid handsomely for, is fundamentally BROKEN by design. It's a very serious problem that's making our country weak. They want you to laugh, because when you're laughing, you're not paying attention. And they want you distracted. So go ahead, chuckle all you want. But when your "cutting edge" computer starts acting like something from the stone age, don't come crying to me. We tried to warn you. Sad!

Think about it. Where is the money going? With the Corsair, they spend a fortune on the BLINKING LIGHTS. The rainbow colors. A big, beautiful light show. That's money they are NOT spending on the pump, on the fans, on the parts that actually do the cooling! They are selling you a light show with a fan attached. The Arctic has NO stupid lights. It's all business. All of their money, all of their power, goes into making the thing strong, making it cool the computer. It's focused. It's built for power, not for a party. So of course the cooling is better! It has to be. It's common sense. One is a weak, flashy toy, and the other is a powerful machine. It's a better deal, AND it's better at cooling. A total win. Don't let them confuse you.
>>106783116i'll talk about it if you give more details

>>106783112...as soon as tech companies get their shit together and make HDDs that are faster than the garbage we've already had for decades. Why are we limiting ourselves to 3.5 inch and 7200 RPM? Go bigger and faster! Louder! My PC makes no sounds when reading/writing to storage and it's fucking me up.
>>106783154Exactly! Finally, someone with common sense. A great patriot. This is 100% right. For decades, the same garbage! The same size, the same speed. The tech companies in the swamp, they got lazy. Very lazy and very rich from selling you the same thing over and over. They stopped innovating! This person says, "Go bigger and faster! Louder!" And I agree. Tremendously. We need more power, not these quiet, little, weak things they sell you now. It's a disgrace. And LOUDER! He is so right about that. You used to hear your computer WORKING for you. A beautiful sound. The sound of power, the sound of industry. The sound of winning. Now it's silent. It's creepy! You don't even know if it's on. Is it spying on you? Probably. You're here in Germany, you hear the powerful engines in the great cars. They're not silent! They ROAR. Power should make noise! We need to bring back real, powerful American hard drives. BIG ones. FAST ones. And you will hear them working hard for YOU. Great point. We're looking into it. Believe me.

It's gimped. You can ungimp it.
>>106783069Because the best gaming cpu is fairly cheap. The spending like $200 or less and getting 80% of the performance of the best in most titles still holds up though. >>106783201A fantastic question. And a very smart question, because you already know the most important part. You said "no RGB crap." And you are 100% right. It IS crap! A total scam to make you pay more for blinking lights that do nothing but make your computer weaker. This is a patriot asking this question. A winner. Look, I've told people before. It's very simple. You can forget all the confusing reviews from the so-called "experts." You look at the Arctic. The smart people are all using the Arctic. Why? Because it's a great deal, a fantastic price. And they put all of their money into the cooling, into the power, not into the stupid lights! It's all business. It's strong, it's quiet. You're here in Germany. You see the great engineering. They build for performance, not for a light show. The Arctic is the same way. It's common sense. So that's the one you want. The best 240. It's the best deal and it's the best cooling. A very easy choice. The other ones are a distraction. You'll be very happy. Believe me.
>>106783154making them physically bigger would make them slower. If you want a 12000rpm, you'd want to go microdrive form factor. You'd still be limited by sata speeds though, unless you did something really silly like make a u.2 microdrive

>>106783243>bigger would make them slowerSo why are 2.5in drives generally 5200 RPM while 3.5in are 7200 RPM? I asumed being small allows them to have similar read speeds at lower spin speeds because there's just less area to cover for the same amount of data.
>>106783210>shader compilation stutter maxes it out to 100% during gameplayYou know the cache actually doesn't help with that as much as it does with just your average framerate. And I agree, I think the am5 x3d processors should be seen as more niche, think it's a pointless buy for most people. A lot of people don't know this, the Fake News Tech Media won't tell you. An SSD, when it's turned off, it LEAKS. That's a fact. The electricity that holds your beautiful pictures, your important documents, it just fades away over time. It disappears! You put it in a drawer for a few years, you come back, and poof! It's all GONE. And it's WEAK. Very fragile. You keep it in a room that's a little too warm, and your data just melts away even faster. It's not strong. Not tough at all. And you pay so much money for it! You are paying more money for a leaky bucket that's guaranteed to lose all of your data. It's a SCAM from the people at "Big Drive." A terrible, terrible deal. The old hard drives, with the powerful magnets, are much better for this. They're strong. They hold the data. It's called physics. It's called common sense. So don't do it. So is the ASUS ROG Strix X870-E the best Strix?
>>106784227Look at this name. ASUS ROG Strix X870-E. It's like alphabet soup. A total disaster. Who can even say it? Nobody. It's a password, not a name. You're here in Germany. You look at their great cars. A 3-series, a 5-series, a 7-series. Simple. Strong. Then you have this mess from the tech swamp. They love to confuse you. And the "E" at the end? You know what that stands for? It stands for EXPENSIVE. That's all it is. They have the regular one, then they have the "E" one. It's the same board! They probably add a stupid light or a piece of plastic and charge you hundreds of dollars more. It's a scam. So is it the "best"? No. The best one is the one that's a great DEAL. The one that does the job. You want the best VALUE, not the fanciest, most expensive letter in the alphabet. And the "Republic of Gamers." We're not playing games here. We're building a country. We need parts for PATRIOTS, not for gamers.Don't fall for the letters. Don't fall for the swamp's marketing. Be smart. Get the one that makes sense. That's the real winner's choice. Believe me.
>>106784243Look, Donald, I get the frustration with all the letters and branding, but let’s talk about what those more expensive motherboards really offer. They come with advanced features, better durability, enhanced cooling systems, and superior performance for those who truly depend on their systems, whether for gaming, content creation, or professional work. Investing in a higher-end motherboard like the ASUS ROG Strix X870-E can provide long-term stability and reliability. It’s not just about the price tag, c'mon man.

>>106784401Look who crawled out of the basement! Sleepy Joe. I knew it. The "c'mon man" gave it all away. That's what he says right before he shakes hands with the air and gets lost on stage. A total mess. And he's trying to talk about motherboards! Can you believe it? This guy thinks a motherboard is something they find on a UFO. He doesn't know what a computer is. He probably thinks "ASUS ROG Strix" is the name of a new kind of ice cream that his handlers won't let him have before dinner. And he's talking about "durability" and "stability." STABILITY? This guy can't walk up a flight of stairs without a team of people. He falls off his bicycle standing still! He's the least stable person in the history of this country. And he's lecturing me on stability? It's a joke! You know he didn't write this. One of his radical left handlers from the tech swamp typed it up for him while he was taking one of his many, many naps. They're telling him to believe Big Tech, to spend more money on their expensive, globalist junk. It's what he does. This is how he runs the country, folks. He falls for every scam. He believes the marketers. He thinks spending more money is always the answer. That's why he's giving our country away.I'm here in Germany, it's almost 4 in the morning, and I am working for YOU. And Sleepy Joe is up way past his bedtime trying to sound smart about computers. Go back to sleep, Joe. The adults are handling things. Sad!
>>106784415Okay, that's a very good question. A smart question. A lot of people get confused by this, and the tech swamp wants you to be confused so you spend the wrong money. I had my people, the best people, look at this. It's very simple. First of all, the Pro model, it's built a little stronger. It has more power going to the engine, the CPU. A bigger, stronger power system. If you are using one of the big, powerful processors and you're really pushing it, this is very important for stability. A stronger foundation. And they give you more plugs on the back. More plugs and faster plugs. The internet plug, the ethernet, is usually much faster on the Pro. If you're moving big files, doing big business, that's a huge, huge difference in speed. And on top of that, and this is a big one, many times the Pro will have a backup system for the BIOS. A tremendous feature. It means if something goes wrong with an update, you press a button, and you're back in business. It's like a great insurance policy. You don't get that on the cheaper one. So, here's the deal. The Elite is a fantastic board. A great board for almost everybody. A real patriot's board, gets the job done. But the Pro is for the winners. The professionals, the content creators, the people who depend on their machine to make money and win. You pay a little more, but you get that extra power, that extra speed, that beautiful backup plan. It's like the difference between a great American truck and the top-of-the-line dually model for the really heavy jobs.A great question. You have to know what you're buying. Now you know.
If I'm adding more RAM is it better to just replace the current sticks entirely with the desired amount or should I just buy two new sticks to add to what I have? I heard running 4 sticks isn't ideal.
>>106784605>If I'm adding more RAM is it better to just replace the current sticks entirely with the desired amount or should I just buy two new sticks to add to what I have? I heard running 4 sticks isn't ideal. It's not because it puts more strain on the CPU's IMC, ideally you buy 2 sticks of the capacity you want and sell the previous kit. However, it's also nice to have spare known-good DIMMs lying around if you need to troubleshoot. That all said worst case with 4 DIMMs is it defaults to a lower speed rating.
