Hey guys so Im having issues with audio on my Windows 10 PC. I am connecting my Aful Explorers into a Tempotec Sonata BHD Pro DAC (which is connected to the PC). Here's the problem: The sound is super bright. It doesn't sound like this at all if I connect to my phone or DAP instead.

Also it's not just the Sonata that sounds this way, it's the same thing if I connect my IEMs straight into the motherboard. I don't have this issue on my other Windows 11 PC.

So what's the issue? And what can I do? I already checked whether any special effects etc were applied in Windows, but no.
>>
>>106833263
download Peace. look at the db meter to see whether your audio is clipping or not.
>>
>>106833280
DB meter only goes up to about 50%. So no clipping.

Just tried with my Koss Porta Pros as well. Can't even use them cause they're too bright (which they should not be at all).
>>
>>106833263
>>106833325
You're claiming that the Sonata BHD Pro sounds bright in comparison to other sources you have?
I assume the other sources you have are colored (sound processing) or have non-zero output impedance.
Aful Explorer only becomes bassier with output impedance. You are not hearing the "intended sound," if your sources have output impedance. You are hearing a bassier sound than any properly measured sample.
The BHD Pro is more likely to be the accurate source (you did not state what model phone or DAP), presenting the not-colored-less-bassy sound as intended.
All assumptions. Maybe your BHD Pro is defective, but you claim inconsistent performance between different Windows PCs which still leads me to original assumption. The BHD Pro is actually accurate, everywhere else you hear "more bass," has non-zero output impedance.
>>
>>106833235
16, clearly.
>>
>>106833400
>You're claiming that the Sonata BHD Pro sounds bright in comparison to other sources you have?
No, it sounds fine when connected to my phone (or my other PC). It's only on this PC it sounds bright (and the same thing happens if I connected the IEMs straight into the motherboard).
>>
>>106833529
Ok. Pretty weird. I'd install Tempotec's official drivers, mess around with volume, sample rate, bit depth, buffer size settings. Safer tends to be better (24-bit, 48khz, >1024 samples, safe mode enabled). I usually go with 100 Windows volume and adjust the dongle's hardware volume to listening level.
>>
>>106833529
You said you checked for any sound processing on that PC, that's the other main probable issue. Double check.
>>
>>106833529
weird issue
try different usb ports for dac? compare all the audio setting with other PC
maybe some motherboard audio software applying some weirdo filters?

none of the faggots want to apply harman research to the IEM making... We'll be waiting for a while until somebody finally does.

Thanks. Yeah I've already downloaded their drivers off their website. Kinda regret it tho because who knows if they've put spyware on that or not. But no change.

>>106833595
Tomorrow I'm gonna install Tidal and play tracks in exclusive mode. That should disable any Windows processing (as well as effects from things like Peace APO). I hope that will work. As it stands, I can't listen to music or even play CS.

>>106833637
Yeah I checked the motherboard audio app but there aren't any settings to be adjusted there. Will try another USB port but doubt it will make a difference because as I mentioned, the same thing happens when I connect the IEMs into the headphone port on the motherboard.
>>
>>106833732
Because it monitors your PC.
>>
>>106833981
what I mean is why is it even relevant when the general consumer isn't going to care about a general tuning? nobody's going to shit bricks over an 'outdated harman target'. besides, hold your horses, for the ultra-budget jm-1 pos are bound to happen.
>>106833994
good for you? you got your HRTFS in place? otherwise SHUT THE FUCK UP lol
>>
Looking for an upgrade.

I have the KBEAR KS2 (love em)

looking between TRUTHEAR x Crinacle Zero:BLUE2 and RED
>https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0CM3GGZDZ

budget is 100 AUs or around 50 bucks.
intended use is listening to music/podcasts on the bus/train/plane

thanks!
>>
>>106834055
They're both shit. Get the Artti T10 for $54 (or less with a coupon). It's the best you can get under $80.
>>
>>106834046
>what I mean is why is it even relevant when the general consumer isn't going to care about a general tuning
tuning is literally a reason why IEMs are dunking on a lot of more expensive things.
what consumers will care about wasn't the scope of the discussion.
>nobody's going to shit bricks over an 'outdated harman target'
that's why I didn't say "harman tuned" I said they need to apply research instead of blindly trying to match random pos to an outdated target.
>besides, hold your horses, for the ultra-budget jm-1 pos are bound to happen.
not for 1DD without DPS. With DPS you already have bunny. (I'm not even talking about targets btw)
>>
>>106834098
>not for 1DD without DPS.
DSP doesn't change tuning. What you're referring to is EQ, which you can apply to any IEM, DSP or not.
>>
>>106834055
>looking between TRUTHEAR x Crinacle Zero:BLUE2 and RED
why? just don't
tho I guess technically both will be an improvement over ks2.
RED is fucking HUGE so be careful
>>
>>106834145
>DSP doesn't change tuning.
are you retarded?
>What you're referring to is EQ, which you can apply to any IEM, DSP or not
No seriously what is the fucking point of your fucking comment?

2 shelfs and 1 filter to EQ length mode out.
Adjust them a bunch of times to make 3-5 presets. Then A/B between them to find the best one.
EZ
>>
>>106834158
You didn't refute anything I said.
>>
>>106834234
What's a length mode?
>>
>>106834251
Why do I need to refute anything?
There's nothing to refute. And you didn't say anything relevant to a topic at hand.
That's why I asked what the fuck do you think you are talking about
>>
>>106834257
When you wear IEMs they close your ear canal creating ear canal resonance. Its position depends on insertion depth. It's basically a (usually unneeded) peak somewhere around 6-10k Hz.
