i just placed a reservation on a 9070 open box at microcenter for $480 did i do good? i havent purchased it yet so i can still back out but it seems like too good a deal to pass up.im upgrading from a 5700xt and a ryzen 7 3700x, i know my cpu is going to be a bottle neck since i mostly play esport slop, minecraft, or old games where performance doesnt matter, what would yall recommend as a cpu to pair with the new gpuill probably do the cpu in a few months after i get a new monitor so i can throw this old ass 720p 32 inch tv in the dumpster
Pro tip to pc building noobs : You can always ignore amd shilling, they're literally evil and retarded.
>>106853894You should probably move to AM5. I like the 9070, I think it's a better buy than the XT.
Weird, I did some bench on my gpu because cs2 was behaving shittily and was troubleshootingIt was like 11k score while online people had low 14k to high 16k scores, so something was wrong. Undervolting had some success bringing it to 12k+.I then obviously ordered thermal putty and phase change pad for the gpu. maybe it has dried paste Then I did DDU to do clean driver install and after than it behaved normally, 14k+ scores like other people. I installed windows few months ago and its 4y old nvidia 3080, so there isnt any amd gpu to nvidia swapping going on. What could the drivers issue be that happened in that time frame, or is it windows fucking things up? The ddu steps specifically go over disconnecting ethernet cable so windows doesnt autodownload drivers for the gpu.
>>106853894>im upgrading from a 5700xt and a ryzen 7 3700x, i know my cpu is going to be a bottle neck since i mostly play esport slop, minecraft, or old games where performance doesnt matter, what would yall recommend as a cpu to pair with the new gpuyou could get a 5800x3d or 5600x3d although they aren't cheap from what I can tellthe 5800x is a lot less but might not be as big of an upgrade over the 3700x for gaming

>>106853947hdr = super nice
>>106853627Nah not really. 1440p is great and it's also the best at integer scaling for emulating old console resolutions to use as much screen as possible. 4K only really shines in big TV type displays. Running stuff in 1440p at higher fps is better than slower at 4K.

>>106854687You can plug a graphics card or another expansion card into the usb slot
>>106854547it is wider than a d15, so the vrm cover might obstruct the second fan
>>106854687The X-series chipsets are more for work than consumer use. One can imagine a videographer or data scientist benefiting from high USB bandwidth but it's not going to make much, if any, difference to a guy that occasionally edits his holiday photos. Plus that bandwidth has to come from somewhere which usually means losing PCIe lanes in certain configurations. There's only a few X870 boards that don't lane-share and they're all expensive (more copper, finer tolerances).USB4 can be used for display output which is probably the most common client use. X870(E) might be useful for a super high-end VR rig or simracing.

why are voltage controlled fans bad?
>>106855965That's not quite correct. Our perception of bass frequencies is certainly /less/ directional than mid/treble but the waves do still travel in defined directions. You probably won't notice it with a single downfiring sub but it is something to consider when setting up a stereo bass system. In any case it is a marginal effect; you can get away with moving a front-ported speaker closer to the wall but better to design the system such that you don't need to from the outset.

>>10685603290% of blender work is done in the userspace editor. those benchmarks for the 10% final cut.
>>106856063it's not about our perception but in order to direct or reflect sound waves, your waveguide/reflector needs to be as large as the soundwave itself. yes obviously the location of the speaker matters but at low frequencies the direction of the driver or bass ports don't matter (unless your speaker 5m wide).

Can i please get a bit of help and critique on this low-midlow build? This is in Spain and would rather get it all through amazon.es if possible.I dont mind paying 20€ or whatever extra in any (or all) pieces for a better overall build, getting those from a more reputable brand or whatever, is not about saving the most money and making it the cheapest, im just trying to make a build that sticks to my needs which should be amply covered by a build around this performance.Mainly for overall use, some gaming @1440p but i dont mind if it that gaming has to be on mid settings for modern stuff, i mainly play indy smaller shit and some emulators.I already have a 500gb nvme so i should be fine with an extra 1tb forever and a dayI know im picking a fairly expensive psu but i had some troubles with a psu back in the day and thats the place i rather spend an extra 30 or whatever to get a well reviewed platinum psuCould use help on the gpu; I understand that on the 700-900€ range it is 5070TI or 9070XT but i have no idea whats going on on the 300-450€ range. Also on the cpu i picked that one mainly going by what the price seems would align with the rest of the build. >>106856739I agree, buying an X3D chip when the 9900X is significantly cheaper and faster is better. You could even go back to the 7900X and it will be a better choice for blender. Plus the money saved could go towards a better GPU, like the 5070 Ti. Sounds like a retarded AMD fanboy that wants to justify their gaming PC for work. Even though it would still be great for games, I don't know why you would be so hellbent on the 9800X3D for blender when you're losing 4 cores to spend more money.
>>106856320Looks solid. Safe and standard. You're overspending on the SSD and PSU but you've covered that so I won't press.>Could use help on the gpu5060Ti 16GB > 9060Ti 16GB > 5060Ti 8GB > 9060 8GBIf you dropped the CPU+SSD+PSU back a notch you could afford a 5060Ti 16GB but the difference between them is small. Main advantage would be DLSS but it seems you don't play many games with it. Up to you.

>>106856730thank you>>106856804I will stick to a 16gb card either way so its a cheapo 9060TI or a cheapo 5060TI which would be 80 or so extra bucks, i can swing that if i end up thinking its appropriateThe ssd im ok with it being a bit more expensive to get one from a better known brand same with the psu, might drop to a 650W but i dont expect the price difference being anything to write home about. What are other options on CPU? i assume would be the 7600x? thats like 40€ cheaper, might end up picking that one a 650w psu and then the 5070TI and end up paying just a bit moreAny other cpu options?Cat first day home 13 years ago Thank you

If AMD can silence the critiques about features (ray tracing, cuda etc) and keep hammering that spot of offering similarly performing cards but 100 dollars cheaper than nvidia i think that they are bound to get a chunk of that market. The problem is that they might not think it worth it.I will use my 3060TI until it catches on fucking fire and if then the better bang for my money is an amd card, im there for it. Im cured of tribalism. The just need to make the product
Are amazon items more cheaper in black friday?First time buying there and I'm not burger fyi.
>>106857599They can be, my suggestion is putting every part you might possibly be interested into pcpartpicker and just checking it religiously. I honestly went into this not wanting to spend more than 500 dollars on a screen. Spending 900 for the c5 was already a stretch. Spending double just for some extra brightness is not in the cards and I honestly don't think it will matter. I'm sensitive to bright like, I always have my monitor brightness set as low as it can and I am in a room with no windows. It's a small room, a 55 inch would barely fit, the 48 inch fills up a lot of the space I think it will be just fine. I've got 60 days to return it so if for some reason it's not enough I can send it back but I doubt I will go bigger it's just not worth that much more money.

>>106857551>but 100 dollars cheaper than nvidia i think that they are bound to get a chunk of that marketThat doesn't work in today's market, atleast I'm not convinced. It would have worked in 2010 back when everyone was much more conscientious about value but in this era where people will spend $100+ extra on a mobo, psu, ssd, fancy fans, etc for no practical reason other than feels or looks. How does AMD convince people to spend slightly less on a GPU?
>>106853054Holy shit, UDNA's Radiance cores will end nvidia's reign soon
>>106857799Yeah the average PC builder is in their mid 30s now with an established career and disposable income. That marginal customer that can afford a $500 card but not a $600 one barely exists. Doubly so now that the card is ±50% of the cost of the entire rig. AMD would have to bring it back to pre-explosion prices, where a '60 class was $200, but it's hard to do that when TSMC has zero spare capacity. Maybe they can try stratification again; make the next gen '60 a rebadged 9070XT when N4 is cheaper.
>>106857893>the average PC builder is in their mid 30s now with an established career and disposable incomeThat's part of it Another part is Zoomers tend to spend more on things they otherwise would not be able to readily quantify. They buy a new car, it's often the highest trim. They eat at a restaurant, it's often higher up the price bracket for the aera. Most of anything they buy is more upmarket than what previous generation would consider and it's almost on instinct. It's not like they really have the money, they'll go broke doing this shit considering how easy it is to borrow money.

Actually I think I'm going to be just fine, I found this calculator that is supposed to tell you your idea screen size based on how far away you are. >>106858687unstable platforms and getting cucked by random issues is what scares me>USB issueslast time I checked the issues were mobo manufacturers shitty controllers and what they uselike wide spread reports of entire system stuttering due to not being able to handle 8k polling mice and shit like thatand it was all due to bad usb port controllers, not the cpu itselfthe fact that that was less or not existent on intel mobos? the fuck>>106858710>Yes, motherboards on amd are a fucking abortion. Good luck not frying your $500 8 core processor or getting pcie5 to work for a reasonable priemaybe a free 14600k was the best cpu of the decademaybe it was the 2500k of 2025 after all>>106858800no core count just a gaymen cpu without any work station shit>>106858822>how often do you replace your monitor?last monitors I owned were so old they got deprecated by their port selection, no dp and so ononly reason to upgrade if you are an enthusiast and there has been like several generations of upgrades of display else the upgrade will be minimal ofc>should i go for the oled slop?won't even be a crazy bump and lackluster brightness unless you TVmaxxI feel like anything else will not even be remotely impressive, or 500hz>>106858872>100cm from 32"lol, rtings cucks>feet and inches or whatever shit this isyou americans really need to stop with this horrendous measurment mixture, reallyjust fucking brutal>>106858881>Do you have a computer that can even handle 4k?any computer can handle 4k, if it can render it in 2d, it can handle 4kthere are more upsides than rendering games in native 4k only>>106858894many pitfalls of the oled meme, even more so on monitors>>106859492>Subjectiveno, the C series are literally kinda worse than the S90D/F in brightness and everything especially for gaymen / pc useif we are comparing sub 55" C5 it will be even worse since there is a brightness nerfalso no QDlike the S90D were more like competing with the G4s
>>106859882based
>>106859879I figured out how to get a BIOS file for flashback, now I am waiting. The mobo is brand new, I thought it would be current.
>>106859879On their website 9800X3D is supported with all UEFI versions on that board so it's unlikely you have to use Flasback function at all.Which DIMM slots you are using right now?Did you try clearing CMOS?For how long did you wait? First boot can take a while with DDR5 memory training.
>>106859940>last time I checked the issues were mobo manufacturers shitty controllers and what they useMost USB ports are trough the CPUAnd even if they are using a separate USB controller or even a hub chip, it's the same Asmedia/realtek shit they use on both AMD and Intel and have been for years
>>106859882>IPS glow and mediocre contrast aren't cuck tech>VA smear & viewing angles aren't cuck tech>Janky miniLED implementation isn't cuck tech>Dealing with miniLED blooming or miniLED dim highlights isn't cuck tech
>>106860010The only thing that won't be cuck tech is full body/mind vr immersion.
1440 is a cuck resolution. I won't buy a monitor that says "I had to settle on a monitor that isn't 4K".
>>106859940>last time I checked the issues were mobo manufacturers shitty controllers and what they use>like wide spread reports of entire system stuttering due to not being able to handle 8k polling mice and shit like thatAM4 also had infinity fabric issues that manifested as system-wide stuttering and USB device disconnectionsbut i think that was mostly solved by BIOS updates when they got the voltages locked in>>106860001>it's the same Asmedia/realtek shit they use on both AMD and Intel and have been for yearsi have an asmedia hub (ASM1074) on my intel mobo but it's only used for some of the portsthe rest use an intel controller
>>106860033Checked. Buying a 1440p display is cuckshit but 1440p is the sweet spot resolution for gaming. Video content should be watched in 4k
>>106860035>the rest use an intel controllerThat\s the CPU/ChipsetIf Ryzen does still have issues, it's purely down to fuckery from AMD as MB vendors really aren't doing anything different between the two
>>106860064>That\s the CPU/Chipsetmonolithic intel CPUs don't have integrated USB controllersbut yeah i would assume it comes from the chipset, which is produced by intelAMD chipsets are also produced by asmedia
>>106859992I'm using A2 and B2, the manual says that's the first ones to populate. Clearing the CMOS now. Thanks anon, hoping this works.
>>1068600331440p has always been a coperes only gaymers have accepted. NOBODY ELSE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD USES THIS RESOLUTION FOR ANYTHING AT ALL.
>>106860093>A2 B2Correct.If it's still stuck on Boot after clearing CMOS, you should try removing your m.2.
>>106859934>QM7kThat's a huge TV, not a monitor
What's the temp and wattage difference between a 5070ti and a 5080? Does the 5080 have that 12v connector that everyone was complaining about? I'm wondering if spending the extra 150 dollars might be worth it. I don't do any AI shit, that extra 10-15% increase in power might allow me to framerate cap games easier.
>>106860160It was just an example, but if you don't like the risk of burn in I think miniled is the second best choice. You get close to the quality if not better in some areas than OLED and the only real price you pay is haloing which isn't all that bad.
>>106860171Thank you, it was my intention to get a mini-LED. The mac studio monitors are pretty good but only 60hz, I'll keep looking in the mean time.
>>106860188>>106860188>>106860188
>>106860153I took out the CMOS battery for twn minutes and removed my m.2 boot drive. Even without the drive, the boot LED is still green.
>>106860218Try unplugging every USB device and plug your monitor into the motherboard to use iGPU.Something is funky.
>>106860242Nothing side from the CPU is attached to this board lol, HDMI is plugged into the mobo
>>106860270Only RAM and CPU, alright. So we are getting to the point we start praying. What if you unplugged the HDMI? Same thing?Check 24pin both on the PSU and motherboard side.
