As a support jeet, we have to support more and more clients, but our team is still just a handful of people. Each new client is more and more fickle than the last. We're doing overtime each day and sometimes pulling off night shifts, in the end we're still so far behind having everything settled and peaceful.
So far my work experience has been this exact situation and me leaving when it gets unbearable.
But does the contract just fall through and everyone get s laid off?
Or does that happen at the end once it runs out?

Hey anons. I have a week's worth of PTO saved up and I'd like to use it before I quit my job in December (yes I have something else lined up). I won't be able to use it until next month. However, I feel like taking a week off right before I quit my job would ruin any references I might get from this job. Then again, I'm not sure they would give me a good reference even if I didn't use up all my PTO before leaving.
With that being said:

References are boomer shit. No one does them anymore because of liability reasons. Most companies, when called about someone, will only confirm whether or not they worked there and nothing more for fear of being sued for saying the wrong thing. Also its very easy to just have someone lie for you for they're ultimately worthless. I used to have references on my resume too and multiple recruiters, etc told me to just take them off for that reason, or at most just say "references available upon request".
