With a $1500 budget you could go either way. For your uses I would personally prefer 1440p for the extra real estate. I've found that 1080p offers too little horizontal resolution to run 2 programs side-by-side but YMMV.

AFAIK there are no 1080p OLEDs (Aliexpress maybe) but you probably don't want one anyway. Most of your uses are static which will burn in quickly.

Yes, and even 4K as the higher resolution and therefore pixel density of the screen will make text sharper and easier to work with.

What you can do is get a regular monitor and mount on a cheap VESA arm like this for $15-20 (the mounting holes are standard on the back of most monitors you buy) and then you can rotate it vertically (hotdog) and horizontally (hamburger) and it'll automatically adjust your desktop orientation to fit:

As others have said you'll need a GPU to run RDR2 but if otherwise it wouldn't be required.

The motherboard has a cheap CPU CPU that still has alright VM performance and has several more years of support on the socket of the motherboard giving you access to drop-in upgrades of faster CPUs later. Also might consider a 2x32GB RAM since you use VMs, but depends on how heavy your usecase is

It's ca. $350-400 right now but the point was more about the balance of the build. Yes you could squeeze a $400 CPU into your budget but it'd mean cheaping out on every other component which is not ideal for a mixed-use workstation.

I honestly don't even know what'd be the good thread to ask this, but does anyone have any experience with KVMs?
I need to use a MacBook (Pro M2 2022 for specifics as it turns out it matters) for work and I'm not allowed to have dev environment on my PC but I'd rather kill myself than go through the whole clown dance of suffering through the dogshit trackpad + apple keyboard experience bundled with a tiny-ass 13" screen, when I have normal human high-quality full-sized keyboard, mouse, and monitor(s).
I'd like to repurpose my current setup I'm using for gayming, which includes the peripherals and, very importantly, a Samsung Odyssey G7 Neo (32" VA model) running at 4K@120Hz over HDMI 2.1 to avoid DSC (as that disable a few Nvidia features and maybe even drops the maximum supported color depth).
So, whatever I'm going to plug that thing in should be good enough to not downgrade my gayming experience on top of allowing me to quickly attach the MacBook and use it like a normal human being as opposed to a retarded clown.

I'm pretty sure that the MacBook in question can't support multiple external screens until I shell out for a specialized dock - I might do that or I might stick to using just a single human-sized screen.
Or maybe actually using its own screen as a secondary - my desk should have enough space to fit it in without interfering with my other stuff.

Either way, what would be recommendations for this use-case? I'm currently leaning towards Level1 Tech's HDMI KVM as it seems to hit all the necessary requirements. It doesn't support USB-C power delivery I think but the laptop has two USB-C port so just plugging it in isn't an issue.
It's crazy expensive and shipping it here (to Japan) would likely make it go well over $1000 after shipping and customs.
I think I can find a use for it down the line as well, so if it's a good device for this use case, I'm willing to pay for it.
But what are the other options? Are there any reputable Chinese manufacturers?

I had the same issue. I deleted openrgb and deleted the folder in my appdata (you may want to copy and paste this folder somewhere else since it has your profiles in it). After I was sure I scrubbed everything, I did a restart then went to the Pawnio website and downloaded that and installed it. After that I installed openrgb again (non service) and right clicked on the exe and selected it to run in admin mode before starting it.
After this my ram was detected.

I've been considering buying a 4TB M2 SSD for a while now since I'm nearing max on most of my drives or close enough, and my 1TB filled up plenty fast with stuff getting deleted/reinstalled/etc. What with all the Win10 bullshit about to come up I've been considering moving to Linux.

What's a good SSD for that? Tons of shit on sale on Amazon right now and Black Friday is right around the corner too. I have a Samsung 970 right now, saw 990s et. al. on sale, but the OP lists it specifically for Windows, don't know if there's a reason why. WD Black drives get advertised to hell and back but I remember hearing they weren't actually great, comparatively.

You could get a 9070xt at MicroCenter for $600 like 2 days ago idk if they sold out or not, but that's a lot more money.

This might be true. I've only been able to boot in Windows 11 Safe Mode so far.

For now I'll just try to deactivate my purchased software codes and just change the whole PC atp. Kicking myself for even allowing this PC to be bought in the first place.
