When will you start including the 5070 in the main gpu list? It's a good card
>>106838415I've got 6 SATA Ports, 5 if using the M2_2 slot but yeah, those were from a time when buying 256GB and 512GB SSDs was the norm. And I struggle to use them for other machines, such as laptops but even despite that it still feels like a waste to sell those off especially if they have some mileage on them already. My biggest problem is deciding where to put the operating system on, whether to partition that same drive, so I at least have one or two full 512GB drives available for something that isn't the OS. Because seeing like 5 different 256GB partitions when you open up your root directory is kind of a massive OCD alert even if theoretically it should be fine as long as you use the same directory structure between them. The power draw is another question.

Okay, now I understand why benchmark videos and even reviews have such a big discrepancy between the powerdraw of a RX9070 and a RTX5070.Latter adapts way better to the demands of the game and the settings. At stock in FHD it can be drawing around 170W even, while the RX9070 does not give a fuck and just keeps on demanding 220-230Watts.And it's the same over different graphics settings and no difference between FHD and 4K either. That's really weird.Meanwhile the 5070 as soon as you enable e.g. RT, it jumps over 220 Watts, and it's the same with increase of resolution. At 4K it constantly draws 250W.All in all this makes the 5070 the more efficient card, at FHD that is.
>>106839353because AMDs architecture is simply inferior
>>106839353Nvidia's power saving is aggressive to a fault Back in 2023 I frequently had dpc latency issues with the Nvidia windows driver that I managed to bandaid fix by setting the GPU to max performance at all times

My laptop only supports 3 different displays, native + one from usb-c dp out and one through HDMIYou think it would be possible to do 3 externals with a usb-c to Dual HDMI adapter?
>>106839440Not much to say. Disabling power saving on Nvidia GPUs locks it to its max voltage and frequency until you hit the power limit. It removes all variability in latency and should (barely) improve frametimes in older games where the clock fluctuates a lot due to power saving
>>106839520It should be mentioned in the laptop's spec. If you want to push it, you can try display link.
>>106839555Like if you could split the bandwidth and get even more screens Or if it would be a limitEven at reduced hz and stuff
>>106839580There will be a hard limit, you can only connect so many external monitors, what laptop do you have, also list the cpu and gpu.
I built a whole new gaymen pc back in December and still haven't played a game on it. I really only use linux anymore but I have dual boot set up just for games. I know I can game on linux but its less supported and any little bit of friction makes me not want to bother and restarting for dual boot is slow. I was thinking about getting a mini pc and a kvm switch so I could instantly switch between linux and wangblows gaymen. What are the good mini pc brands?

>>106840517Pads require the right thickness, mounting pressure and compressibility to have good contact and even then they might not because of heatsink tolerances and component z-height. Less of an issue when the device is being made as the OEM knows exactly what their tolerances are and what pads to use, but it can be a pain in the ass for the user to replace as you don't know the exact brand/model of pad that was used even if you did get the thickness right.Putty sidesteps all of that by being thermally conductive no matter how thick it is and is near infinitely compressible. The good shit can be stable for a really long time and unlike GB's "gel" it's super easy to peel off and roll it back into a ball to even reuse it.

What is the point of partitioning a drive? I never really understood why I would want to do it.
In your guys' humble opinion, is the 9800X3D worth it? I'm thinking of buying one for the long term, but I've read anons recommending the 7800X3D and 9700X as well. What's the best choice here? I can afford the 9800X3D so budget isn't my concern but I wanna hear what you guys have to say about value.
>>106843110Worth it for what? Gaming? Yes. Productivity? No. Both? Yes.
>>106843122Should've clarified, for gaming and other casual stuff. Nothing productivity-wise that would require anything more stronger than what games need
>>106843110Doesn't help if we don't know what you have now and what yo would use it for. I definitely wouldn't buy it at full price. It was on sale yesterday for 70 dollars off. Wait for november sales and get it then if you want to.

>>106843110>>106843130I wouldn't buy the 9800X3D unless you already have or plan to have a 5080 or otherwise uber GPU. The 5% average uplift in frames over the 7800X3D does not justify the price AMD has set for it, especially with the former dropping down to $338.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0oimg79NZ8https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-ryzen-7-9800x3d/19.htmlPicrel is gaming results with a 4090 which is still stronger than a 5080. So if you pair it with anything less power than that you become even more GPU-bound and further take away from the small advantages the 9800X3D can muster.
>>106843173I was thinking about that. I'm planning to go 2k 144+fps monitor with a 5070ti, so I wasn't sure if the 9800X3D would be worth it in my case, but I do want a CPU that werks and causes no bottlenecks, especially on older more CPU-intensive games like TF2. >>106843472Do you have fans in your PC? Then no. I never even thought about half this shit until I build this passive PC. For you, the fans would take care of it. For a passive PC, it's perpetually in a heat soak status, so transient heat spikes are a big no no. also had to adjust my PSU earlier, it was just floating in the case and making a big cloud of heat. Had to compress it against one of the DB4 walls and use thermal pads to allow the heat to transfer. Right now I'm using two of the walls for CPU heat radiation, and one for the PSU. The remaining wall I dont know what to do with yet, I think their intention is a GPU but IMO that's a waste of time and money when AMD has integrated graphics that can outperform a dedicated GPU in terms of TDP. I'm only doing this because the DB4 case looks really badass, and I like hearing coil whine when LLM's run. Also had to run fagbuntu unfortunately (used DAT linux on lubuntu base to avoid the nogpoz) since they don't have ROCm without jerry rigging it on void. >>106843574Well it's received many updates over the years. there is also a cap, you can buy the best PC on the market and its not going to matter as afaik, the game can only run on a single thread and is CPU limited. Not a big deal for me since it just jumps up and stays there. I don't play any other games and besides LLM's, the most I do is MCMC inference for masters schoolwork, and when I'm at work I keep a RTSP -> yolo -> deepsort -> reID stack -> influxDB stack running so I can track all the wildlife around my house across six cameras and study population dynamics of squirrels, chipmunks, turkeys, deer, coyotes, and so on. So far it doesn't work very well for anything but the deer(!?) which is still better than I hoped for. I could probably run metropolis on an orin unit and make it work faster but that's 1. faggy, 2. uses more power than a lightbulb (TDP 65W-110W avg on this PC).

>>106843653>I'm only doing this because the DB4 case looks really badass, and I like hearing coil whine when LLM's run. Not sure if only thought this or if I already explained it, but I also consider the Framework desktop PC's as they contain AMD 395+ Max CPU's, but I would be required to run it with a fan, or have a custom cold plate machined for it with no guarantee that the heat would be dissipated adequately. For that reason, I went with the 8700G, which is mostly at 65W TDP and only under heavy loads exceeds 100W, so it should be enough for the DB4 case. Oh uh, and here is a picture of when I was setting it up. It also looks pretty nice with the norbauer keyboard frame.

The ones I know are DLSS Swapper & NVIDIA Profile Inspector.NVIDIA App's overclocking was never better than Afterburner or other AIB's equivalent.I keep NVIDIA App because the included DLSS swapper's good enough, and there are some games with too many graphics options to tinker around with.I don't mind using the app's in-game settings optimization for titles like RDR2, with some manual adjustments for DLSS, FPS, etc.If you decide to use the NVIDIA App, just make sure "Game filters and Photo mode" is disabled in the Settings tab, which uses up more CPU resources than it's supposed to.It should be off by default.

>>106843747The usual is an accelerating fan curve. Low fan speed up to a point of your choice, then increases to max up to the chip's tjmax. Keeping fan speed low is because sometimes the reported heat from a component is a spike from a small burst of activity that only needs a bit of time to transfer into the cooler; no need to push more air over the heatsink. >>106844092but AMDs architecture is generally inferior in efficiency yet everyone pretends NVIDIA GPUs are the power hogs
UPDATE>MOBO wouldn't stay on and would turn on its own>Not the PSU, GPU, ram. Probably not cpu>System fan doesn't work from the audio connection sideSo decided to get new MOBO, ram, and cpu>Gigabyte b650, 32gb ram, 9700x and Intel arc b580Best news , was able to boot up windows 10 from the original boot drive. Life is good, fellas.
>>106844101People can be morons yes. I just look at price to performance and power use and judge that.
>>1068441015090 uses 30 percent more power than 4090 and gets so hot jewsen had to turn off the hotspot sensor all to get 30 percent more performance. Kill yourself shill
>>106844122So you're saying the 5090 is garbage efficiency, where does that leave the 9070XT that has the exact same efficiency?
>>106841924>cucked by bezels No you have not ascended yet.
>>106844107you just bought a whole new system, at least you confirmed it's not the psu
>>106841932My card isn't on this chart or any chart anymore. I wish they had a chart ranking the power of every card going all the way back. I would love to see where I really stand vs everything else.
>>106844136why are the kneejerk reactions and emotional womanism of Radeon buyers always BTFO by real world testing data?
>>106844148Yeah and it wasn't Windows setting either, I couldn't even keep the power running while trying to get into the bios. Something just started to fail on the mobo.
>>106844136>>106844151You're the emotional one trying to turn this into a team brand war. Never said 9070 XT was amazing effiency. Jusd Don't larp that nvidia is much better when they have awful efficiency for their halo card showing that 50 series is getting basically no performance uplift architecturally. Lower tier cards like 9070 and 9060 xt arent bad effiency and 9070 XT is over gassed from the factory to ensure stability, they can all pretty much be undervolted to 250-270 watts and get the same or better performance.
>>1068441785080 has amazing efficiency, overall NVIDIAs architecture is more efficient than AMDs with both power and VRAM, that's just factual
I've got an ASUS RoG Strix B550 mobo for 100$.
>>106844178emotional transvestite having a meltdown over POODNA nigger jeetslop
>>106844136I will not understand those people who keep trying to shove up-model BIOSes into lower tier cards, the base 9070 has its place as a 16GB alternative to the 5070. This power eff chart further reinforces that sidegrade value.
>>106844000update: turned off pc, unplugged to make sure all the electricity drains out, made noodlesreturned, plugged back in, lights came back on with no other fix conclusion: unplugging your pc then going to go get noodles fixes this
>>106844203or don't use sleep and turn off fast startup
>>106844150If you assume that TPU's relative % comparison between cards on their gpu-specs pages are accurate, then you can use it to roughly guess how many FPS you would have on an older card versus one of the newer ones on the chart, disregarding any VRAM limitations.
>>106844071>60 series will have crazy new shit 50 won't get too.Explain transformer model. And it doesn't matter when the next playstation still probably won't have feature parity with blackwell.Just admit that radeon is a dying brand, stop fighting the truth.
>>106844187>5080So are you and all the other nvidiniggers enjoying the 9% or sometimes 0% uplift in games?
AMD Radeon purchasers are often emotional and irrational because purchasing an AMD Radeon GPU in of itself is emotional and irrational, you’re paying the same price, for worse performance, worse VRAM usage, worse power efficiency, inferior features, a locked down console architecture without support for ROCm while every NVIDIA card supports CUDA, and then you vehemelty defend this purchase online because you’re having an emotional reaction to believing NVIDIA is a “big meanyhead” often times resorting to childish antisemitism when NVIDIA has about as much to do with Judaism as AMD and was founded by a Taiwanese immigrant, because it’s purely emotional
>>106844028>Upgrading from a old Ship of Theseus build from 2014 with a i5-4690kI looked into your eyes and I knew you were my nigga. It's been a long wait friend, but we finally made it and I have no regrets. Hope you love your new build.
>>106844235How is it a dying brand when it powers consoles that make literally billions of dollars, radeon will never be closed just because of that. Again nothing you jeets say makes any sense.
>>106844251as opposed to the -5% to -10% downlift AMD offers compared to its previous flagship?

>>106844257>NVIDIA has about as much to do with Judaism as AMDExcept there are literally leaked videos on the darkweb of jensen sacrificing children to moloch on epstien island along with all the other satanist billionaires. If you know you know, you can tell its jensen because he is constantly making refences to AI unprompted. No such videos of Lisa btw.
Any chance 5080's will go under 999 in the next few months?
>>106844293just buy a 5070ti
I just got a new pc with an rtx 2060 siper card and it's pretty cool. Previously i had an xbox series s. i do have a question. I've been reading everywhere that amd gpus have way better performance and cost way less and stuff. But what is the catch? If it's so much better than nvidia cards then why is it not more popular? Does it have less support and features? What is it?
>>106844295But I want to 4k gayme.
>>106844251Most people don't buy a new video card every generation. And it's not like AMD hasn't had their set of pathetic releases recently.
>>106844293Are people still using gpu for mining Bitcoin? Or has AI completely taken over?
>>106844301generating slops is the new hotness
so done with these fucking driver issues on my 5070 ti. i was in the middle of typing up a shitpost dunking on the AMDrones ITT when my screen went black and I had to turn my whole pc off. im rmaing and switching to 9070 xt fuck it idc anymore.
>>106844299the 10% extra performance of the 5080 isn’t going to make much of a difference, the only actual upgrade is a 5090
>>106844301Nope, not even for etherium since they switched to proof of stake years ago
>>106844332But I don't want to burn down my house and have to take out a second mortgage just to pay the electricity bill. Why can't there be a true in between the 5070 and 5090?
>>106844327And the coping mechanism continues.
>>106844028>le hyper 212It is an ancient cooler design that has been surpassed by other newer single towers. Pick literally anything else. Or a dual tower so that 9600x has the freedom to boost as high as it can.
>>106844342There can, but only if AMD had a cards that faster than the ""5080""Until then the current 5080 is the ideal card for minmaxxing profit margins since it costs no more to make than the 5070ti
>>106844342the 5070ti exists nigga

>>106839065The 265k and 245k are great for productivity stuff. One of the newer PC's at my work has a 265k, and it's pretty great that I can have all 8 P cores cooking on my parallelized simulations while still having E cores to do non-CPU heavy work like reading papers/writing math/rendering figures etc.
>>106844378The ASRock challenger GPUs series is pretty great. Their mobos are probably not the way to go at the moment.
>>106844348does it really matter if im not overclocking or anything. i dont really check my temps or finetune my shit im just tryna play games and it was the cheapest one lol
>>106844376im ok with it because it excites me every time i read it
>>106844444
Reading through this bios manual and I just had an existential crisis moment. I know I'm not going to understand 90% of this shit and need to google and ask for help but I can't because I'm stuck in bios. So I'll have to write down or take pictures with my phone of everything, then load and look it up and then go back and hope I can get it all right and keep going back and forth. Really wish I had the setup so I could keep running my old pc as well and use that one to do live research.
>>106844525Actually maybe I can borrow my mom's laptop for a while. That might work.
>>106844525You don't have a phone?I have 4 laptops and 4 desktops
>>106844539I have a phone but I'm too old for that. I'll never understand how zoomers can be content with their phones being their primary computer. I hate having to use it for browsing or doing any sort of typing. I miss my dumb phone that could just play snake.
>people are so fucking illiterate about shit they use every day they're managing to totally fuck their BIOS and brick their computers simply by having to turn on Secure Boot to play BF6, even though any computer built since Win11 came out will already have it on by defaultNever, EVER forget that HALF the population have a below average IQ. It is VERY easy to forget this. NEVER overestimate or give the benefit of the doubt to the masses.

>>106844545all you have to do is google the mobo's manual or watch a youtube video, it's not hard on a phone with a non-shit webrowser
>>106844545>I'm too old for thatDude, I'm here to tell you that being a tech curmudgeon is the worst possible combination of traits. It would be better if you swore off technology altogether rather than cling to old tech out of nothing but familiarity. Tech advances, how the fuck are you 'into tech' yet hate when it does so?
>>106844580I just hate typing on my phone, posting on 4chan sucks mega dong as well. I don't want to henpeck and look at a tiny screen when I'm trying to do 10 different searches and posting. I have nothing against technology, but phones will never even be close to the ideal way to use the internet.

How does turning on secure boot brick your computer?
>>106844681It doesn't, it just makes it unable to boot the OS
>>106844697that doesn't make any sense, it's already just a basic windows program on by default.
>>106844703Try it and report back.
>>106844713I don't have windows 11 but since it's a default windows 11 program I can only assume you are shitposting. How would you turn on something that is on by default? Nothing you say is making any sense.
