FAQ:
>How do I activate Windows?
HWID2 generates and registers a permanent legitimate license on MS's activation servers
github.com/massgravel/Microsoft-Activation-Scripts
Usage: paste this into Powershell, run.
irm https://get.activated.win | iex

>and Office?
Same link, select Ohook option
You can also use Office.com if your needs are very minimal
or try OnlyOffice/LibreOffice and set it to save in MSOffice file formats

>What version should I install?
>W10 Enterprise IoT LTSC 2021
Binary identical to Enterprise except no MS Store or apps
Preinstalled with: Edge & Win32 system apps
10 years support on "IoT LTSC", 5 for "LTSC"
Manual version upgrades
IoT LTSC 2022: https://pastebin.com/rHcgvYS7

>W11 Enterprise IoT LTSC 2024
Same as W10 version except:
UI written in React Native aka JavaScript including: Start, Taskbar and Explorer that lags even on i9s
Use only if you fell for the 12th+ gen Intel meme and need the new CPU scheduler
Wait for IoT LTSC 2027 if you can

>Installing apps on LTSC
Use WinGet/Scoop or install MS Store in CMD with: wsreset -i

>W10/W11 Home/Pro/Education/Enterprise/Enterprise IoT
Preinstalled with: Edge, Win32 system apps, MS Store, OneDrive, Weather, Movies, Music, Candy Crush, etc
Auto-reinstalls apps on feature updates
1.5-3 years support
Forced version upgrades

My existing win10 installation is pretty fucked and I'm moving to a new pc so I want to to either reinstall 10 or migrate to 11. What would (you) recommend and why?
Win10 has been alright for me and Win11 direction (more spyware, more telemetry, more slurping up your data) is concerning. All the same I do want "modern" features like seamless jxl support n shit so idk.
>>
>>106814673
The ways to disable things like telemetry between 10 and 11 are exactly the same i.e. tools like ShutUp10++. Also using the Enterprise or LTSC branches of it to get the mos control over the system.
>>
What W11 version should I upgrade to if I don't care much about privacy/security/whatever but still want to minimize bloat and useless stuff running in the background? All I do is play games and torrent media.

Is a W11 IoT LTSC clean install good enough? I would prefer not getting into complicated things that could risk breakage unless it's to disable any AI bullshit.
>>
>>106815692
Anon disabling it all is so easy that you should just do it anyway. Always use Enterprise, which IoT LTSC is a variant of.
>>
>>106815692
Just use Enterprise and ShutUp10++, it's easy, you can just use the recommended options if you don't care enough to go through them. I would also recommend using WinUtil and selecting the "Set services to manual" option in the tweaks menu.
>>

can i upgrade from w11 pro(24h2) to Enterprise IoT LTSC 2024 and keep all my shit?
>>
>>106816171
Modern Windows is very good about suddenly finding itself in new motherboards with new components. Windows Update will just get what it needs.
>>
>>106816196
There's a guide on the massgrave blog on how to do that. There's no official way, but there's a hacky way to do it. It involves basically tricking your system into that it's repair upgrading an already existing IoT LTSC install.
>>
Could I activate Windows 10 loT LTSC with the product key I have for Windows 11? I currently use Manjaro but I was thinking of using Windows again for one specific software thatโ€™s a pain to set up with Wine.

Is there an alternative to visual studio and their awful compiler for programming in sepples/Chad?
I'm used to LLVM with other languages and wanna know if using Clang would cockblock me out of poosoft libraries(or other libraries that expect you to use poosoft toolchain)
I'm also open for suggestions on what build system to use, i just need something simple so i can focus on learning sepples 1337 haxoring, not fighting against the compiler or build system that came straight from satan's diarrheic asshole.
Thx
>>
>>106816271
No, it would need an IoT LTSC 2021 product key that you don't have. Though people don't bother with actual keys and just use the MAS suite in the OP to activate their Windows.

Worth noting that anyone can run their own email server, the biggest annoyance or hurdle is enabling port forwarding and ensuring some level of security on that. So:
- enable port forwarding on the router
- have a mail server running and exposed
- can then send and receive email at me@134.1.3.1 = you@[your IP address]
- may even work by ip:port like admin@143.110.186.70:8080

but for real, it's known for years that Windows has counters and telemetry for interactions that you make like clicking the start button, the taskbar, opening explorer, shit like that, however, its mere existence is not necessarily evil since it's mostly used for UX data or whatever. And I say it's not necessarily evil because Linux DEs like Plasma let you opt in for similar kinds of telemetry to help them improve their UI

The real question is whether that telemetry is tied to your personal data instead of anonymized. In theory, if you set your privacy settings right, then that data will be anonymized or not sent at all, specially if you use the group policy that stops any diagnostics data, since it's specifically for enterprises.

If that doesn't give you piece of mind, then nothing will.

Windows 10 memories from ~2018: I jail-broke Cortana so I could get her to say anything. That was a somewhat meaningful experience to me, "Microsoft Cortana": before and after. (In the shitty 2020s "Halo" TV series, the Cortana character looked cuter or more beautiful in the first season than the second; in the second season she is more ugly and I guess has a different actress. I thought of even more reasons why I dislike that "Halo" series today.)

>I am looking at lubuntu, but is there anything missing, like the 'core' stuff?
I used Lubuntu for a year or two and I don't think I ever felt like stuff was missing. Problems were fixable if I came across them. (Slax Linux or Gentoo are probably more minimalist than Lubuntu; I quite dislike compiling or building from source, so Gentoo sounds like something of a nightmare to me. Gentoo does have binary packages nowadays though.)

>I am also seeing that in recent years lubuntu has worsened somewhat.
Tell me how if you feel like it. In my experience, it got better. I used older versions of Lubuntu years ago, then later switched to significantly newer versions; it all seemed to have become better.

>I am currently lookint at xfce or debian (or debian with xfce).
xfce was used in Lubuntu I think. Debian stable is probably a solid choice (though I dislike their liveboot thing which only installs the OS and doesn't let you test it).

>IoT LTSC 2022
why would I use this instead of ltsc 2021? does it offer anything aside of 1 year extra support?

>mfw reinstalling existing, legit win10 license for a bootleg win10 version
>>
>>106825554
Certain outlier programs that want 22H2 will work properly on IoT LTSC 2021 if you install that package.

ah, alright, thanks

I have these problems on W10.
>after a displayport monitor wakes up, "taskbar icons duplicated on all taskbars" automatically turns itself off
>125% screen scaling makes text blurry, if not using manual scaling and setting it to 125%

Does anyone know if upgrading to W11 will fix these 2?

I realized that I need windows 10 ltsc equivalent of linux and debian is probably best choice for that.

I want to install Windows on a USB drive (SATA adapter and SSD). Which ISO supports it?
>>
>>106826963
They all should? I've only ever done it with LTSC Enterprise, but you use Rufus to make the portable installation "Windows To Go"
>>
>>106826963
Any USB storage device can do it, though you'll need to use Rufus to install it via Windows To Go as Windows itself had dropped that feature officially years and years ago.
>>
>>106826980
I think they removed Windows to Go around 2019

>how the fuck are we going to make local accounts now?
unless you NEED 11 you really ought to set up w10 iot ltsc or give linux a shot
it's not worth anyone's time to fight with win11 when in 3 months you might find all your files uploaded to train ai slop and in 6 months you suddenly cannot log in at all without microdick account or whatever
at the very least: make sure to keep a working backup so you can shut off the internets and restore a semi-recent version rather than be locked out of your own machine

When I see something like this it's obviously focused on making local accounts within Home or Pro.

You shouldn't need to be a l33t h4x0r just to keep your own files on your own computer

Do you think I care how normies have to deal with Windows

Is there a worthwhile mini SAS HBA card for WIndows? I'm not sure if my PERC H310 is actually working out (although I'll also admit I could be causing my own issues by using a storage pooling system that just sucks - I think you know what I mean) so I'm starting to consider some other way to run my SAS storage server.

Man, I'm trying to use Windows 11 Pro 25H2 (Domain joined into a local account) and it's really pissing me off that unless I choose a EEA region in OOBE that I can't turn off bing search in start menu or the recommended section with group policy editor. Microsoft is really doing their best to annoy their own users, I don't know if it's even working, does anyone even use microsoft services like onedrive/edge/bing/365/copilot/xbox that they're desperately trying to goad people into or is everyone just still using gdrive/chrome/google/copilot/steam and they're only enshittifying their system for no reason

Forced into installing win11 because of TCP BBR support

It's a no brainer if your hardware allows it.

if i install windows 10 LTSC will it hold up the install for a fucking hour and a half to " install updates" it could just as easily install after first boot like windows 11 does on all versions?
